R2 is in the second series of the retro comic ones so as snd when I see him I’ll have to get him But R2 as a whole I struggle with in funko, I don’t like how boxed he looks, I think funko could’ve done in their style but more rounded

Went to smyths today snd they had a cardboard shipper with funko discount printed on it
Also today snd scruple of days ago went to the entertainer to try and get the bret and Shawn and the funkos are moved snd there’s much less on display.
I saw a video online which said some us comic book stores are no longer stocking them as they’re struggling to move the stock they have
I love funkos but defo think they’re waaay overdone in franchises and numbers (example: friends ones of all the main characters was cool but then they did another series of Rachel in the pink dress etc snd other riddle specific ones. Same for the US office etc)
has the bubble burst?

In my opinion, yes. I view them like Beanie Babies now. Once a hot item, but now passe.

I do think the one thing funko has going for them over beanie babies is they have Star Wars etc which will always be hit and have collectors, but smaller franchises not so much But I watch the funko mystery boxes online and they talk snout figures being worth £50-£300 but even if prople were paying that I think the prices will drop fast. People who were holding these as investments might be bricking it

Not to be a @$$hole or anything but the beanie baby comparison is the absolute dumbest thing I hear people bring up. Beanie babies was stuffed animals and Funko Pops has the biggest licenses in the world,I'm sorry I'm not seeing it. I've been hearing those same comparisons before I got into them over 6 or 7 years ago,the whole toy/collectible market is down right now after the pandemic its definitely not just Funko. A lot of scalpers are getting out of the toy/figure/collectible markets that's bringing prices down on newer stuff, look at older stuff its keeping its value.
End of rant lol, finally got my Wasps from Amazon today. Ordered two and got a chase.

Been a hot second since I bought any Funko Pops, but I was hunting for Marvel Legends last night and found some that I was dying to get my hands on.
Got myself the Tobey, Garfield, and Holland Spider-Men! Got both the Integrated and Edning suits for Holland's Spider-Man. Also found Ironheart Mk2 from Wakanda Forever

I don’t think pops are going anywhere, every time in a store there’s always people buying them including myself but I’m a bit cautiously worried about the WWE line outside of the US and the shortage of stock a lot of places get at the mo.
Outside of funko Europe (who themselves get tiny amounts of stock it seems at times) and Entertainer it seems like most well known places are scaling back.
Said a few times recently so sorry if I’m a stuck record but Smyths haven’t updated in months. Popinabox have completely stopped selling the thing they’re known for and the less said about the wwe Euroshop the better.

Not worried in trying to get it. Thanks for looking out though 👍🏻

Sorry i dont know how to put up pics but It doesn't look like the Wal-Mart one to me unless I'm just forgetting. Still dont know if its worth $25 + ship for such a small difference tho.

Yeah it’s different than the Walmart one. This one was released before the Walmart one. There’s a common version and a Panini exclusive with minimal difference, both are on Funko site. So in total there’s 4 Steph releases of these. Actually 5 because the very first one had a Panini exclusive too.

Yeah I mentioned in mine the star wars example in terms of franchises I do think we will see them massively scale back on things like ad icons etc. like unless you collect funkos would you want the honey nut cherios bee etc? I think they’ll end up with Star Wars, Harry Potter, sports stars etc but less of the niche stuff

They have them in sodas and I’m sure they call them pogs

My nephew loves the old beanie babies we still had in the basement, so there’s that. I even got him a few Christmas ones as Christmas gifts.
As for poggs, surely I must still have mine somewhere.

Funko has nothing to do with the old Pogs company, that's just how you tell the difference of a chase and common but they're similar(lets be honest, they pretty much ripped them off)
For the question of being like Pogs,no I don't see it either. These are its own niche imo, something like the old bobble heads and a figure mixed. The reason it seems they have been so successful, is because they have so many different licenses but all looks the same on display. What other company makes a Iron Man, Darth Vader, Pikachu,TMNT,Peter Griffin,The Rock etc, etc, etc and they all look the same in your display? Thats the reason I definitely don't see them just selling Star Wars,Potter etc. The Anime stuff is what people brags on more then anything they make. I see them going after more and more licenses personally.
I think all the other stuff they make like the new bitsy stuff is what's gonna end up in the landfills like the games already has.
