MDT said something to this effect, if not this exactly, in the Q/A. The retail scarcity of most flashbacks has raised some eyebrows among the bean counters over at Mattel, it seems. Any ideas or speculation as to how this might play out? As many have pointed out, it now seems that they have the names to support a flashback specific line.
Full disclosure: I'm a Legends-only guy, but came into the hobby right as all the Legends series were hitting the clearance racks (much to my delight). Hearing him casually drop that info gave me goosebumps, as I never knew what it was like to have an active Legends/flashbacks series.

Yeah, I noticed a few times that Bill said about possibly expanding the Flashback Elites. I don't think they'll get a separate line - but I'd love something like the regular Elite line expanding to 8 figures per-series: 5 current roster and 3 Flashbacks.

If they could start some kind of new line that entailed them being able to actually sign new names, I'd cry in happiness

I am also excited about this. Hopefully other eras that haven't been well represented will get their moment in the sun like the 80's and the WWWF era since the New Generation (Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Diesel, Doink the Clown, Yokozuna, Lex Luger, and Razor Ramon) and the Attitude Era (Steve Austin, The Rock, DX, Edge and Christian, Mankind, and Kane) have had the most representation.
Which means I hope that a GORGEOUS GEORGE figure will be right around the corner. Hey a Battle Pack (even a triple pack with a basic Rick "the Model" Martel) with George and Tyler Breeze could be a way to introduce "The Toast of the Coast" to the line.

I dont expect to ever see a Legends/Flashbacks only line but as the current roster dwindles down, it wouldnt surprise me to see more and more flashbacks. I mean, I understand they're going to release a lot of Cena's but you can only release so many. We're getting to the point where even mid carders are getting their 3rd-4th even 5th figures. Starting to pack Flashbacks a little more heavily could really help the current line and extend its life.

The more Flashbacks, the better.
I know it's a long list, but here are some ideas for Mattel to consider:
WWF Golden Era

WWF New Generation Era
123 Kid Ahmed Johnson (with gold strapped IC title) Faarooq (NOD attire w/ leather belt and hat) Hunter Hearst Helmsley (w/ entrance jacket) Justin Hawk Bradshaw
Mankind (debut attire) Savio Vega Sycho Sid (Survivor Series 96) Wildman Marc Mero (KOTR 96) Yokozuna (WM 12 with braids and beard)
WWF Attitude Era
Al Snow (w/ head and job squad t-shirt) Chainsaw Charlie (w/ chainsaw and dumpster) Chris Jericho (ANY attire) D'lo Brown (w/ removable chest protector and European Championship) Dude Love (w/ light blue pants from IYH 22) Gangrel (w/ cup) Godfather (w/ cane, removable jacket, glasses, hat and smiling headscan) Hardcore Holly (w/ Hardcore title and some weapon) Jeff Jarrett (short hair w/ breakable guitar and "Don't piss me off" t-shirt) Jim Neidhart (w/ hart foundation jacket and glasses) Ken Shamrock (red attire w/ entrance robe and IC title) Kurt Angle (w/ gold medals and European or IC championship) Mark Henry (NOD attire) "Mr. Ass" Billy Gunn (solo run w/ IC title, t-shirt and black attire w/ crowns) Taka Michinoku (w/ Lightheavyweight title red strap) Val Venis (w/ towel)
WCW

Maybe something like TRU exclusive sets of 4 (like Jakks did with the Deluxe Classics), released 2-4 times a year.
They could put in one or two headliners (packed alternating 3 to a case), a mid level guy (packed 2 per case), and an obscure guy at one per case

I'm actually content with the amount we get. I own the full legends line along with most of the defining moments and about 99% of the flashbacks and a few key modern figs. I have over about 100 figs space is getting low.

Yeah, I noticed a few times that Bill said about possibly expanding the Flashback Elites. No way in hell the Elite line goes to 8 figures. There'd be no way the budget could handle that constantly in my opinion. We'd be getting like 4 elite lines a year. Well, however you "expand" the Flashback figures will obviously mean needing a bigger budget - and, short of introducing a separate line, increasing the Elites to 8 per-series (5 current, 3 Flashback) seems a way to keep everyone happy, without doing anything too drastic (plus, the Elite figures are always shipped in cases of 8). Sure, people will complain there are too many figures or they can't afford it - but people complain about everything... and if there were to be a separate Flashback or Legends line PLUS the regular Elite line, it would be far more expensive(!).
