For those who don't know, I'm a senior in high school this year and I am 17 years old. Time is flying by man. It's weird to look around at all of these people and remember that we were once playing with little toy cars and what not.
I'm growing up...FAST. As time pasts, fear grows. I have had a passion for wrestling since I was about three years old. At first, I wanted to become a pro wrestler, then I realized that just wasn't for me. That hasn't changed the fact that I still want to be involved with the wrestling business. So, I thought about other options and I found out exactly what I want to be...some form of journalist or writer for the WWE or other wrestling federation(Similar to what Joey Styles is today).
I know it's a shot in the dark, but it's something that I want to do. I recently found out, there is a wrestling promotion by me that has shows and has wrestlers such as Rhyno, Sabu, Alex Shelley, Jimmy Jacobs, and more. I have yet to attend a show, but I know I will soon. I want to get an opportunity to just speak to them and ask about breaking into the business. I know it all sounds dumb.
Now, on to my problem. Wrestling involves a lot of traveling and such. The thing is, all of my friends have their license, but I dont. I have my permit, but not my license. This may sound stupid, but I have a fear of driving. Every day, I hear about someone getting into a car accident. I may be able to drive fairly well, but I can't control how others drive. That is what makes me think this career choice may not be for me, because I don't drive. I'm not going to take a local bus to get around because there are plenty of creeps and what not aboard those things.
I just need help on what I should do or what you guys think as I have to begin applying for college soon. That's another thing: I kind of don't want to go away for college because I have no transportation. I asked this question and came here for help because I consider everyone here a family of sorts. I have to have college applications turned in a few months from now.
Also, I wanted to know if anyone has this same fear as me.
Please don't troll around as this is a serious subject to me. Thanks for all who reply in advance!

I hear ya buddy. I got my license back in October but every time I have to drive I'm very nervous. I can drive fairly well but I feel like I'm not fit enough yet. Also I find it way easier when the roads are nearly empty and I'm not bothering anybody. The thing with all of this is just too keep practice driving and one day it will be comfortable.
Your case seems to be different. You just have to live with the fact that you can't control others but you can try to be as cautious and observant as possible so if someone else makes a mistake you won't get into trouble. To be honest I would try to get over it as soon as possible because it would be a shame if you had to give up a career path just because you're too afraid to drive.

Hey, people have accidents in the shower everyday too, yet (I hope) you still shower! Ain't nothin' to worry about.

I understand man. Driving makes me nervous and I'm older than you. I relate. But we can work through it! Be positive!

i cant imagine being an adult and not having my license. if u dont have a license you'd have to depend on someone else and having to depend on someone else for things would get annoyin and incredibly frustrating. i understand ur scared but take it head on and conquer it. u can do it my friend.

It sounds like for you, getting your license is a necessary evil. I have total faith you have it in you!

I hate driving, not that I have a fear of it, I just hate every driver on the road. Everybody drives like an idiot. It's why i refuse to get my regular license. I only drive when I need to take my grandma to an appointment, shopping or whatever.

Don't be scurred man. Once you start driving, you'll love it (most of the time). I'm not sure where you live but I enjoy driving except for the winter months.
Anyway, start off in empty parking lots and back roads/side streets where there isn't much traffic and gradually start driving on more travelled roads.

I've never once felt scared to drive. I've been in a few collisions. I was in a wreck once where I was the only person to have walked away from the accident with my life. Driving is very serious. Im not trying to scare anyone here, im just saying take driving very seriously.
On the positive side, I've driven for years and thousands of miles with out any incidents.
Now on to you wanting to be a wrestler. I would strongly suggest you first go to college. Wrestling should be like a hobby. If you're good at the hobby then maybe think about going pro. But go to school above all.
Look at most shoot interviews. When ever I watch a shoot interview it seems like if a guy had some kind of education then their time in wrestling was a fun job. Guys with some kind of college background tend to, I think, do better in wrestling and can walk away at any moment.
I guess what im saying is this. Let wrestling be something you want to do in life not something you want to do for life.

I can kinda relate, back when I was learning to drive. I ended up delaying a bit, and didn't get my license until I was 17, because i was nervous to operate a vehicle. It didn't help the first time I ever drove on the road it was raining too. Like others have said, the more you get to it, the easier it will be. BashcrashWiley's advice seems best, start small and move up with driving, allowing you to get more comfortable with it. Afer a while, you'll forget about your fear of driving, and have it replace with anger towards others on the road lol.

the only way to overcome it is through experience. accidents happen, I've been in a few fender benders and have moved on and learned from them. I used to have a fear of driving people now I drive people everyday. I don't do parkways though- that's definitely an issue I need to overcome. like I can drive on parkways it's just getting on that can cause me nerves. Once I'm on I'm good.

I drive a manual and I recently got a Volkswagen golf as a new car and man, I have been having a fear of driving and it's like I really hate driving now.
But, get a license. You do feel like you have more freedom and Independence. You gain more experience driving and you get more confident however it's just new cars do it for me as all cars are different and can take a while to get use too I.e. biting point, gears etc.
You'll be fine (:

It is absolutely an important and serious thing; driving. I get that you have a fear and I don't blame you - lots of idiots on the road, no matter what country you live in.
I wish you the best in what you decide to do, and know that despite myself having driven for years, my late mother refused to drive all her life as she had a fear as well - what I wouldn't give to drive her around once more...
Anyway, all the best.

Isnt he currently not in wrestling? I just feel like wrestling is one of those things where very few people get to live comfortably doing it.
