Wasn't there supposed to be a football player making a guest appearance tonight?

They only invited him. They didn't promise he'd be there.

He was signed to another team, so there wasn't a reason for him to show up. I doubt he would have anyway. If he had gone on RAW and vented and ranted about how he was cut, he'd never play football again.

Jerry Springer finally called them back.

They had to use his time to honor other people who had nothing to do with wrestling...Joan Rivers, Jerry Springer, etc...
In all honesty though he signed with Dallas like the day after they announced inviting him.
I think WWE was looking for any celebrity talent, no matter how little of a name they were, to show up for the season premiere.

He didn't belong there anyway. Agreed. Really glad he didn't end up on the show, has nothing to do with the product. Not to mention anyone outside of the US would be wondering who the he is.

He didn't belong there anyway. Especially when any other 7th round pick wouldn't be invited anywhere.

Once he signed with the Cowboys, WWE retracted their invitations.

I hope they invite Ray Rice for next week... So he can get attacked ? Not just by angry fans but likely by the workers.

I didn't know who he was so I couldn't care less. I also don't know why Joan Rivers got a tribute video either, the comments by Cole would've sufficed.

They uninvited him, because they realized that he would not be of any use to the show.

I hope they invite Ray Rice for next week... Just as long as any of the divas don't get in an elevator with him.

Joan Rivers got a video because she was a ing legend and her being around when she was brought some pretty big attention to the WWF. The short video was very classy of them.

Joan Rivers found a way to keep herself relevant and in the public eye.
