I used this site a lot way back in the day a good 8+ years ago

Yes it is indeed possible, though the last time it happened was a while ago. So it may have been that.

I didn't realize accounts got deleted for inactivity from time to time. Definitely glad I've signed in every once in awhile over the years.

Even if you did get your old account back, i'm pretty sure those post would have been archived and you wouldn't be able to access them.
