The cost of production in China has increased steadily over the last 3-5 years. You're seeing it heavily with textiles across the board due to increased prices for cotton as well. Companies are trying to combat higher production costs by increasing the price of their products. I worked for an apparel company not that long ago and we essentially decided it was worth it to us to eat a dollar(s) on the profit in order to not raise the msrp, so forecasting volume/sales over a quarter(s)/year. I think what is happening with Mattel is that the prices are becoming more expensive for them and they are just passing the buck, or at least I would guess. The stores are likely passing the buck as well, making it more expensive to the end consumer. Either that, or somewhere along the line someone is getting greedy, which happens as well. I think the cost of toys has seen a really significant increase over the last 5 years or so, like unnatural growth even with normal inflation. It's not just Mattel WWE, action figures and toys in general have gotten expensive. Legos are crazy, Star Wars, Marvel, I would say the standard price for a quality 6" figure now is $20. That sucks, especially for people like myself and us collectors that buy stuff from multiple lines and try and keep up. Game of Thrones Legacy, WWE Elites, Walking Dead, Star Wars Black, TMNT Classics, anything NECA or Mezco, I mean I love having all of this stuff available and I want so much of it, but even just going from $10-15 a figure to $15-20 is making a huge difference on how much I can collect. Toys are an elastic good though, so there will come a time when the bubble bursts and everyone will need to take a step back imo. This makes a lot of sense. It doesn't just make a lot of sense. It's the facts in a nutshell. Don't forget, the figure gets made in China. That's a cost. Then someone has to fly it over here (Gas prices will affect putting a plane in the air if they don't put it on a ship in the ocean). That's a little more cost. Then someone has to place it in a warehouse until it makes it to the shelf at the store, and that adds cost too. That's why something that costs a few dollars to make ends up costing us quite a bit more to buy. Everyone has to get paid. Greed can be a factor too, but the fact is you need money to make the process happen. Also, the fun complaining about what these toys cost in different parts of the world compared to the US are mildly silly. Our dollar is worth more or less then it is in different countries, so it costs more or less accordingly. With the exchange rate what it is, my complaining about a basic costing $10 in the states is virtually the same as someone in Canada complaining about them costing $15. If I take $10 with me to Canada and get it converted to Canadian money, I can buy the $15 basic. Of course, the US dollar hasn't been worth the paper it's printed on for a number of years, but that's a story for another time.

Canadian TRU prices the last few years.... Basics: $15.99 Elites: $24.99 Battle Packs: $29.99 It doesn't matter sadly. We Canadians can tell the Americans on here multiple times how our prices are so much higher than them, but it won't matter. Because to them, a basic going from $9.97 to $10.97 is an outrage!! Even though our Walmarts don't care Elites, and Toys R Us is the only store in Canada to get Elites, it won't matter to them. For their elites going up $1 is an outrage! *sigh* I wish we had the luxury of prices and availability that the USA has for their figures.

You are more than welcome to have the great availability of figures that I have. Would you like five CM Punk figures and an El Matador two-pack because that's all I have with my luxurious availability as an American. We aren't all swimming in the latest line-up of Elite figures and swimming in great basic figures friend. I'm sorry that you're paying $15.99 for basics but that doesn't discredit the fact that people will be frustrated at price increases stateside.

All we have are battle packs of Rey Mysterio/Sin Cara and Ryback/Jinder Mahal, and many, many, Wrestlemania Heritage Batista figures.

I can still remember paying $2.97 for Hasbro's (even the holy grail green card series) at Hills, but then going to KB and paying $7.99 for the same figures. That was an outrage back then. I went to Target tonight and saw Elites are $19.99 and HOF $20.99. Ugh

I've seen the price increase too, 2014 was a good year for me, 2015 I planned on slowing down a little, so thanks for that Mattel I guess haha, but I've only bought 3 figs so far this year and even that has been down a few weeks now. Just hof Austin, warrior, and b45 mankind for me. Here's to being picky in the new year lol
