So you get pissed off at people who are trying to get fit and healthy?. You get mad at someone using a bit of machinery that wasn't in use technically as you was off it?. Wow, you are selfish. Also, so a person was using "tiny ass weights and taking ages"?. So would a guy who prob just started to workout curl 50 pounds?, bench 100?, leg press 200?, do you even know what their goals are?. No, everyone starts of low and builds their way up. It's more about repetition than the actual weight. I started with 10 pounds weights for a while and worked my way up. Hell, I couldn't care less if people saw me using 10 pound weights. It was something that I was comfortable with. At a gym, it's supposed to be an encouraging and motivating environment and knowing there's someone at a gym that has to see you for 5 days a week, I feel sorry for them. Not every person is going to know what they are doing thus not everyone is a former fitness fanatic/body builder etc. You would be the worst personal trainer ever. Please don't get into that sort of industry dear god.Too late chief, I'm actually starting my course in Community Recreation and Fitness which will give me a Certificate 3 in Fitness, Australia wide. So I'll be a qualified personal trainer in 2 years. Also, I started working out at 108 pounds now I'm 136 and I've only been working out since the start of the year so I know all about the using tiny weights when you start. However if you're not skinny and you're overweight (like this bloke was) it means you would have more muscle than a 108lb skinny bloke and he was lifting lower weights than I was when I started from what I noticed around the gym. Why not give him advice? You tell him how to work out "properly" and you get your machine. Also sharing is caring.

So now everyone has to use the same weight you used when you started?, is that a rule at a gym now as at my gym I believe you use what you feel comfortable using. Jesus Christ. You think an overweight guy is going to have the endurance and ability to curl even 50 pounds 12x4?. Believe me no. I've been in that situation as an overweight individual and it was hard work. So you start small and work your way up. It's not even rocket science. The lower the weight and the higher reps, the more muscle fibres break down thus having high amounts of protein and your fair share of micronutrients mean you can add muscle. You don't realise, everyone on wfigs supports each other in topics about weight loss, gym etc. They are all so supportive. I know of people like TD: James Anderson (sorry bro, I don't remember your username), savage etc who are all supportive and give advice. People like Saint willow who lost tons of weight. Good on you guys (there is more I know) and when people see stuff like that what you wrote earlier; they all backfire on you.

Good on you guys (there is more I know) and when people see stuff like that what you wrote earlier; they all backfire on you. Can confirm; WAY stronger at 220 lbs than I was at 280-330. I was a legit doughball with almost no muscle. Thanks for the name-drop BTW (close enough on username, it's "JWAnderson") Too late chief, I'm actually starting my course in Community Recreation and Fitness which will give me a Certificate 3 in Fitness, Australia wide. So I'll be a qualified personal trainer in 2 years. I hope you do some growing up in those 2 years. Congrats on your progress; that sounds great! Now, imagine on the other side of the gym, a 200+ lb, 6'+ guy who does a lot of heavy barbell compound movements (squat, dead, OHP, rows, etc). Not a powerlifting or aesthetic god. Maybe he's been lifting for a year or two and has some pretty respectable, above-intermediate, numbers. His bodyfat isn't the lowest but he's buffer, stronger, and in better shape that 80% of people in public but just average among the serious lifters in the gym. Imagine him looking over to the machines and thinking to himself "Haha, look at those skinny twigs using the machines; those things don't help you build any muscle! They're going to be skinny twigs for life! Freaking pathetic! I'm going to go post on the internet about how alpha and superior I am to these guys!!" I'll leave you with words of Brodin himself: "Thou shalt not declare yours the one and only True Path to Strength"

Why does going to the gym always have to turn into a dick measuring contest? Because admitting you're going to an actual dick measuring contest would get you weird looks Just close the forums. No post will ever be better than this one. My gym is actually pretty cool. No douches, good mix of people at all fitness levels. Occasional guys loudly dropping crap, but it's almost always on exercises where it's acceptable. I do medicine ball slams, so I can't complain about others too much.

This new gym fad makes me sick and I don't go because of it. I can go for a run or do push ups and sit ups on my own without being around 100 sweaty and smelly tools. I did plenty of time in the gym from 05-10 and then it started getting to the point where EVERYONE HAD TO DO IT. So I bounced. being involved in these "scenes". Its like setting for being a sheep in the pasture.

Guys who drop their weights hella hard. Guys who use a bench or machine I want to use, but take 4-8 mins between sets. Guys that are in far inferior shape to me but insist on giving me tips. Just saw one last night that bothered me.... Guys who work out with their girlfriends or wives, and insist on showing them every workout in detail before letting them do the lift, when it's clear they understand the movement... and sound like far more intelligent people.

I don't usually have any issues at the gym. I workout at a fairly small gym & people just go about their business. If i had to pick one thing, probably the people who don't wipe down the equipment.
I know I've heard people before say they don't like it when another person has their music up so loud that they can hear it. I'm borderline, one of those people. When I'm in the gym, I'm in tunnel vision. I don't want to hear anyone or anything around me. It's not to be a prick. It's just makes things much easier to focus & not hear the person next to me on their phone.

Easily these guys: Always walking around with such weight I could only dream of lifting, not to mention with moustaches I could only dream of growing. Hmph. To be real though, the main points have been hit on the head. Bros with their super loud screamo BS playing on the radio for everyone to hear along with their loud, alpha male grunting. I'm definitely impressed, let me tell you. It also irks me when the girls I see in there aren't all dressed like this for their workouts.

People who dont re rack weights
People who try to force me to use their tips on form and whatnot when I know they're wrong
Friends who force me to use their shitty programs
People who take forever on the treadmill
Fat "coaches" who dont know crapabout lifting and try to act clever
Man, those make me wanna smack a bitch.

Why is it so hard to put weights back? Seriously, someone obviously has to have some justification for it.

Am I the only one that is amused by the fact that someone that looks like they're a member of One Direction (assuming avatar is self pic) is trying to give workout advice.
