self-explanatory for me, E6 Batista November '13 for $65, only to have E30 & 33 released ALMOST bought an E(6?) goldust for $50ish but held out then surprisingly Mattel released another & saved me thankfully not much else for me atleast, I've gotten lucky during rsc's loose figure sales for some rare guys. what about u guys? u ever paid high prices only to see them drop months/yrs later?

I thought you was talking about at retail because that happens to me all the time at retail. Especially at Smyths here in the UK they often drop their prices when the sets have been out a while but I have usually bought what I want way before then.

I thought you meant on the exact item. For example: you buy an e6 Batista for $80, but then it goes down in price because e30 & e33 are released.
So...no for me because I did buy an e6 Batista moc about a year ago for $60 but I don't count the newer elites of him as the same figure.

Well they sat on the shelves for months and eventually went down to £9.99.

Or actually I did experience this situation with DM Flair. During the initial release I paid 24.99, only to see him on clearance recently for 12.49... ouch. So I guess you can disregard my first post. Haha

With this hobby, you pay what the figure is worth to you at the time you buy it, and you don't look back. In Mask of Truth's example, he paid $25 for Flair and then later on, saw him on clearance for $13. It could have just as easily gone the other way where he paid $25 for Flair and then later on, you couldn't get him for less than $50. Maybe I'll see Brie Bella at my local Walmart in two months for $9.97. Maybe I won't. All I know is that I'm getting my Brie next Tuesday, and I'm happy. I could care less if I see her for half the price of my preorder later on. That's how you have to roll. In the spirit of the question though, back in 1999, I paid $50 on eBay for a Famous Covers Black Widow. I then found her at TRU a couple of days later for $10. My $50 eBay Black Widow hadn't even arrived yet. That was an interesting experience.

No because none of my figures come from the secondary market.

My house...... we bought in 2007, right before the housing market declined. From the best I can tell, if I sold my house today at market value, I'd still owe $30,000 on the mortgage.

Practically all my Basic figures could've been bought later at prices way below retail.

before I joined the pro boards I bought a legends vader MOC for $55. Then I found out there was the E31 figure in the works. After E31 was released, I could pick up the same figure for $25. I learned.....pay attention to WFigs

I'll tell you what no one has thought about. The basics. Most basics cost less than retail after a year or so. Half the Ortons and Cenas don't even sell. I've seen Cenas as low as $5 with free shipping from some eBay sellers and they still can't sell them. Your average basic seems to sell for $7 with free shipping on eBay meaning a seller only makes about three dollars said and done. Maybe less.

There were quite a few Elite's that I paid full price (18 to 20 bucks) for last year that I later could of got (or did get some duplicates of) at 10 or 12 bucks and I also paid 25 for Flair and then grabbed a couple more for much cheaper than that like half price. But I never have grossly overpaid for a figure nor would I spend that much to have something like that happen.

My house...... we bought in 2007, right before the housing market declined. From the best I can tell, if I sold my house today at market value, I'd still owe $30,000 on the mortgage. Man, I feel you there. I had just closed on a new house in March 2007 and put the old one up for sale when the bottom fell out. When I started the process in January 2007, houses in our neighborhood were selling in less than 30 days. By April 2007, you couldn't give a house away, so I ended up with both of them. I did everything I could to make it work for nearly four years before I finally had to short sale the new one and move back into the old one. Adding insult to injury, I never wanted the damn house in the first place. I only bought it to shut wifey up after listening to her whine for two years about how all of our friends were moving out of our neighborhood and into the new one. It was either that or a divorce. In the long run, it was the right call. She learned a boatload of life lessons from that experience, my family is still intact, and everyone's happy now, but 2007 through 2011 was a bitch.

Miss Elizabeth I looked and looked for her at retail so I finally gave up and dropped $40 for her on Ringside just to find her at Target a week later for $15

I sold my E16 Nash from Ringside for $125. I bought the same figure loose-mint earlier this year for $35. I feel I came out ahead on the deal. I went through a period where I really regretted not having the Nash though. I thought I was going to find it easily at retail and just make a quick turnaround on it but I never actually saw it at retail. So joke was sort of on me.
