Set up for the following photos: I work in a Property foreclosure buisiness. Basically I make sure that the general contractors that we hire to rehab and fix up abandoned and foreclosed homes for banks, to get them to sell again, do their jobs correctly. This often requires me to travel and take photos of the homes before and after the work is completed to find any faults or kudos's for documentation and liability protection. I find just about anything in properties. Often times they fall under three cattagories. The person/family that fell on hard times and could no longer afford their home, the older folk that passed away and had no family to take over their assets, or meth labs. In this case I was in a rural area outside of boston, and came upon a treasure trove, of ruined MOC toys. The proeprty was abandoned and we dont know what happened to the previous home owner. The bank foreclosed the property a year ago and it has sat through a pretty bad winter. They finally gave us some work to perform after we told them the roof wasnt going to hold through the last winter - and here are the results. Before you ask, it's illegal for me or any vendor to remove the contents of the property until the original home owner is found and they have a chance to reclaim their belongings, or the local sheriffs office deems it, through the courts, unfit and want to demo the property. Most of the toys may be able to be saved as loose, if boiled and cleaned.

There were TONS of KB toys stickers and bags. I think this guy must have cleaned a few of them out when they were going down.

Damn, I would of had the urge to check out all the stuff that the owner had. A lot of money lost in those figures from damages though.

You have a very sad job. I mean sad in a sense that you go and inspect people's crushed dreams. There have been a few homes near me that were foreclosed. One was very big, the home owner wanted 800,ooo dollars for it. He didnt sell it and it ended up foreclosed. The house stood with no owner for over a year. In that time a Lesbian couple were squatting in the attic. I remember some folks came to the property a couple of times but upon seeing the couple living there they left. Eventually Police came and evicted the women. After that many people went in and out of the home. The home was a disaster, people stole anything that they could. Eventually the bank sold the home for 70,000 dollars.

It is a sad job. It pays well because handeling eveictions and the legalities of the job is no fun. But its a job. Squatters are common, and can be dangerous. I usually leave if i have even a remote thought that someone may be on site. Ive had vendors shot before. We let the cops handle that.
After 2009 most homes have just kind of sat vacant. Commonly the plumbing/kitchen appliances/ac units are stolen.

OMFG......I think I just had a miniature stroke. I wonder what happened to the owner? Theres a decent chance that they've since died. As selling some of these toys would have easily made some house payments or roof repairs.

All of that stuff would have to be thrown out due to mold issues and stuff like that

There is a story making the new sites about a buyer of a foreclosed house finding a corpse. She was probably there for three years since that was the last time the taxes were payed... and I immediately thought of this thread...

They probably went broke because all the figures they wanted to scalp on Ebay weren't worth anything.
Death of a Scalper: A Tragic Tale
It makes me sad to see all those toys trapped in their plastic prisons! Let my people go!

Lots of suicides in abandoned homes as well as people who pass with no one to care to even check on them.
