Brock talks in his book about how bad his drinking was and how he couldn't handle the schedule. I don't blame him. He was a 25 year old kid that went straight from high school, to college and then the crazy world that is WWE. That's a crazy transition for a farm kid.
I would have loved to see him return at WM21 and go over Triple H to end Evolution.
Would have been amazing.
Edit: I'm pretty sure he mentions pills a few times as well.

I wasn't a member then. I was 12. I could tell he was legit, though. He was so strong, quick, and athletic it was absolutely amazing. I knew he was something special when he destroyed Hogan and wiped his blood across his chest. His title win vs Rock definitely put him on the map. His Unforgiven match with Taker is very underrated and the HIAC match with Taker was classic. He was pretty much the first person to basically destroy Undertaker single handedly. Taker really put him over strong. After that, he took off. His encounters with Angle were sheer brilliance.
The thing about it was, he looked the part of a dream WWE superstar, but he could 100% LEGITIMATELY WRESTLE.

He was way impressive, but I flat out hated the instant push he got. I was 21 at yhe time...and at KotR in Columbus, and was sure that RVD in his prime was going to get the big win, especially after a great semifinal match against Jericho. But then Lesnar won. And then against the Rock for the title...ugh. What?! He definitely ran with it though and had great matches, and I became a fan.
