So JAKKS gave up on TNA, right? Good. About time, they stopped trying a while ago. Hopefully TNA & JAKKS split ways after this "line" and TNA can then find a company that cares and will give a real effort. Who would actually want to make TNA figures? IDK, but I hope there is a company out there that is up for the challenge. I've wanted some kind of elite style TNA figs for years.
Dream line up: Kurt Angle, Bobby Rude, EC3, Awesome Kong, Austin Aries and Jeff Hardy or Willow.
Dream two-pack: The Wolves, Flashback Beer-Money & Abyss VS Samoa Joe.
I might buy "DI 13" Angelina Love if I see her on a TRU/Kmart shelf, or if RVC has an open version/clearance sale.
Zero interest in Ken Anderson.

Jakks is up there with Jazwares when it comes to making bad figures. 2 figures is just pathetic and there's no excuse for it.

Let's not forget the pride displayed by Jakks during their final year of WWE (2009). The last CS set had a bunch of guys in street gear and others with minimal paintjobs, and they flat out just stopped painting the details on half the main roster figures; blank singlets, tights, shirts, and even a nearly naked Mark Henry. They've made some good stuff over the years, but they've never been consistent, not even in the BCA days.

Only two figures? I might not be so disappointed if they weren't re-paints. 2 NEW figures at a time would certainly be more palatable. This really feels like a last gasp for Jakks in the wrestling figure market.
MESSAGE TO TNA: If you can find a toy line that will produce figures more in scale with Mattels, I'm sure they would sell far better than the Jakks disappointments being put out today (read: 1 "set" every 6-9 months).

Actually there's four figures in the set. Two Angelina's one with skirt and one without and two andersons... One with elbow pads and one without. Removing those accessories immediately doubles the play value! Well played jakks, well played.

So, uh, where's Velvet and Magnus? I think they both look good, but the DA and TNA haters are gonna hate. It's all they know. Hate? When it comes to Jakks DA the truth hurts. We're all aware of the scale problem. The Jakks DA Rey Mysterio is the same height as the DA Randy Orton. Even the scale of the figures themselves are out of wack. Some heads are too big legs are too long. Muscles are too big on most figures. It got even worse when Jakks switch to TNA figures. Very limited accessories. Very limited selection of characters and too many remakes. Jakks were better off when they were RA IMO. The only figures worthy of purchase are some of the Knockouts. At least they're close to Mattel scale and have nice articulation. I could go on and on. The only figure I might consider getting if TNA made one is D'lo Brown since he hasn't been made since the time Jakks first started making rubber WWF figures in 90s. And hopefully the head would be small enough to pop off to make a Mattel custom. |
