What's something simple (other than wire) can I use for barbed wire? Anything other than twist ties?

Try some 26 or 28 gauge wire. You can get it at craft stores or at hardware stores.

Thanks for both ideas, I like the second one. Keep them coming, anyone who has any others.

Well i just use twist ties but you could use the paper clip idea that cenafan gave out ? That was to unstretch some paper-clips straight as possible then wrap them round one paper-clip !! ;D karma appreciated ;D

steel gage craft wire. you can get it in all kinds of different sizes, and when done properly, it looks great. Cut off a strand of the wire to the length that you want it for weapons, ropes, etc, then cut a smaller piece. when you've got the smaller piece cut off, start cutting it up. cut it up to small pieces, just big enough that you can still wrap them around the longer piece. Wrap all the small pieces around the longer piece, leaving the ends undone as "barbs".
