For the past several pay-per-views, the stages have all been the same weekly programming stages for Raw, SmackDown, Main Event, and Superstars. SummerSlam is booked at the second-biggest event of the year, and yet its presentation has no distinction from any other "free TV" show, nor any of the recent pay-per-views. I know WWE is trying to cut costs (or rather cut corners). I just think it's sad that there was nothing unique to remember, as pay-per-views have usually had memorable subtleties like these. Having that "big PPV feel" is something that adds to the "value" of paying a premium to watch it.

I agree. I don't mind if they have the same stage for PPV's as long as it gets changed every 3 or so years. Royal Rumble 2013 was one of the best in recent memory (not including Manias because it's unique each year). This year I was expecting the same stage, maybe change a few lighting rigs around and I would've been fine with that. Instead we had the weekly HD Stage with different graphics. It just seems so lazy and bland. I want to see a PPV and the stage can really make that. I see the weekly stage and it's like what the ? Is it really costing them too much to put one say circle panel to the left, the other to the right, the Titantron and the Minitron in the centre?

Yeah I noticed this too, I remember the set ups they used for PPV's in the past and they looked way cooler.

It was pretty much the first thing I noticed. 'Several' is an exaggeration though, the HD stage was only used at Battleground and Royal Rumble.

Still, 4 is a high number to use the weekly stage. If they still had Bragging Rights, yeah sure but not for the others.

I just looked it up and you're right, they also used it at Money In The Bank too. I thought they used the same stage as previous years. Night Of Champions always has a unique stage with the columns and banners. If those are gone then we might be seeing the HD stage more often.

If the columns are gone, then they might as well not have a stage, it was one unique stage they hadn't changed and I don't think it should be changed.

Yeah, that Summerslam stage yesterday was really lame. Budget to blame? Who knows.

I miss the days when the PPVs had unique stages. There were some really awesome ones.

eh, with all the other crap going on it's the least of my worries.
id be fine with them only having the unique stage for Wrestlemania. its the biggest event by far anyway id like it if they just used the normal stage but added props to it for each PPV instead, like ladders for MITB, Some type of title belt props for NoC...etc.

Nothing stands out anymore. White ropes and the HD set are so annoying.

But now with the Network a lot of people aren't paying a premium to watch PPV's these days, which is probably the main reason why they don't have the special PPV stages any more. It's most likely one of the casualties of the recent budget cuts.

Yeah, it was the first thing I noticed and I hated it.
They've been using the same stage for Summerslam for 3 or 4 years now, I'm not sure why they didn't go that route. I would imagine that already own all the pieces since they've used it so many times already. At the very least, it's different than the norm.

If it's the same stage you see 4 times a week on free TV, then they can surely add some special significance to these special events. Even if things are just rearranged differently, do something to make it seem bigger than a weekly Raw.

Same bland stages and the same white ropes piss me off more and more each year.

I could care less what the stage looks like. All I worry about is what goes on in that ring. SummerSlam was so good, they could have had a hole in the wall with sparklers and I would have been content with it.

Well when a company is firing everyone and cutting everything, I would probably NOT expect brand new PPV stages every month.

I think it's a nit-pick, but I get ya...
Mostly I think the big 4 (and really just the "big 3") should have special staging.
