Use wood as the base, with wooden (or steel) dowel rods for the ring posts. Attach little J screws into the posts. This allows you to change the ring ropes as you please, and creates a base turnbuckle "steel ring". Then either Jakks ring ropes or elastic rope for the ropes. After you attach the ropes, make turnbuckle pads out of either foamies, cloth, electric tape, or whatever. Use cloth for the ring skirt, and pad the mat down with Foamies (if you don't, banging figures on the solid wood will be very loud and mess up your figures)
