Clearly financial stability is a matter of necessity that shouldn't be vilified. My concern however, is questioning the arguments used to justify the unquenchable hunger for wealth that plagues our minds.
Why do we wish to be obscenely rich? What does the act of having more money than you know how to spend accomplish?
Is such wealth worth the bloodshed that is virtually inseparable from the means to achieve it?
Will thrones of gold ease your fear of death, or would it be better to take what you couldn't spend on justified purchases to save your life by using it to help others?
My aggravation is generally directed towards people who claim that money is what's most important in wrestling, but also to those who obsess over it in life in general.
I'm not however, picking a single bone with people who dream of financial stability & not having to worry about foreclosure, while also being to save for the family vacation.
My problem is with people who crave wealth. Who crave in the way that people crave an escape from death; desperately. People who speak with malice towards manifesto of Coherence over Colossal Cash.
Unless you intend to use it for a progressive, altruistic purpose, then the justification for being a Millionaire or a Billionaire is open to reproach.
I'm not saying for wealthy people to just throw their money at any random organization. They should do research & determine how to invest the budget in the way that will help the cause, whichever one it might be, in the most effective manner.
If I'm Mel Blanc & I've made enough money to never need to work again, even if I lived for 800 years thanks to royalties off of Looney Tunes & I'm dying of cancer, I wouldn't be smiling in spite of it because of the millions I made. I would be smiling because I fulfilled myself as the best, damn, voice actor that ever slobbered on a microphone. I would be smiling because I spent a collective 35 years worth of hours doing my impressions for children in hospitals, burn wards, calling them on their birthday as their favorite character upon request from fan mail(missing less than 100 out the 200,000 that wrote me). And I would be smiling because I made it through my life with the love of my life at my right & my son on my left, dancing through life bringing joy to millions without harming anybody beyond the occasional curt remark when I was in pain.
To me that is a life well lived. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

The ones who say money can't buy happiness are the ones that don't have to worry about where their next meal comes from or which bill they'll put off paying this month.

Before I start, I look to cause no trouble with what I am about to say, only to widen the eyes of those in the world. Without going into a full on diatribe, I can say this; money is paper, nothing less, imho. The world once went around by people helping people, not by money. It can happen again, all while keeping our same lifestyles (minus massive houses for everyone, as we want nature to exist), and taking care of everyone. We could automate so many things, and then people wouldn't have to work, only pass knowledge from one generation to another as to how to keep the machines in tip top shape. We would need people to fix them when they are busted, but that falls under a slight human necessity to do that job, at that point. People could do whatever they wanted in life, and imagine how much imagination we would see, and further we would be along. Non automations would be done by people who actually like doing them. Money hinders progress of humans, because, instead of cures, or going forward with inventions, we do "treatments" or downstep inventions, so we can make the most money. Think about never having to worry about living, but focusing on being happy. Utopia, I know, but it is much more than a fantasy than people want you to think. I do not mean to make a scathing remark of anyone, but even though I am not sure, power and ego seem to play a hand at why these things happen, the current way, all things being equal. Bertrand Russell talked about this with "In Praise of Idleness," way back in 1937. Though he is close, I do not feel it is perfect;but at least it is a start.
One last thing, even outside of transcendentalism, people are working to stop death, and bring everyone back. I am. It is better to believe it can happen, than not. Things never tried, never happen. Understanding that everything is possible, is the key to life, despite what a lot of us may have been taught.
Peace be with us all, and death never visit anyone, or anything again. As always, much love and respect.

no but it fills the void in my wallet lol. They say money cant but happiness, which I disagree with. I buy my gf flowers and it makes her happy, that makes me happy. Money means another month of a roof over my head and my bills paid, that makes me pretty damn happy lol

While being rich would definitely be comforting and having money is a good feeling, being exceedingly rich is not something I need to have in life and it certainly wouldn't by any means make me happy. In the end I value friendship, family and love far more over any material possessions or wealth. As long as I have money to get by, look after those I care about and occasionally treat myself, then I'm good. I don't need to be rich to be happy.

I already acknowledged this in my post. I know money can buy happiness, look at our figure collections. I'm questioning human thinking in regards to greed & a desire for unjustified luxury.

I don't know if being rich makes you happy (because it seems a lot of people who are rich are still unhappy, especially sports people, or musicians, and actors who sometimes end their own life when they are rich) but I think that if you are rich, it would probably make you feel at ease.
You wouldn't have to worry about tomorrow at all, or worrying about keeping up with everything that you want in your life. I think though, that the ones who are well off like that, don't appreciate it enough and take it for granted, where as people who don't have it now, would most likely enjoy it.

If I was thin, I'd be happy.
Well, probably not.

I can tell you this, I don't need to be rich to be happy. But I'd feel rich if I didn't have student loans.

In my opinion during the course of my life I'm gonna make money and lose money. I'm very lucky in that I can support my parents and my family. The only thing I honestly worry about is never being able to retire and actually enjoy my life. Money can't by happiness, it can buy peace of mind however. Not worrying about bills is a huge relief. I remember being younger and scraping to make car payments, insurance etc. Once I finally was able to cover all my expenses it was a giant weight off my shoulders. What I believe we need to be happy in life is good companionship. Some of the best times of my life were when I was in college broke with my buddies doing stupid things at all hours of the day and night. Also all the money in the world can't buy you good health.

No, there are a lot people who have high paying jobs but are always miserable. I myself dont need to be rich to be happy, I just want to be paid what I feel I am worth and not be totally broke.

It does not fill a void or make anyone happy. But what sucks is that a lack of money can make you miserable and live a life with no enjoyment, and even worse a life without comfort. By comfort I mean secure housing. Secure transportation, and secure meals every day. It sucks... Money is the stupidest thing ever created...

I only have a void in my life from money, when I'm unable to have simple things that I need or want. And when money is preventing me from having this, or doing that, yes I feel a void.
Usually when I complete my 'want' list.. Money no longer holds real power over me as far as keeping me stressed. But I do hate not being able to make decisions or do fun things with my friends because of money.. So there is some sort of void that it fills.
Money is powerful regardless of your outlook on the subject.. Decisions are influenced by money.
That's just life.
