...is the craft too much for the human body and brain? However, recently listening to CM Punk's interview with Colt Cabana from late November has opened my eyes to so much. The travel, the wear and tear, and the injuries seem to destroy your average worker. I'm not even sure that the fame and wealth would be worth the destruction. But, I must inquire - is professional wrestling too much for the human body and brain? The short answer is that it is indeed an inherently risky lifestyle. From all of the quotes I've read from countless wrestlers, it seems like they simply don't feel healthy until they leave the biz. Is the money and fame worth it? That all depends on the individual. It certainly wouldn't be for me, but I'm sure others would differ.

I think about this all the time. Is it worth it in the long run? Most likely not. But that's not going to stop people and entire corporations from making money.

Www was so tough on poor Punk, he has legitimate concerns about his health long term, so it's only logical he step into the work of mixed martial arts. Ummm yeah, I'd say one fight in two years with actual training and real doctors examining you is probably a hell of a lot safer than wrestling 300+ days a year with Dr. Z-Pack treating your injuries and letting you travel and wrestle on a daily basis while you're suffering from concussions.

great topic and actually something I have been thinking about as well and was considering making a thread about!
as much as I enjoy wrestling and have defended it I think it is undoubtedly disastrous for the human body.
I'd like to see wrestling return to only seeing top stars once a month. no house shows. return of the 'big show' feel and a huge reduction of needless physical damage.

The craft is not too much. It's the hectic WWE schedule that puts such a heavy toll on the performers.

Every other professional athlete has an off season. Why can't the WWE simply work contracts out where guys have a minimum 4 weeks off per year?
Hell the four weeks don't have to all be at the same time. Cena could be given a week off here and there and it wouldn't affect much.
The longer a guy/gal is with the company the more time off they earn. You could even give the entire roster some down time over the Holidays. The WWE could easily tape two or three weeks in advance and send the entire roster home over Christmas and New Years. That alone would give the roster plenty of time to recover in preparation for Mania season.
Simply put until the Wrestlers stand up as one and make these simple demands nothing is going to change, and sadly that is the simple truth.

Yeah, but in the world of MMA, he's not going to be competing all year round - virtually night in night out, and on the road 300 days a year, is he, smart-arse?

Instead of working in a controlled setting where the objective is to put on a fake fight while being protected by your opponent is something that he could not handle, it's funny that he is going to be subjected to a full on assault by men whom are highly trained in actual fighting.

Yea, and when he gets banged up, he'll have months to recover instead of having to go out the next night and work a house show. You do realize that your lack of knowledge on the subject and excitement to jump to "STUPID CM PUNK OMG HE IS A CRYBABY AND WILL GET KILLED IN UFC" tends to make you sound rather ridiculous.

This thread kinda reminds me of the gif when Punk hits that fan that was supposedly talking about pushing him or hurting him or whatever when in the gif you can clearly see all the fans had their eyes on Vince in the ring, including the guy he punched.

But there was a guy behind him that did hit him/push him.

I dunno, but Iggy Azalea's moles and giant ass and terrible rapping are too much for the human body and brain, that is for sure.
