Watched the Monday Night Wars last night on the cruiser weight division (must watch) & today I wake up and WWE has this article up on the greatest 100 masked wrestlers: www.wwe.com/inside/100-masked-wrestlers-photos So immediately I really get an itch for some luchador action figures, but realize not many exist and are extremely expensive online. So we all know Bill said he handed a list of wrestlers he liked to create to the WWE for them to try and sign so he can make figures, so I was wondering if maybe a luchador or two are on there. I know Bill has said he really would like to make Psychosis or La Parka, also now that classic Mysterio is out with the cruiser weight title, we need some cruiser weights to dawn the strap. So I thought of perhaps which old WCW cruiser weights are on contract the Mattel can possibly make, well Dean Malenko works for the WWE and Mattel has the license to make Eddie Guerrero. I don't about you guys but I'd love a classic Eddie Guerrero from WCW days. Also Ultimo Dragon had a stint in the WWE & Juventud Guerrera is a former WWE cruiser weight champion. Here are my top 5 wants: La Parka Psychosis Juventud Guerrera Jushin Thunder Liger Ultimo Dragon

I'd be all for a Jushin Liger figure. His entrance music is so cool.

I would love a Juvi most but I would buy all 5 of those guys. Maybe they can do La Parka with a DDP head under the mask haha.

The problem is, most of the luchadors' gimmicks are owned by AAA or other organizations in Mexico, and Liger's gimmick is probably owned by New Japan. Which is probably why none of these were made in any WCW lines or in the Jakks Classic Superstars line. Ultimo Dragon could probably be signed on his own though.

That is perhaps one of the most genius ideas I have ever heard to get around to making a La Parka figure. It can come packaged with a DDP head and a steal chair & La parka maska can be the accessories or an exchangeable head that is the la parka mask, a lot of figures now a days come with interchangeable heads.

I want a Mattel Dean Malenko so bad! As far as the luchadores, I think they make awesome figs, and I know Bill does too. Ultimo Dragon, La Parka, Juvi, Psicosis...I have no doubts that if he ever gets a green light on them we will get them for sure.

Park who was the original La Parka in WCW and his costume is different from the AAA one. Psychosis might be hard, I know for a fact AAA owns that character. I believe Juventud owns the rights to his character as well, as does Ultimo Dragon.

Bill said we will be getting more WCW figures in the future so don't lose hope on Malenko, plus he is an agent for WWE. We already have several WCW figures and Bill said to expect more. Lets go down the list: DDP Arn Flair Tully Nash Giant Macho Man NWO Mysterio Vader Brian Pillman Terry Funk Road Warriors Cactus Jack These are off the top of my head. I expect Hogan, Hall & X-pac to all get NWO versions of them made. Wouldn't be surprised if another WCW Luger is released with Sting in a two pack. Sting is getting a defining moments figure, but back to the cruiser weights. Eddie Guerrero & Chris Jericho both could very likely get WCW flashback figures, I don't see any reason why they would not do it.

Bill literally said La Parka is like the figure he would want to work on the most. It's like his dream figure to design
Someone had a Quote from the MNW last night I forget what exactly they said but it was something like "these guys had no faces no characters " and that's a partial reason why I just can't seem to get into old wcw cruiserweight stuff.

Watching it live was pretty impressive, but a lot of what those guys were doing has become the norm now so I can see the disconnect. The cruiserweight title matches with Guerrero, Malenko, Syxx, Jericho, Mysterio, Ultimo Dragon etc. were some of my favorites.

Yeah spot on. a lot of what they did back then was being seen for the first time by a national audience. Now a days a lot of it is incorporated into every day matches. I remember when I was very very young my father had a VHS recording of Halloween Havoc 97 that I watched one day. That Eddie vs Rey match ing blew my mind.

The WCW cruiserweight division revolutionized an entire industry. I don't agree with it being the norm now a days, while undersized wrestlers have been given more of a chance, the WWE does not allow a lot of the moves performed back then to be performed on a regular basis because of health reasons. The WWE is well known for telling it's wrestler to take a step back. I've been watching a lot of the old cruiser weight matches from back in the day on the WWE Network ( you can also watch it for just $9.99), they still blow my mind and this is coming from someone who watches NJPW, AAA, CMLL. ROH, etc..... It was a real special time in wrestling and a lot of us were lucky to see a fusion of styles become what is wrestling today. But this thread is about toys so I'd like to which cruiser weights you'd like Mattel to make.

Don't forget Billy Kidman! He works for WWE too, so should be easy to get his rights.

Kidman in jorts and a beater would be a good start. It was probably unrealistic to hope for an unmasked Rey at all but now that he's seemingly done with WWE the chances likely went from slim to none.

Don't forget Billy Kidman! He works for WWE too, so should be easy to get his rights. Had totally forgotten about Billy Kidman. Jamie Noble also competed in WCW as James Howard. Mattel could very likely release an entire cruiser weight flashback line right now if they wanted. Dean Malenko, Billy Kidman, Jamie Noble, Chris Jericho & Eddie Guerrero, I believe all are under WWE rights now so I wouldn't be surprised if Mattel makes them down the road, Im sure they will. But I think the real money lies with the luchadors, kids love masked wrestlers. So I truly hope Bill can find someway to give us a flashback of a luchador or two that meant a ton to the business in the 90s. Given Lita's lucha roots I can't wait to her figure comes out. Big lucha mark here who wishes more action figure of famous lucha stars existed.

None of the ones under contract were big enough names to make a figure of. And the ones who aren't under contract definitely aren't worth signing to Legends deals.
I'd like a Kidman though.

Yea it could be a long time before we ever see another Mysterio figure, he looks to be headed to AAA/Lucha Underground. He is not done yet, I think the WWE extended his contract cause of a clause they have that if you are injured they can add the time you missed at the end of the contract.

There are fans who want the gobbledy gooker, Im sure there are many fans like myself who would buy a Dean Malenko & a Billy Kidman. Malenko & Kiddman were HUGE in the 90's
