I really liked it. Much better than Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

I saw it a couple of nights ago. I thought it was good, but not as good as Rise. Too gritty for my liking. It also needed more sense in it. Both the humans and the apes are simply trying to survive, so why didn't they make an attempt to just get along rather than both plotting to annihilate the other? Surely it would be better to peacefully co-exist rather than to wipe out one side as well as having a good deal of casualties on the other side? While the film was good and was very well made, the story lacked common sense.

I think it made perfect sense, the apes, from the end of the first movie, just wanted their peace and freedom, so they stayed in the mountains, for about 10 years, and as the symian flu grew, more and more people died and made them afraid of apes, so no one would even go to the mountains to try and find a solution to their problems, UNTIL they ran out of choices, the survivors wanted the dam to be able to have their energy and peace, with no war against the apes. But Koba, just as much as Gary Oldman's character, do not believe that peace could be made and they need to annihilate each other's species, and finish off the war. Koba always wanted to be leader and always hated humans, so it was more about revenge, since he did not get the nice upbringing with humans like ceasar did. So even though peace is an option, it's not for these characters.
