I am wanting to make a red crow decal for my wolfpac Sting custom but I dont really know how to make/use decals. can someone tell me how to make them and make sure they stay on?
I have no to very little painting skill and want the Sting to be good. Can anyone help me with using decals?

Well, the best thing to do is find a picture of what you're looking for; even better if you can find it in scale. If not, see if someone can make you one.
Print it out.
(From here on, I'll tell you how I go about it) Get glue. I use the glue that is made for puzzles; there's a brush connected to the top, so it's easier to apply. Spread glue on the back of the decal, and stick it on desired figure, in the location it's supposed to go. After the glue has dried, I usually paint the decal with matching colors...this makes the decal look MILES better than just a regular decal. After it's been painted, I add a coat of glue over the decal to ensure that it will stay on the figure. Then I seal/finish it.

Well in the old days the method was: Print it out, cut it out and use white glue mixed with water to stick it on the figure and then paint over it with the glue/water mixture. I've only done that once (on my really early Raven custom - www.angelfire.com/al2/Ianarchy/Raven.html) but it looks really really smooth. In fact I've often substituted sealant for the water/glue mix. I knew I just posted this somewhere... Yeah man, pretty much do what AF said, and I recomend using white school glue mixed with water to stick it on. The water/glue sometimes blurs the colors a little bit, so it looks smooth and nice. |
