I can't believe anyone didn't like Attitude. I played the crap out of it. I played it a lot too. Looking back the gameplay was super wonky, but wasn't every game in 1999? haha. Exactly. At that time I played the hell out of every wrestling game (Nitro, Thunder, LOW, etc) so at the time I never realized how bad some of these games actually were.

I don't think that reverse, reverse, reverse, reverse qualifies as good AI. That's why I said it was cheap AI. Fire Pro also has annoying AI. I'm not good with the timing so even on the easiest level in can be no fun. Easy should be easy. But both games have a ton of awesome things about them. what would you think of WWE: SYM?

Honestly I can't really tell a lot of the SmackdDown games apart. SYM was the third game, the first on PS2, right? I remember thinking the fourth game with Brock and Goldberg awesome.
These game were very popular because they look nice and were easy and fun to play. Hardcore wrestling fans might be turned of by the them, but the average gamer loved them. I remember playing with some kids at the day care I worked at and one of the elementary school kids was all upset when they added stamina/battle damage to the game. He hated that his guy was slow and beaten up after getting thrown of a steel cage!
It's hard to please everybody with these games. WWE 2K15 has more realism with the stamina system - I think it's cool but some folks think it makes the game boring.
And I did like WWF No Mercy, I just liked WCW/nWo Revenge better because it didn't have cheap ass AI and horrible slowdown.

Revenge had no-selling of finishers (They'd just pop right back up) requiring you to do two or three of them. It also had a problem that seems to plague a lot of Aki games, where instead of making it harder to win a match by making finishers harder to get, instead they give wrestlers a random second wind. The roster and overall game make it my favorite out of the AKI games I've played (Haven't played the japanese ones yet). No Mercy was really f'd up. No selling of finishers (to be exact, if you hit them with more then one), the AI reversing everything and the AI's not even that smart, resorting to constantly throwing you out of the ring, taunting, and not making any effort to come and attack you. Plus, even in hardcore matches the AI would try its best to keep you from going backstage. Plus the random second winds.

As for the topic, my answer is Hulk Hogan's Main Event. Nothing beats this in sheer suckitude. Yes, even Backstage Assault. Seriously. Go look up screenshots and watch some videos. You'll need about five gallons of brain bleach afterward. Even then, that may not be enough.

you know I am going to defend WWF Betrayal! The game was not a wrestling game, but it is one of if not the best side scrolling beat em ups on the Game Boy Color. Growing up with games like Double Dragon, Final Fight and Streets Of Rage I got straight into WWF Betrayal and one thing the game does not get enough credit for is the story. This game has the same story for each of the four wrestlers, but the dialogue is changed for each one which is really cool.
Is the game perfect? no not at all I think that there should have been more wrestlers as bosses instead of just the other three playable characters. But yeah I will always stick up for WWF Betrayal lol.

I thought WM 18 for the Gameboy was great too, but the lack of Hardyz disturbed me.

I did too. I think Betrayal has an underground following. If you happened to have a GBC you picked up this game because it had a WWF logo on it. Turned out to be a great game picking a superstar to save Stephanie McMahon. Cult following and I am one of them! I feel like Betrayal needs its own thread started lol.
