I was just sitting here thinking about some of the cool old box sets of figures that Jakks did and was wondering if Mattel will ever do anything similar, or if there is even demand for them. I know Mattel has done various 6 (I think) figure sets that I have seen at my local Walmart, but I am talking about the themed sets that jakks did. There were Hulk Hogan three packs, Championship 4 packs, PPV four packs, even packs with one figure but multiple accessories (I remember having a Stone Cold set back in the Bone Crunchin' days), etc. I remember there had even been talk about a McMahon Family set... even though I think that one was scrapped. I loved these and it gave collectors a chance to get some pretty cool figures along with new accessories. A lot of these box sets also came with various styles of championship belts that I think most Mattel collectors would like to have a shot at. Just wanted to guage collectors' opinions on muti packs... I think managers would do well with these sets as well. Think about some of the jakks ones and tell me you wouldn't want Mattel to do the same... LOD 200 with Sunny (or even better (and one that jakks never did) LOD with Precious Paul Ellering), Jimmy Hart with the Hart Foundation, Bobby Heenan with any number of his tagteams... There are endless possibilities! So, in short, I guess I am just asking if anyone else would be interested in these multi figure packs that I used to love. There was just something about seeing those boxes on the shelves with three or four figures in it that got me excited and always made me feel like I was getting more for my money, or something truly special.

They would be great but SO expensive for Elites.

I'd be down for it. I just have a feeling they'll be highly priced, and people won't pay until it gets marked down to clearance

How awesome would a Wyatt Family set be? I know the Elites are already out there seperately (except the Harper / Rowan 2-pack), but usually so expensive to buy, especially for a guy like me who lives in a crappy little town with only a Walmart (who stocks once every blue moon) unless you want to drive at least an hour each way to the nearest Target, TRU, etc. How about an Authority set? Triple H, Stephanie, Orton and Kane? Box sets would be so much better than those 3-packs kmart gets now... Stone Cold, Brock Lesnar and Curtis Axle... What the heck do THEY have to do with each other?! I know Brock is the reason Stone Cold originally left the WWE, but that is a far stretch for a reason for Mattel to package them together. Where does Axel fit in?!

How much were some of the aforementioned Jakks sets back in the day? I'd be all for it if Mattel could come in similar to the price. I really like tag team sets that come together. Like the Rockers.

I know that most of them were around the $20 to $25 range, depending on which store had them. That was for the four packs sets, so I am sure that will never happen nowadays!

I would love to see this personally. Maybe an evolution of the Undertaker? Or an Evolution boxed set would be pretty awesome.

I was pretty happy with "The Shield" 3-pack they did last year..... I'd settle for more sets like this! Too bad the K Mart 3 packs are typically a nonsensical combination of shelf warmers - I guess they just lucked out on this one.

What about Family themed sets such as the Ortons, the Hennigs, Rikishi and the Usos, the Rock's family, the Rhodes, the McMahons?! That could be fun...

Or a 4 Horsemen box set? Sculpts of Flair, Tully and AA already exist, so Ole would be the only original we'd need. Hell, Luger exists now as well, so you could even have him or Wyndham thrown in there! Make them Elites with Arn, Tully and Ole come with their 4-H jackets and tag belts... Flair could come in a suit with sunglasses and world title?! All should have interchangeable hands as well... one fist and the other with the four fingers extended flashing the "symbol of excellence"! JJ Dillan?!

The Midnight Express with Jim Cornette to battle LOD with Precious Paul Ellering?! Each set could come with part of a scale acaffold to assmble when each set is bought to attach to already existing rings?! I'd better stop before I soil myself!!

If they were elite, what would end up happening is they'd included one or two figures that most of us would think are "must haves" and fill the rest with repaints.

No the Six packs have trouble selling they way it is I agree, but wouldn't they sell better if they weren't the same old figures of today's superstars? What if they did box sets of nothing but classic characters that most of us over 35 collectors grew up with. Isn't that why Jakks' Classic Superstars were so popular and blew away the current roster figure sales? Tha Jakks box sets also included new paintjobs or accessories as well. I remember for the longest time the Target exclusive "King of the Iron Rungs" four pack was the ONLY way to get a Stone Cold in his "Austin 3:16" shirt and jeans. Everyone went crazy for that set and they sold out at every Target I could find! If mattel couldn't do all classic superstars, then make those six packs of current characters include title belts (and not those God awful, cheap, dull orange looking plastic ones either but those great, shiny ones with all the colors painted on!) or some sort of "exclusive" paint apps or accessories. Hell, John Cena has a thousand different shirts they could put him in to make him a little different. There just HAS TO BE some sort of "hook" to draw collectors in. Those 6 packs are horrible with the same old figures with the same old paint jobs. If Mattel would jazz those up a little with something different, then I think they would even sell better. That's just me though...

I remember that king of the Iron rung box set.... It warned hard at every target around me. I remember I got it on clearance for like 5 bucks no joke! That Austin and shade less Bret.. That would be awesome and it's a shame we don't have any $30 trios outside of the random *ss Kmart 3 packs. I would love to see NWA Dusty, WCW Dustin, and Cody in green perhaps? I think themed three packs would go over really well, and basics with backdrops/accessories like Piper's Pit or Funeral Parlor at $20 could be pretty cool as well.
