I dont remember what it's called but i used this stuff that is used to hang pictures on walls, its extremely cheap and you get alot of it.

I twist craft wire together and it is cheap you can get it at wal mart

The best thing to use is crafting wire found in the craft department at Wal-Mart. They come it a pretty good size roll at about $2 each. And it's very thin and easy to bend and whatnot. You take an cut them into 2-3 inch ppieces and then twist them together to reform one whole piece which gives you the barbs.
