Listened to that new Missy Elliott. Nothing groundbreaking but it's great to hear her again.

Glad this thread is back. I was wondering if anyone else feels these beats of today (post 2k5) are missing something? What is it exactly? Maybe I am just too old, but I just cannot get into 99% of current rap, as I can't stand the beats, or heavy focus on bass. I can't put my finger on it, but the closest I can state is that they are missing heart and not telling a story anymore. G-funk spoke to you by the instrumentals. Horrorcore, the same. Southern/midwest rap had their own flavor. Rappers made the lyrics fit the beat. I know little of the Miami bass sound of the 90s....is this an extrapolation with the added east coast vocal style (flow + vocal tone)? I am not trying to belittle anything, I am glad people like it, but I am just trying to understand why I don't anymore. Much respect. VPV There’s not as much as thought and effort put into rap as there used to be. Same stupid subjects (b*tches and hoes, the club, drugs, money, sex), talentless mumble rappers, and overall laziness are all major parts of rap’s rise to prominence, but also it's downfall in quality. Gone are the days of guys like Tupac, Biggie, and Eminem being in prominence, and in are the days of trash like XXXTentacion and Lil Pump. There are some up and coming rappers that are talented (NF comes to mind), but all the talent out there is outweighed by the trash. Until this whole trap movement stops, hip-hop will be in the dumps for a long time. The Golden Days are over. Honestly I legitimately have no clue either who 99% of the rappers with mixtapes on mixunit or datpiff. I only buy artists I know, and find myself listening to mostly the same old stuff. Biggie, Nas, Jay-Z, Clipse (and Pusha & No Malice solos), Lox and their solo's, Heltah Skeltah & Sean Price, Cam'ron & Dipset, Jim Jones solos, Ghostface, Raekwon, Mobb Deep, 50 etc etc. I'm an East coast head looking for lyrics and dope beats. Originality is gone, I've never seen so many artists biting names of rappers. There's no respect. Hip-Hop today ain't Hip-Hop. It's disgusting. As far as rappers of the day, I did pick up Nems "Gorilla Monsoon", got all of Freddie Gibbs cds, Your Old Droog, 38 Spesh, Benny The Butcher and the Griselda camp (Wesside Gunn & Conway the Machine), etc. IF anyone could refer me to other current day NYC/East Coast rappers that aren't with the mumble rap and bullcrap beats, hit reply or hit me on the PM.

DaBaby/Migos track is fire. Polo G/Lil Tjay collab is nice too. And City Girls got a couple features I like. Kind of impressed, but it won't get me to stop playing the Clipse, Nas, & Raekwon on the regular!

This new Lil Kim is garbage. She sounds like a Nicki Minaj knock off, stole her whole style. Not a good look at all. Especially considering the bad blood between them.
I was always a Foxy Brown guy anyways.
