What would happen if during the Royal Rumble the top rope would break? Would they stop the match and fix it or just continue the match? Would it still be a legal elimination if the still continue the match?

An Irish Whip would be extremely effective.

I would assume so. But I've only seen the top rope break once, and that was almost 30 years ago.

Daniel Bryan doesn't win. That's for sure.

Rey Mysterio wouldn't be hitting a 619. That's for sure.

Well the rule is "over the top rope" not "over the third rope up". So in theory, I guess if the normal top rope goes down, the second rope would then be the top rope by default since it would then be the rope on top.
To answer your question though, they might be able to find a way to fix it while the match continues. It wouldn't be pretty but those crew guys are fast.

Eliminations would be happening even faster than what we saw on Sunday

I remember the top rope breaking during a Hulk Hogan vs Cowboy Bob Orton match. Think it was on Superstars, around May of 87.

i think they'd probably stop the match - ropes breaking can be a serious danger, so they'd probably want to check for any other insecurities with the ropes. i imagine they'd put the royal rumble hype video back on momentarily.

Daniel Bryan doesn't win. That's for sure. Actually, Bryan being a shorter wrestler would have a clear advantage over his opponents in that situation. Mix in the fact that Roman Reigns sucks and I would think Bryan would be the heavy favorite if the top rope broke.

2002 no mercy, jericho goes for a middle rope spring board, it snaps, they carried through the match and instead of the lion sault later he does a moon sault off thr the top. One promo video later and it was fixed for the next match. If that helps?
