I agree, but, every generation needs a safe guy. It'll be Reigns. You're right. I can see why you said that. We've never seen anyone like John Cena, and I don't think we ever will again. In today's WWE, Cena is far more different than Hogan, Bruno, Austin, and Rock when they were face of the company during their respective runs. However, I don't think Reigns will be the 'face' of the company for 10+ years like Cena has been. I surely hope not. Ugh. I hope you're right. I like the guy, but I don't want 10+ years of him.

Doesn't matter which guy SHOULD be the next top guy. Roman Reigns is going to be pushed like he's the next Cena. Too bad he has a Batista ceiling, at best.

I hate to get too over excited, but looking at NXT right now and taking into account the Shield, Wyatt, and Ziggler, maybe they won't need such a blatant "This is our guy and we command you to love him" guy for the next generation. Maybe we'll get a genuinely deep, exciting main event roster in the future.
On the other hand, Roman Reigns.

I don't really think Roman is going to be the number 1 guy. He's nearly 30, which puts him about 8 years younger than John. John could easily stay on top for up to another decade barring serious injury and considering his work style. By that time Roman will be pushing 40.

That's sort of the elephant in the room that nobody addresses imo. John Cena isn't going anywhere. He's going to be there and WWE is running this thing into the ground with him. So the fans might be looking for the "next guy" but WWE really has their guy. If they can supplement creating another Cena level guy by having a group of top tier stars then they can just ride it out until they have to put the machine behind someone else when Cena really is done.

It's gonna be Reigns but I'd go with Bryan or Ambrose if it was my decision tbh.

Nobody (that we know of) will ever be in Cena's league, so they will have to figure out basically the best of a bad bunch. Like they did between Hogan and Austin. I'd say Reigns, depending on how old he is when Cena steps down.

Couldn't agree more. I see Reigns as someone who will be the Warrior/Shawn/Rock to Cena's Hogan/Bret/Austin. I honestly think for now the best bet for WWE is to build up 4 or 5 guys as major stars to the #1 Cena (Reigns and Rollins are both well on their way there). Which is what they seem to be doing.

I'd say Reigns, depending on how old he is when Cena steps down. Man, I don't think that's fair. I think Shawn Michaels is the greatest total package performer in the history of WWE. I know he was a step down from that Austin/Hogan/Cena level in terms of money, but I think a guy like Seth Rollins could have the career of an HBK, even if he never reaches the tippy top of the mountain in draw power. I tend to think there are a handful of really great apples, in a batch of mediocre to bad apples, but no perfect apples, at least not yet. I think the Shield and Wyatt, as Vince mentioned, all have the potential to be on the HBK/HHH level, Batista level in Reigns' case, or Foley level in Wyatt's case. Those future HOFers are all there but none of them are on Cena's level to this point, and maybe they never will be. I just don't like the term best of the bad, when I think there is some great talent on the roster right now. Bryan falls into that category as well, even though he's a clearcut #2 to Cena as well. It's not fair to the really talented guys to be called bad just because they don't fall into a category that has realistically only been filled by 3 guys in 30 years.

It's not fair to the really talented guys to be called bad just because they don't fall into a category that has realistically only been filled by 3 guys in 30 years. Going from one of the three to lesser talents is bad, though. If you're relying on Cena/Hogan/Austin-level draws and you get Diesel, Bret Hart and 90s HBK level draws, it's very bad. Without Cena, the network losses go from anal bleeding to a full-on prolapse.
