We're now two episodes into the series, and I'm wondering what everyone thinks. I think there are a lot of things to like. For example, I feel like they're nailing The Penguin. He's fantastic. Really, really great. But other characters like The Riddler I feel are cliched and comic book-y. I'm also not a fan of the actor playing Bruce Wayne, or the story they're giving him. And the sets leave a lot to be desired, in my opinion. But I think so far there are more positives than negatives.
Anyone else watching?

I watched the first two episodes.....and I wasn't impressed. I was sceptical of this show for all the right reasons it turns out. As of now I'm out.

As the OP said, some things are good, some aren't. They tried WAYYY too hard to fit in random future villain cameos in the first episode. However, I have enjoyed Jim Gordon and The Penguin. Plus, the Viktor Zsasz stuff in the coming episodes looks cool.

Pretty much sums up what I wanted to say - though I'll probably still watch for a little while longer. Like it's been stated in the DC thread, it's just a cop show using Batman characters.

To me, Jim Gordon just isn't an interesting or in-depth enough character to carry an entire show. Bruce Wayne is awfully young too so I don't expect to see much out of him.
The show is entertaining. It's certainly not bad or anything. I'm just not sure how many seasons of Jim Gordon will keep interest.

I was more impressed by the second episode than the pilot. I liked the quirky villains and showing Selina's personality. I'm also surprised with how violent the show is (in a good way). And I think they're nailing the corruption / overall tone of Gotham.
That said, I think it has lot's of potential. It's definitely rough around the edges with bits of cheesy dialogue and they really need to be more subtle with these future rogues. I'm just looking forward to the cast eventually gelling and evolving into the city and characters we all know and love.

I like Penguin and Catwoman a great deal, but beyond that I'm not really sucked in yet. I think it's been pretty solid so far. It's essentially a cop and crime boss show though. I think that kind of strips away everything that's really awesome about Batman and makes it like so many other shows already on TV. Gordon versus the dirty cops is going to drag on forever. I'm not disinterested, so I'll continue to watch.

After the GIGANTIC disappointment that was called Smallville I could never again want to watch a superhero show on television. I know the focus will be more on drama and cheese and not on action and coolness.

I would have liked to see this be more of a detective, mystery-ish, kind of show rather than your standard cop drama. I also wish they would have gone a different route with Batman's rogues and introduced each one with their own episode.
If the reviews and sentiment to start to get better I'll give it another go but as of now I turned it off 30 minutes into the first episode.

The producers have said that we'll see multiple cameos by people who "could be the Joker" because his origins are supposed to be mysterious.

I thought Smallville always had a positive reception? I haven't seen it so just going off what I've heard.

It lasted 10 seasons and is continuing via comic books, so people must of been watching it/giving positive reviews; if not it would of been cancelled long ago.

It went so cheesy after a while though. there's some good stuff in there but i stopped watching after 5 or 6 years.
