Ideally would set up Cena vs Bryan at WrestleMania Rock v Austin style with Cena joining forces with The Authority aka Austin and Vince.
Realistically, way too soon and made Stings debut kinda pointless.

Can't wait to see raw open every week again with 30 minute hhh/steph self-serving promos, or Cena and his super friends against the odds every week. The authority has been dominating since summerlam 2013. We got barely over a month without them. There was no need to bring them back at this time. It could be good with D-Bryan back , I have feeling the Authority angle will conclude at WM 31 or Summer Slam.

IMO, WWE TV hasn't been the same during Triple H and Stephanie McMahon's absences. During their absence, we even had to witness the return of the Anonymous RAW GM. Your thoughts? All authority figure angles are just rehashes of the Austin-McMahon feud from 1998. It was old by 2000, and it becomes more nauseating with each retread of the same, lazy, boring feud.

Everyone wanted them back and now that they are everyone's complaining. no, the people who wanted them gone are still complaining. Those people were quiet when they left because there was nothing to talk about then (beating a dead horse). The people who wanted them back have now taken that position. You see, on the internet, there's more than one person. Specifically the "IWC", is actually a very large group of people with completely different opinions, likes and dislikes. I know this is a hard subject to grasp so take a few deep breaths and I'll come back to you in a week to make sure you're doing okay This post is so much ing win and needs to be put at the top of this god forsaken board.

They're back already? So, the entire point of the Survivor Series main event was made pointless a month after the event happened. Awesome. I'm guessing that this will be a way to bring Sting back out of hiding to (I guess??) face HHH at WM. Gotta be some point to it. I knew they would waste Zigs Survivor Series performance but I can't see them making Stings appearance meaningless

I thought that they'd be back eventually, if only to set up HHH/Sting for 'Mania. But I agree, it's too soon. I'm a huge HHH fan, always have been and always will be, but this was not the time to bring them back. I'm hoping it's a little bit different this time, instead of Dolph, Bryan and Co getting beaten down every week.

WWE has become so dependent on the top babyface/legend babyface vs. evil authority figure(s) storyline that it's not even fun as joke fodder any longer. It's utterly ridiculous that the company can't get away from booking angles from 15+ years ago.

I'm glad they're back. Also, don't really see how this is gonna effect Ziggler's push like everyone is worried about. Granted, I also don't care so much either

On one hand I get it that the Authority pretty much had to be in power on the road to Mania to make sense for another Sting appearance. On the other hand it pretty much craps all over Dolph Ziggler, congrats bro, you fought your ass off to rid the Authority......for one month. Makes me wonder if that was the plan all along to bring them back so soon, which makes so much more sense why Ziggler ended up getting the spotlight at the end of Survivor Series and it wasn't Super Cena conquering the odds once again. You got this 100% right. They've booked themselves into a corner with HHH/Sting and Bryan/Reigns while making it clear that they don't intend on doing anything substantial with Dolph "This isn't TNA so why do I have a pornstar name?" Ziggler. Rest assured, we will see the return of Super Cena. Probably around the time he gets his 16th world title.

I really think the retconning was done in an obvious, lazy way-- as since day one we knew Cena would be threatened into it once the stipulation was introduced. Would have been much more interesting if he had a heel/tweener turn to align with the Authority and bring them back, or hell, Steph and Trips could have stormed WWE headquarters and held the shareholders and Vince hostage with Brock, Big Show and Rollins in their corner demanding a ransom of company control back. I like the Authority. I think you need an antagonist to keep the story moving. The random face/celeb GM's each week got old pretty fast. And Stephanie McMahon looks stacked in those sleeveless dresses....so, welcome back Authority! Why do we need an authority figure? They've been doing the same tired heel figurehead bit since they first stole the idea of a commissioner from the original ECW in the late 90's, if memory serves correct.

I say they are bringing them back to early. I think they should have brought someone in, and he is 10 time worse then the Authority, lets call him The dictator, and he make Cena and they other superstars lives a living nightmare, and they all turn to Cena and say "you know what to do", then he makes the call and bring back the authority. and its starts the war between the dictator and the authority for control of the WWE.

If it wouldn't have been for Sting that would've been great but his feud with HHH needs a lot of build up. If the Authority returned say Febuary that would not have give their feud a chance and everything would've got rushed. Sting vs HHH is something no one thought would ever happen so the build up needs to be done properly with the final showdown at Mania so the sooner it starts the better. As for the dictator I think the laptop would've been perfect for that role because everyone including the fans hated it back in 2010. Imagine this the dictator makes everyone's lives a living hell and in kayfabe it is announced that Raws ratings are dropping so Cena has no other choice than to bring back the authority. Then HHH reveals that he was behind the laptop all along and it was a scheme to put him and Steph back in power and screw Cena.

That's the kind of booking I was hoping/expecting to see. Cena has no choice but to put the Authority back in power because they're the lesser of two evils. Unfortunately, the WWE took the quickest way out they could find to bring them back. If the scenario that unfolded on Monday Night Raw was planned out more than a few days before the show, I'd be shocked.

Source: Lords of Pain- For those wondering, Sting is not expected to be a surprise entrant in the 2015 WWE Royal Rumble match. At last word, Sting was still scheduled to face Triple H at WrestleMania 31. We should know soon if those plans have changed or not. On a related note, WWE had been planning on bringing back The Authority for some time and the decision to bring them back so soon on this week's RAW was not a reaction to the ratings.

Yeah, think about that. Ziggler busted his ass to make sure the Authority's out of power, and Cena just pisses it away on his word a month later.
Intelligent booking, assuming you wanna get Cena over as a heel...

Well from a logical kayfabe it's more than likely steph and trips devised the plan to force John to bring them back to power by threatening to paralyze edge. Personally I think it was too early to bring them back and I love the authority should've been held off till the rumble They need the star power, as sad as that is. It made sense that steph and hhh would be there for the holiday special. I kinda just figured they were doing a party backstage the whole time. On another note, I think Edge is down with the authority
