I couldn't stand the guy when he first debuted, but ever since he a had series of matches agains D-Bry I've been a fan of his in-ring work. I still can't get behind his character though...and it's probably because of how he's booked.

Sheamus is awesome in the ring. Always has been. He's got a helluva unique look too...and he's proven that he can carry as an interesting character.
The WWE (as usual) is writing/booking him HORRIBLY. Until that changes, I don't see him being any more than just...a guy on the roster who's good.

Sheamus reminds mw of the gypsy side of my family working class, work hard play hard no days off, all day every day quickly becoming one of my faves

Ever since returning at the 2014 Royal Rumble, Sheamus has been demonstrating some of the highest levels of physicality across the spectrum of match components. More so than any wrestler on the roster in fact. He has walked & wrestled with authority & a dire sense,of urgency for several weeks now. A common motif of his matches has been knee based attacks with remarkable velocity, explosive clotheslines, slams, & backbreakers, on top of hurling himself to the outside in order to knock his opponent's block off. The finest example was his match at Night Champions just this week. He wrestled what was arguably the most physical match of the night, while demonstrating the least fatigue on RAW just 24 hours later. Has anyone else noticed this & how much will he have to ramp up his performances before he becomes a believable threat to Brock Lesnar? Please, elaborate on these fine points. During several of his matches, I've noticed him hurling himself knees first in his opponents in the corner of the ring. His running knee lifts look as though he's trying to put his knee pad through his opponent in a very definitive fashion. As far as the general facets of wrestling match choreography are concerned, the spectrum in which Sheamus operates has not only expanded, but his motion is far more aggressive. It doesn't feel as though he's merely going through the motions when he wrestles. His opening moments of 2014 were spent running into the ring at the Royal Rumble, & he hasn't slowed down since his return. I didn't mean to make it out to be a bigger deal than it is.

He's physical alright, I just wish he wouldn't always take back control with crappy gut punches. I detest it as well, but they want the brawler aspect of his character is emphasized. I wouldn't be surprise if booking wanted to go that direction in order to cover up Sheamus' weaknesses. Imagine if his improvement has been out of feeling insulted by this creative decision.

I've said it before but there's no greater dissonance between character and work rate than Sheamus. His character annoys me more than almost anybody (Jern) but he's a lot of fun to watch in the ring.

As odd as it sounds his arrival to the buildings sometimes is at a frantic pace. A few weeks back there was a house show I went to. I spotted a large man running towards the building a few blocks away. Figured it was a member of the football team unaware of the WWE show until the guy gets near the guard and holds up a security pass. As he rounds the corner to the loading ramp I realize it is Sheamus running full tilt into the building. Craziest arrival I ever saw.

If he didn't do them, and was a full blown power heel, he'd be all sorts of awesome to me. I'm with you on the creative decision Phil; absolutely.
