I ask because I have debated returning to that Hobby but have no idea where to jump in. I haven't collected since the days of Dragon, 21st Century Toys, and Blue Box International. I used to do a mixture of eras and police as well as military.
Prices are way up but so is quality, so I understand that I won't have a terribly large collection but it looks like it would be incredible.
I have been looking at pics, and while this stuff looks incredible, I would like to know if anyone can attest to the physical quality. Fragility isn't necessarily a detractor, but good to know about.
How do brands like 'Dragon in Dreaming', 'Soldier Story', and 'Damtoys' hold up? Are there other companies making great military collectibles? Also, are there good news sites for that, like how Wrestling Figs is for wrestling toys?

www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/forum.phpThis is the #1 1/6 forum in my opinion. There is also the onesixwarriors forum. As far as 1/6 military figures. Check out these: DID. These are the top of the line military figures. Ranging in price from $120 -$180 each. They focus on historical figures. From Roman times to WW2. They have amazing detail and extras. Dragon. They are still running strong. Once a Toys R Us exclusive company, now on their own. Figures range from $30-$80 vehicles range from $200-$400 KPToys. They go after historical figures such as George Washington and Ceasar. Figures range from $150-$360 There are tons of other 1:6 companies. Hot Toys, Sideshow, Kaistic Plastiks, COO, Craftone, StarAce, DamToys, Three Zero, Three A, Pop Toys, Execute Replica World Box, Asmis Toys, Flirty Girl, and so on.... A store I highly recommend is Cotswolds Collectibles at www.elitebrigade.comThey have hundreds of 1/6 options. From parts to make your own custom figure to licensed figures from Hot Toys and more. These are my go to guys. They also do monthly catalogs for freeee!

In the late '90s - early '00s 1/6 military was getting the bulk of my money. Then I got hooked on SOTA Street Fighter, MLs, DC, and wrestling and sort of backed away from the 1/6 world, except for an occasional figure. The pictures I see of Damtoys modern military figures make me drool. I have two figures from their Gangsters Kingdom line. Caricature head sculpts of actors are used in the GK line, but the materials and tailoring feel very high end. I would imagine the military figures would feature the same high quality. I only have one pic of a Damtoys fig on my computer, their version of Danny Trejo, which I picked up right before X-Mas. My only neg would be the rooted hair (not that it's bad, I just prefer sculpted).

Hey, thanks, I appreciate you guys' input. The only thing I'm scared about with this is the money. I would have to scale back on everything else. It was different in 2000-2004ish when I collected. Those dolls were 30-40 bucks, high end was 50. High end now is 300. Of course, toys like 21st Century look like children's toys compared to this stuff. I looked at some of those old dolls recently and the guns were accurately molded and that was about it.

I like the1/6 GI Joes that are based on the actual armed forces Joe was getting nice around 2004 or so right before they canned that line. Seems like they can't keep a 12" Joe line above water these days. They tried around 2009 and 2010 with a line of everyday heroes like Firefighters and Police officers that seemed nice for such a low pricepoint. They were like 25 bucks or so.

There was a Texas Ranger Manhunt GI Joe that was released somewhere in that timeframe. It's a pretty rare and sought after figure

They've made three figures so far, of which I have two. I'll link reviews here - For what it's worth, the bodies and accessories are great on these. Really high-end stuff. The weapons all have metal parts, the added clothing is all really well done, and they include plenty of extras that are specific to the person. Worth checking out. If you have any specific questions on these two, I can definitely help you out.

I'll put this here since it's sort of related. I just received this yesterday: DamToys Gangster Kingdom Spade 5. Caricature head sculpt off of Jude Law's likeness with parka and rain poncho. Next GK release is based on Keira Knightly. It's pretty high on my most anticipated list. I also got a Phicen seamless body with stainless steel skeleton, but that would need a nsfw warning.

I highly recommend checking out www.onesixthwarriors.com/forum/sixth-scale-action-figure-news-reviews-discussion/ . This place is alot like here. Collectors and hobbyist mostly with alot of good, knowledgeable people. During my break from wrestling figures I got heavy into 1/6 figures. The military ones require alot of detail and studying. There's also alot of non military 1/6 figures such as sci fi, sports, and fantasy. You can learn alot more from the site I left the link for. Also there's two really good stores I used. www.monkeydepot.com/ and www.blackopstoys.com/catalog/index.php . The advantage for Monkey Depot is lower prices but Black Ops Toys has alot bigger of a selection. Best wishes with returning to this hobby!

Thanks for all the suggestions and help guys! I've scouted out a handful of figures I want, now it's time to make some money. I'll post pics once I've decided and purchased.
