www.ign.com/articles/2014/08/12/gamescom-2014-rise-of-the-tomb-raider-is-xbox-one-exclusiveI'm pissed I was looking forward to getting this game when I upgraded to PS4 and now I can't even play it cause it's a ing Xbox exclusive, that's bullcrap. Tomb Raider was always a PlayStation game so it boggles my mind that they would make a decision like this. They shouldn't have console exclusive games in this day and age. I can understand games made by the platform themselves, like Xbox and Halo or Sony and The Last of Us. But for something like Tomb Raider that's absolute garbage.

I'm not a fan of console exclusives either, at least when they are third party developers, but then again I am not a fan of a lot of things going on in the industry.
This is either timed exclusive or Microsoft paid A LOT of money for this or funded the development of the game.

This kind of stuff has gone on with every console generation ever. Would you be laughing if it was a PS4 exclusive at the expense of Xbox owners? It happens. If you want to play it bad enough, get the Xbox One. That's why I always get all of the consoles, so I don't have to sweat not being able to play games I want.
Exclusives help foster competition which is good for the industry. I promise that you don't want just one console that plays all the games. I mean, look at the WWE once it had no competition.

Yeah, one console that played all of the games would be a terrible idea. I can't even begin to imagine the lengths they would go throw to nickel and dime you just because you would have no other options.

I don't have a PS, nor do I plan on getting one, but it's still a crapsituation. This isn't like Mario Kart being a Nintendo exclusive. This is a 3rd Party Dev nickel and diming their loyal fanbase.

Let's wait to get the details on the situation. It could very well turn out that Microsoft helped with the funding of the title. Or it could be that they threw a ton of money at Crystal Dynamics in order to secure it being exclusive, and if that is the case, can you really blame them for taking the deal?

Does that mean final fantasy should only be on Nintendo Systems because traditionally they were a Nintendo company? When was the last time a Tomb Raider game was ONLY released as a Playstation Exclusive? I can't recall a single one honestly. It's 3rd party. I don't see why anyone should expect a third party to be exclusive to any system. MS obviously offered them the most financially lucrative situation to release their game as an exclusive. Why should any company pass that up? If this was a Sony exclusive and XB1 people were short changed I don't think you would hear nearly as much griping. And of course, odds are that TR will be released as a GOTY edition on PS4 6 months to a year later anyway. So either wait to play it, or get an XB1. I don't see how this is a crappy situation. If you pick sides in a console generation, you are going to miss out on games. It's always been that way, and likely always will.

I'm not a PS fan, I don't have PS consoles, and I don't plan to buy PS consoles. My entire point is that these third party companies shouldn't be releasing them as exclusives to any one system. If Dead Rising 3 is anything to go by. It won't reach PS consoles.

MS likely funded some of the development or gave them a huge check for the right for exclusivity. It would be crazy to pass that up. Games like Bioshock, Mass Effect, and others were XB exclusives that came to PS later.

These games take a lot of money to make and if you can get someone like Sony or Microsoft to fund (or help to) your game or pay you big money to keep it on their console, then why wouldn't you do it? These companies are out to make profit and doing this makes sense.

I have a feeling this is going to be a timed exclusive and that after half a year or a year it'll be out on PC and PS4 as well or at least just PC.

Sony originally bought Tomb Raider off of Sega, and used their moneyhats in the 90's. But when Sony finally gets eaten out people complain. I get the distress but I like the relationship between Xbox and Square as an Xbox consumer. I really think Xbox beat Sony in terms of this gamescom conference. Best time to be an Xbox fan.

It'd be different if it was its own stand alone game but they're marketing it as the official sequel. And yes if it was a sony exclusive done by a 3rd Party I'd bitch about Xbox guys being screwed out of it too. You reboot the entire series on all platforms but the sequel you're gonna say no sorry it's only going to be on Xbox and carter to 1/3 of the fan base it's ridiculous.

I think Sony had the best looking game shown in WiLD.
