Have him beat the **** out of Show, win the US Title, enters the Rumble match, Ryback returns & eliminates Rusev, then Rusev does the same with Ryback, US Title at EC ends in a draw, Falls Count Anywhere at 'Mania with Ryback winning.

When did the board suddenly become Ryback fans?

If he comes back and gets pushed, will this opinion change?

Rusev's entire character is one big writing flaw. He has no character, except he's a big strong dude who doesn't like America and is undefeated. It goes back to goldberg, who was also a big strong dude who had absolutely nothing character wise except his streak. But that's kind of a lie, since even though WCW had no clue what to do with goldberg once his streak was finished, at least he was ok on the mic and still retained an intimidating in ring presence. Rusev has nothing, and once his streak is over, Lana will be better off. Rusev isn't too believable a monster, and the only reason WWE ever gives anyone an undefeated streak is so someone can come in, topple them, and have the defeated man never recover.

Let's go back to the Path Of Rage that Taz maintained from 1995-97? Might be wrong. Taz was repackaged and given a manager, and a lengthy undefeated streak seeing him defeat jobbers as well as established stars. Then Sabu came into the mix, and the slow steady buildup began from late 96 to 97. There are other details about what made this feud work, including his past history with Sabu, but WWE could take some notes here. Instead of having "Oh look, rusev fights this guy, and beats him" you could have, a little something like this.

Lana: Rusev, other stuff, we don't like americans, blah blah, Putin
*swagger theme plays*
Swagger walks out and stares down rusev. Rusev slowly exits the ring, as swagger rips up the Russian flag that Rusev had in the ring.
Commentators say that Rusev has never shown this amount of fear towards another wrestler
Swagger interupts nearly every redundant russian speech that they have, and then to close out a Raw, Rusev is shown finally across from Swagger in the ring.

Now, realistically if WWE booked Swagger vs Rusev to be a slow steady buildup, it wouldn't be a direct Taz/Sabu knockoff like I just detailed there. However, their feud should not have been "He's here, he fight's him at the next PPV, they're done". Build up interest for your matches, make people want to pay for them.

TL;DR
Rusev's inevitable fall could have easily been prolonged, still can, however the only interesting one so far was vs Swagger, and like I said above, had pretty much no build up.
Rusev's character will essentially be dead after the streak is over.

Like others have said Rusev has nothing going for him except for the stereotypical anti-America heel gimmick. Once he loses his first match what does he have? Lana? The guy can't talk. He is average in the ring. He has no character what so ever. Unlike a guy like Goldberg who had the intimidating factor and was interesting due to his mysterious background, Rusev has none of that. This guy just screams midcard to me. I simply cannot buy this guy ever competing on the level of Cena and Lesnar, or even on the level of future top guys like Roman and Ambrose. I think Rusev can fit a good nich in the midcard and that's fine. I just don't see main event potential from him.

I truly liked him since his SD debut but I kept my mputh shut because he got hated on so mufh.
