What was so great about Smackdown vs. Raw 2006? I owned it but honestly don't remember. I'm intrigued. All of those SD vs. Raw games run together to me. All I know is that I played the hell out of GM mode against my brother. I remember building Christian up and my plan was for him to win the World Title in a 6 Pack Challenge at SummerSlam, only for my brother to ruin it by winning the belt as Hollywood Hogan instead.

No Mercy is far from the greatest wrestling game ever. It has been surpassed many times.
Fire Pro, while having amazing creation options, isn't that fun to play because of the clunky controls and you need perfect timing even to beat it on super easy, which is lame as hell.
TNA Impact was really fun - it just needed more of everything.

Wrestlemania The Arcade Game is the greatest arcade WWF game of all time and one of my favorite wrestling games of all time, but the home versions are no where near as good!
Smackdown vs RAW 2011 is the most soulless, lifeless and boring wrestling game I have ever freaking played.
WWE All Stars & Legends Of Wrestlemania were the most fun wrestling games since the original Smackdown vs RAW. Only WWE 13 surpassed them.
Epic Matches people who have these "epic" matches with the AI on the modern WWE games only do it by letting the AI actually do moves on them because even on the higest difficulty settings the games try to hard to be "sim" back and forth action with the AI only happens if you make it happen.
WWF No Mercy This ties into the one above, but despite it being cool to put down No Mercy these days, no WWE game has managed to capture back and forth wrestling as naturally as No Mercy did.
RAW 2 I can appreciate the game's amazing customization, but the game is a freaking broken mess in the game play department. Just try to pin a guy near the ropes and still try and convince yourself that RAW 2 is a "decent" game.
Wrestlefest As much as I loved Wrestlefest if Acclaim and Ocean did not have a strangle hold on the rights to make WWF games for the home. I think that had Wrestlefest been ported to a home computer or console that it would not be held in as high regards as it is.
Royal Rumble Arcade To me this game was every bit as fun as Wrestlefest and had it been left in the arcade and not been ported to the Dreamcast I think it would be held in much higher regard.
WWF Super Stars WWF Super Stars on the game boy is the best "8-bit" WWF game that was ever made. No other game, even the 16-bit ones actually came close to matching the feel of the WWF at the time.
WWF RAge In The Cage is the most over rated wrestling game of all freaking time. Honestlu this game sucks and the only people who seem to think its the pinnacle of the 16-bit WWF games are people who never actually played the game. Both WWF RAW and Royal Rumble are far better than Rage In The Cage.
that is all I can think of guys, went of on one a bit really here didn't I lol.

The reason people like to hate on No Mercy is because VPW2 did the same thing as it did, only way better. I can accept your opinion, even though I don't consider the computer reversing everything as an accurate representation of a match unless you're talking about Lynn vs RVD, I just wanted to shed some light on why we all seem to dog on No Mercy.

Its funny you say that because for over a decade I have had people tell me I need to play the VPW series yet for some reason I have just never had any desire to do so. And pretty much everyone who says it says the same thing that its better than the AKI WWF games. Ah one day I will get round to it lol.

No Mercy is insanely overrated -- it was great fun at the time, but it hasn't aged well and definitely isn't better than the last few WWE games (and I say that as someone who is by no means a big fan of the gameplay on those either).

WWE 12-2k14 are the best games since no mercy No mercy is THE greatest wrestling game of all time with all the mods and hacks that can be done to it through emulator. I can have any company I want with great matches to boot. Fire pros game play is better than it's siming. I have competitive matches that i rarely lose on a 5 setting at 125% speed plus I have 500 created slots. I can't sit and watch sims it's boring as hell when doing a tournament id rather play the matches
EDIT: recently downloaded a translated re-textured(for the most part) version of VPW 2 and it's no better Than no mercy it's relatively the same the only thing that's really excited me is when playing Lesnar vs Giant Bernard Lesnar ate a German suplex immediately got up and speared Bernard. VPW 2 is no better than no mercy maybe slightly less impressive even considering the customization isn't as broad as No Mercy

I don't enjoy the music playing during matches.

I don't enjoy the music playing during matches. I forgot to mention that. I absolutely hated the music playing during the matches. It was very distracting, especially with Here Comes the Pain's awful OST.

One thing I just thought of is how in the early Smackdown days the camera would be facing the entrance stage which I always thought was cool. But then they chaned it so the games would have more TV style presentation. Its not a huge deal, but I always liked seeing the stage in the background.

only my crazy opinion, but...
1. WWF WrestleFest (1991) Arcade Game, WWF Royal Rumble for Sega/NES, WCW/NWO Revenge are the most fun games to play, even today
2. I'd much rather spend my time on WWF Steel Cage Challenge for Nintendo, or WWF Super Wrestlemania for Sega than half the Smackdown vs Raw's
3. I loved WWF Attitude for Playstation when doing elimination matches where someone is simply gone when you hit a finisher (finishers only, no pin)
4. I'll forever be upset that WWE Smackdown vs Raw games never included Carlito's double springboards, or much of his great 2006 baby face move set, but whatever year he wore the yellow attire is the most free flowing gameplay I've ever seen - Unsure what year, but my fav SVR is the year you could draft for 3 shows & run GM Mode (2008 maybe?)
5. I won't buy another game until you give me all of my content from the beginning & not ask me to pay extra for characters I should have...and until they can put more people in the ring at once, in order to create a true battle royal & tag team battle royal scenario

I think "shut your mouth" is better than "here comes the pain". I got a Nintendo 64 just to play No Mercy and was very disappointed. I found it a very boring game although the different attires were cool. Showdown Legends of Wrestling is my favourite wrestling game of all time.

i disliked SYMs reversal system (if you even call it that, i suppose)
it's so cryptic that it puts me off

I'm perfectly happy playing WWE 2K14 the rest of my life. The only thing that could make me get 2K15 is the Sting pre-order bonus, but I never go online for video games, so I wouldn't even be able to use the pre-order code. If I want to play as Sting in a video game, I have ones that date back to the original Game Boy. Back to the point, 2K14 has all my favorite wrestlers growing up, including the Roddy Piper creation suite formula. Plus, I can make Mr. Perfect the Executive Consultant to CM Punk any time.

No Mercy was boring as all hell.
Svr 07 or HCTP are the greatest Wrestling Games Ever
games after WWE 12 have boring gameplay that make you never comeback to play it
WWE 2K15 I find will be piece of trash game

Killing everybody with Vader in Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 is a blast.
Going through the roster in WWF War Zone for PS1 was one of the most enjoyable wrestling video game experiences I ever had as a kid.

GM Mode was boring as . RTWM in WWE 12 isn't as bad as people say. The free roam RTWM in SVR 2011 are awesome. I found GM Mode way more fun if you play with someone else and compete against each other
