Michelle Rodriguez on all this casting minorities in white characters roles: "That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. I think it's so stupid because of this whole minorities in Hollywood thing. It's so stupid. Stop stealing all the white people's superheroes. Make up your own. What's up with that?". To add to her point, there are a ton of minority super heroes, some already exist in the MCU. I don't remember who said it here but if they're so hell bent on diversifying the MCU, give Falcon a more prominent role, make Black Panther a vital part of the Avengers, not to mention you already have an established Nick Fury as the head of the entire thing. Exactly. This isn't some double standard on my part, I just want the characters to be authentic. I don't want a white guy playing War Machine or Blade (I freakin' LOVE Wesley's Blade so much). I don't want a Korean Cyclops or a dwarvern Captain America.

Hollywood views it as throwing said demographic a bone.. And it's actually really insulting.

I'm surprised any black actor would accept or even audition for a white character.

I seriously hate the fact that one of my current favorites being Miles Teller is the "star" of The Fantastic Four.
Almost makes me want to give it the benefit of the doubt but i just can't...

But as long as hollywood does this and actors accept, it will continue to happen.

I don't really understand that perspective at all, but to each his own.

Rumor going around now is that Dylan O'Brien nailed his audition and was offered the job. And that he will be facing off against the Sinister Six and proving to Iron Man he belongs with the Avengers. Drew Goddard is supposedly set to direct.
I'm absolutely okay with ALL of this!

I would have loved to have Logan Lerman but he's obviously doing just fine without Marvel. I'm not that happy with them wanting to continue the Sinister Six story, and I think it's silly to have Spider-Man face off against 6 villains to prove to Tony Stark he deserves to be an Avenger. I'll just take all this Spidey stuff in stride, but so far I'm really not pleased with the direction Sony is wanting to take the character in.. Like I said a few weeks ago, Sony is getting to have their cake and eat it too.. They get a ton of control and influence without having to show their name. Sh*t they're not even scrapping their original plans from the LAST Spider-Man franchise with Garfield.. Dylan O'Brien even kinda has an Andrew Garfield look to him. Rumors are that they're going to call it "Spectacular" Spider-Man too? Ugh.. I was so, so happy at the idea of Spider-Man being with Marvel, but Sony's involvement bothers me a great deal. And I'm not even excited honestly...

If you Google Dylan O'Brien the reports are making the rounds now.
I'd rather they start smaller than 6 villains, but if we are skipping a PP origin story then I guess they would have more time to establish the Sinister Six also. Introduce the symbiotes in the sequel. With potentially Carnage in the third. That way Sony can have their Flash Thompson/Venom solo film that they've been wanting. I have full faith in Kevin Feige, and with him in charge I believe they can tell a great story this time around.
That being said... If we do get a high school Parker, I want us to be introduced to Flash, MJ, Harry, and maybe even Gwen immediately.
Naturally Flash would have a smaller role. But let the character be known. Much like they did with Bucky in Cap. Introduce MJ also. But maybe don't start a romantic relationship till the sequel. Have her be the unattainable girl. And even if Harry goes to private school, I really want Harry & Peter's relationship to be established early on. Let them be best friends even though they have a completely different upbringing. I'd have Gwen just as a cameo. You know she exists but do not have her as part of a storyline yet.

So are they continuing the storyline of the ASM movies? Or have I totally picked that up wrong?

They just as well use Garfield instead of a discount Garfield.
Plus 6 villains in 1 movie is a HUGE mistake.

No from what I understand it will have nothing to do with Andrew's potential Sinister Six. Just an all new version. Now IGN says that it will not be O'Brien, but I still think it's a good chance he will be. He looks like Peter...

He looks like he'd suffer from the exact same problem that Garfield's did (hipster pretty boy).

I've never seen this kid, but looking at wiki he was on the MTV Teen Wolf show which is not a good sign. Garfield is at least a fantastic actor, even though I didn't feel like he was right for the role. I also really hate the idea of having a 23 year old interacting with Avengers that are in their mid 30s, 40s and 50s respectively. Garfield and particularly Maguire are both in an appropriate age bracket for Avengers considering the other actors.

Though I don't have a huge lot of faith in a Spiderman movie going forward.

Dylan would be my frontrunner and I hope he gets announced soon.

O Brien was easily the best thing about Teen Wolf. He had great comic timing as the sidekick as often stole the show.
He was also excellent in the maze runner. So yeah I'd love him for the role.
