It's a shame he's going to retire. He's been better than ever since he came back. I wish he'd not officially retire so he could comeback and wrestle occasionally like he Outlaws....but if he wants to retire, i's his right to do it. He's been doing this for over 20 years. I'm sure he's looking forward to having a job that doesn't require him to beat up his body.
I'm glad he got this last run.

I'm baffled that people want Cody to go back to being boring and bland.

It's always a sad day when a beloved wrestler retires. I remember watching Dustin in WCW in the late 80's/early 90's. I am happy for him though! Stardust gimmick should go away and Cody should bring back the 'stache!

I would much prefer Goldust returning randomly after he retired over some of the people we've seen do so in recent years. I'm looking at you RVD and New Age Outlaws.

If Stardust is going to stick around, I'd love to see them do a weird/creepy Highlander-like gimmick where "there can only be one".
Done right, this could be a really fun feud.

It's sad that they haven't really given him any decent storylines in such a long while..... he's in such great shape & having awesome matches, too bad they didn't have him in some really interesting feuds!
I could have seen him having some great rivalries/matches with guys like Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro, maybe even Titus O'Neil.... instead, he's just been treading water (like most of the rest of the roster).
Remember when they used to have good undercard feuds?

With the exception of Daniel Bryan, there were no faces hotter on the roster at the tail end of 2013 than Cody Rhodes and Goldust. Then they dropped the belts and got shafted by being thrown to the side. The fact that they could be outstanding at the end of 2013 and be relegated to a battle royal at WrestleMania is a shame.

Goldust isn't retiring... he even said so on Facebook today. That the whole retiring thing is just an internet rumour.
"Dustin P Runnels 1 hr ·
I'll retire when I'm dead"
that's his status! So I am gonna say, he probably isn't retiring any time soon. Maybe his WWE contract is coming up and he's leaving the company?? But I doubt he's retiring.

Maybe now we can get main event Cody Rhodes. Who am I kidding? We're not getting main event Cody Rhodes. Sadly true. Just think, if Cody had had a huge falling out with his dad like Dustin did before he jumped to WWF, he might be Vince's golden boy because of how little he cares for Dusty. Sadly, the pride Cody takes in being a Rhodes will ultimately have been his undoing. Vince is very petty. In saying that, though, even as a Cody fan I have to ask the question: Has he ever really been over? He was doing okay as Dashing/Grotesque Cody Rhodes, but did he ever really get the crowd hot during a match or a promo? He got pops during his entrances but does that really mean anything?

He was doing okay as Dashing/Grotesque Cody Rhodes, but did he ever really get the crowd hot during a match or a promo? He got pops during his entrances but does that really mean anything? he was over as a heel as Grotesque. He was on the precipice of the main event during his Smackdown feud with Orton. He was red hot and on the precipice of being super over as a face after MITB, and he was over in The Brotherhood. Terrible booking killed all of that. Why? Because the fans were ready to accept him, but by not taking the golden opportunities to pull the trigger the hierarchy have repeatedly told the fans that he doesn't matter. There were two huge opportunities (one as a heel, one as a face) that they completely ignored that would have made him at least an upper midcarder if not a bonified main eventer. The fans were ready to let him rise to the next level. Cody isn't one of those guys who they tried to get over but it just didn't work out. It was another case of someone getting over on their own, but the hierarchy not going with it so the fans say eff it. I really hope he eventually starts getting the Ziggler reactions where it's just impossible to ignore. He has that talent, he has that charisma. Unfortunately that seems to be his only chance at this point.

He can retire from full time competition and still show up randomly like the New Age Outlaws. He's been putting on very athletic matches, but his character doesn't need to be doing moonsaults. He can be a Superstar until the day he dies with the Goldust character.

Godly should've had a run with the IC title and feud with Harper to put him over as a singles star.

Goldust Vs Cody Rhodes at WM 31 would be great. Have Goldust attack Stardust after he gets pinned in a tag match and tell Stardust that he could never be like him, have Cody get a big win at Mania and shortly after get a main event push. That's how I'd do it anyway.

Why do people want generic Cody Rhodes back? LOL he will end up floating around on the roster before being put in YET another tag team. However as Stardust he has a chance of making it as a singles competitor without being misused like he's been since 2011.
The disfigured gimmick was the only time I ever found Cody interesting and he was super hot and massively over with it and it was truly the golden era of Cody's career.
Cody is a guy that needs a gimmick and they can't bring his disfigured one back so Stardust is his best chance.

Im glad to see someone else remembers Cody being the number two face in the company. He was getting amazing reactions (as was goldust) that were better then everyone else's with the exception of DB. He should have gotten the match with Orton that Big Show received, although I LOVED them beating The Shield and the title reign that followed but their reign got cut short IMO.

Cody Rhodes in 2013 was fantastic. I mean, he always has been, but god he was on fire during that time. I haven't found Cody to be generic since his pre-Legacy days and he has always been wildly entertaining. Dashing Cody Rhodes? Killed it and made it work. Undashing Cody Rhodes? Some of his best work ever. Won a singles WrestleMania match and had main event poential Intercontinental Title run? One of the better reigns in recent memory Grow a mustache? Gets it over, selling merch and having the crowd chant for it. Be the second most over face in the company? Did so in 2013 and had the best matches on the card until he and Goldust lost the belts. Brotherhood dropping the titles to the Usos would have been one of the better matches at WrestleMania if it was done that way. Give him a weird painted up gimmick? He still makes it work.
