Monday's episode of WWE RAW did not feature John Cena, but that didn't stop the show from topping 4 million viewers, a healthy increase over the previous week.
RAW averaged 4.04 million viewers, up almost 300,000 viewers from the post-HIAC show (3,745 million). Here's the hourly breakdown:
Hour 1: 4.043 million viewers Hour 2: 4.203 million viewers Hour 3: 3,875 million viewers The boost in viewership was probably helped by the NFL's Monday Night Football drawing the lowest audience of the season thus far.

I'm not a Cena hater, but man, I'm just getting tired of him at this point.

RAW was good, so I'm glad it got good ratings. Last week after the PPV was solid, and this week was better. I really enjoyed where they went with the Authority, and Randy Orton, there were some solid matches, we got to see some different people like Tyson and Zack on, and most importantly........ NO CENA!!!!

I was mostly glad last night that they actually had a one-on-one main event match that didn't end in a disqualification or a count-out since I can't even remember the last time it happened.
Now I'm sure when Cena comes back to TV, that it'll go back to the same ratings as usual.

I think it's mostly because nobody expected a close game from NY/IND. I'm sure next week goes back under 4.

People want something different.
It's common sense.
It has been 10 years of the same sh*t. Hogan, Austin, Rock, DX, nWo, etc. didn't even have a decade long run without a character change, face/heel turn, etc.
Wrestling fans like unpredictability and fresh, new, exciting things. They aren't getting that with Cena. The ratings reflect this fact.

He's had the same shtick for what? 11 years? 12 years? If he doesn't turn to the Authority at SS, then he never will.

Cena heel turn for the Authority assistance to finally beat The Beast, Brock Lesnar. That makes the most sence, the kind of dropped the hint on Raw a week or 2 back. Heyman can't turn Cena, but The Authority will.

I feel like viewership has nothing to do with the show honestly. If the show before was awesome, may have had a crappy rating but then the following week is a meh show, the rating might be better because of the show prior. Unless they promote or announce something beforehand, a shows rating is really based off the show the previous week, IMO.
But if a good rating means well for Rollins, then Im all for it !

But if a good rating means well for Rollins, then Im all for it ! It doesn't. The third hour was the lowest rated hour, which means the main event was weak. Which isn't a good sign for Rollins or Orton, but Orton has never been much of a ratings draw in the last five or six years. The guy who is a ratings draw, though: USA might put more pressure on Vince to appear more. The network loves the McMahons being on because they're always good for ratings, but Vinnie Mac doesn't like being a TV character so much these days.

That is pretty interesting.
I wouldn't expect Cena being absent to lead to the show retaining that rating though so of course he will be back.
