Hello all:
I'm sure it has been asked previously, but is there anything that can be used to remove existing paint and/or tattoos from Jakks figures? I've heard that nail polish remover works, however it only seems to smear whatever I'm looking to remove, and dulls the remaining "sheen" of the figure.
Any help would be most appreciated! Thank you.

Nail polish would work, but requires elbow grease. If you want something stronger, go to your local hardware store and pick up acetone. It'll discolor the torsos, but not the arms.

if nail polish remover is not working i would get paint thinner. it should come off and just get a cloth and wipe the paint off of the figure.

Yeah man, that's it. get some nail polish remover or acetone based product like paint thinner and rub that stuff off. Alternately if it's not going anywhere you could try and sand it off with a fine grade sand paper.

There is acryllic paint remover at an arts & crafts store like Michael's. That is the best way to remove the paint without smearing or harming the plastic.

Watch using Acetone remover on torsos , it totally degrades the plastic , I tried using it to remove some paint off pants and they started to crack a week later.
Remember if you dull the torso you could always seal it in clear coat acrylic to shine him up.

Remember if you dull the torso you could always seal it in clear coat acrylic to shine him up. Acetone remover?  ? Ok, here's the thing. If you decide to use acetone, use it in small amounts...like, with a Q-Tip/cottonswab. Don't use too much at once. I've used it and it hasn't cracked/eaten away/disinegrated any plastic yet. Though, with all types of cleaners/etc, use precautions. |
