After checking out this trailer do you think Mad Max: Fury Road will be able to live up to the first 3 Mad Max movies which made Mel Gibson a superstar? Do you think Tom Hardy is worthy of stepping into Mel Gibson's shoes as far as the Max Rockatansky character goes?

I'm not too sure on this, never have been since I heard it was actually happening and without Gibson. I mean I dont want to dislike it and I think both the movie and the upcoming game look awesome, just cant accept Hardy as Max, ya know?
Actually picked up the Trilogy yesterday and watched Road Warrior and man, its such an awesome film - love Gibson's mystique and his silent but aggressive and intimidating aura. Plus Wez is amazing ha, such a great mad man and a great foe for Max. Definitely my favourite of the trilogy.

But if anyone could replace Gibson as Mad Max it is probably Tom Hardy or if not him then they should have cast Chris Hemsworth as Mad Max

I mean I know I'd have loved to see Gibson do it one more time, its not like the films ever had him do anything that was TOO physical, plus seeing how good shape he got in for Ex3 I'd say he could have nailed it as an older Mad Max. For me its just like if you recast John McClane or Rambo - just doesn't seem right :/

Mel Gibson as an older Mad Max, if they had gone with that I would not have had a problem with it considering Arnie he was playing The Terminator at an older age in Rise of the Machines in 2003 and he is playing The Terminator again in Terminator Genesis coming out next year so you're right they should have kept Mel as an older Mad Max
But yes I do have high hopes also for Tom Hardy as Mad Max

Sorry. I hadn't heard of this movie and while I will watch it there are certain characters that I can't see other actors playing. And Max is one of them along with Easteood's Man With No Name or Harry Callahan, Ford's Indiana Jones, Heston's Taylor in PotA, and the main cast of Episodes 4-6 of Star Wars. And while I said that about recasting Kirk, Spock and Bone for the new Star Treks I though Pine, Quinto,Urban did a fantastic job...so hopefully Hardy can do the same.

If ANYONE else had been cast as Mad Max, I'd be skeptical and question it.. But when they cast Tom Hardy as Mad Max? I shut up... Tom Hardy is a future Oscar winning actor. And he'll do the character much justice.
Not to mention no one really gives a sh*t about Mel Gibson in 2014.. Arnold, Sly, and Willis can reprise roles of their old characters because they haven't been dragged through the mud like Mel has.. Mel is lucky to get any work, let alone get to relaunch an old franchise.

i only liked the first movie, and it looks like they're for the most part abandoning it's story line. i'll check it out though.

I'm definitely seeing this and I think it looks pretty awesome. I love the originals, particularly 2, but it's not sacred ground for me. I like that they are keeping it going. If it's not good then it's not a big deal. I got Doomsday, which to me was as Mad Max as it gets without being Mad Max, and that was brilliant. So I have very little expectation for this beyond hoping it's entertaining. I'm a Mel Gibson fan, but I think people would pretty much be ignoring this altogether if he was reprising his role, sadly.

I thought mad max was one of those films where the concept was awesome but the films didn't really live up to it. I enjoyed the first one, the second one felt pretty dated and awkward, couldn't even finish the third. that said i'm not really keen on this whole remake thing and as much as i love tom hardy, this struck me as one of those easy roles some actors do for a paycheck.
so it surprised me that the trailer was one of the best trailers i've seen in a long, long time. the cinematography and atmosphere looks absolutely stunning. it doesn't look like they'll be sacrificing the tone just to get a pg 13 rating either. what i'm hoping for is an modern road warrior with a massive budget and first impressions are looking like it could well deliver.

People should NOT view this a remake.......it isn't intended to be. Its a sequel to The Road Warrior from what I understand.
Here's hoping there's a nice voiceover at the start to explain how things are with the world.
