Did a little poppity POP shopping today. Added Teen Titans Robin, Suicide Squad Boomerang, Unmasked Deadshot & Diablo to the collection. That finished out my Suicide Squad POPs. Also added Joker, Harley & Ivy to the Animated Series collection which finished it out as well.

Has anyone been finding the Alpha 5 Pop recently? I'm wondering if he's still around in WMs down in the States.

I know me too. I just hate that there's a Finn chase though...as it could literally be anything (Demon paint, non-painted, GITD Demon paint, alternate paint scheme, etc.)
The collecting community is steadily starting to turn big time on Funko for including unique chases in virtually every single series now. Before the huge Pop boom within the last 6 months - year, most chases were either just glow in the dark or metallic versions of mass released characters.
Now instead they've started creating exclusive 1 time molds for chases and its screwing collectors big time because scalpers and greedy online retailers are tripling and quadrupling prices on them.
A good example of this is Stranger Things. The blonde wig wearing Eleven was an instantly iconic look so naturally everyone and their moms wanted one in Pop form. Instead of making that version a Hot Topic/FYE/whatever exclusive, they made it a chase piece that comes 1 per case of 6. The ST series hasn't even fully hit retail in most places and the chase Eleven is already fetching $60-70 on Ebay with absolutely no chance of going down in price.
I'm dreading what they're gonna do with this Finn. Don't be surprised if the mass release is unpainted "Finn Balor" and the chase is a painted "Demon King".

As long as there's still a version of the character available at mass release, then I don't see that there is any problem at all. Chases and exclusives are not new to the hobby. tldr= Can't please everybody. Make it a chase? People have a problem with it because they can't find it. Make it a store exclusive? People have a problem with it because they don't have that store near them. Make it a con exclusive? People have a problem with it because they can't go to the con. Make it at all? People have a problem with it because it wasn't a different figure or a different pose. That's one of the main reasons why I've almost completely withdrawn from the Pop community. I don't write articles anymore or post on reddit, funkofunatic, or any of the other places I used to because everyone has a problem with something and they make it seem like Funko did it JUST to spite THEM personally. Being disappointed is one thing, (I was disappointed that Qui-Gon and Indiana Jones aren't more readily available. I was disappointed that the "Zed Word" Ed variant from Shaun of the Dead was just a repaint and not a new sculpt), but I have seen people have nuclear meltdowns (both online AND in person) over a vinyl toy, and it seriously just sucks the fun out of something that used to be a kick ass hobby. I hate doing that hipster thing, but being in this from almost the beginning has allowed me to watch it grow and evolve, and there's a part of me that doesn't like where it's gone. I almost long for the days of niche releases when nobody knew what the hell a Pop was.

I hate doing that hipster thing, but being in this from almost the beginning has allowed me to watch it grow and evolve, and there's a part of me that doesn't like where it's gone. I almost long for the days of niche releases when nobody knew what the hell a Pop was. Yeah I bought my first Pop in 2012, so I've been at it for a while too and also remember when you could walk into a Hot Topic/comic book shops and casually browse around an awesome selection and pick up Pops at your own pace. Now it's become a chore to even try and keep up with what's coming out when and where. Literally every 3-4 weeks there's some new (wherever/whatever) exclusive that everyone wants. I don't mind chases/exclusives at all. Chase/exclusive items are a part of almost every specialty collector's line imaginable: - Sports cards have autograph/memorabilia inserts - Action figures have variants (like Mattel's chase Slammy/die cast belt/PPV chair figures) - Video games even have different stylized boxes with certain content at release (DLC, t-shirts, props, statues, toys, etc) And that's all well and good but the problem isn't that there are chases, it's the fact that they've went away from the good ol' days of "metallic/GITD 1 in 6 Martian Manhunter/Batman/Joker" and are now moving towards a "Hey remember the most iconic costume/moment/character from (show/movie/comic/etc.)? WELL IT'S A 1 IN 6 CHASE NEVER TO BE RELEASED AGAIN. GOOD LUCK." and the fact that every factory sealed case of 6 of that specific character is guaranteed a chase so collectors/scalpers with extra $$$/time have just monopolized the game by going online and ordering a set of 6 of that character at a time. Chases aren't even making it to stores anymore, and if/when they do, employees usually grab them instantly for themselves. That's not a fun system like random inserted baseball cards that everyone has a fair, equal chance of getting or deciding which DLC pack and steelbook game case you want based on preordering your game at GameStop/Best Buy/Amazon/etc. I DEEPLY long for the days of people looking at my Pops and saying "These look dumb/ugly." and passing them by in the stores. Now almost every other store in the mall has mountains of them crammed into their display windows and retailers with exclusives like Hot Topic are flooded with calls/collectors/scalpers with the first 15 minutes of rolling up the shutter trying to snatch up anything and everything that might be remotely resellable in sight. For example the ECCC exclusives...there were numerous exclusives offered but the only two I wanted were: - WWII Captain America (for my wife for her b-day in a few weeks) - Stranger Things Upside Down Barb/Eleven set (since we're massive ST fans and are trying to do a complete set including chases, repaints, etc) Those two items went online at HT last night around 10-11 as shared exclusives. I ordered mine instantly and luckily so since they sold out before the sun even came up. Then I actually went to HT this morning to pick up a different order and browse around. My HT opens at 10 A.M. I was standing inside of the store by 10:30. Every single ECCC exclusive was long gone. 30 minutes. They got about 10 each. Last year and the year before that I went around 5-7 in the afternoon and they had PILES of the shared exclusives still laying around and retained some for weeks afterwards. (^ that's just me irrelevantly ranting lol. Mostly because I felt bad for the guy who proudly came up behind me in line requesting an ECCC Captain America with an absolute look of pure confidence on his face just knowing he made it in time...only to be crushed by the cashier who told him they were sold out) tl:dr too: Chase pieces are cool and ultimatly can make collecting more fun, but when they're poorly handled/distributed and when characters/looks that should have absolutely been mass released start taking those chase slots it stops being fun, becomes tiresome, pricey, and starts killing the enjoyment which in turns kills the hobby.
