I don't know if this should go in the Mattel forum or here and I'm sure the reactions would be different over there but I was just wondering honestly do people think the new Mattel Hogans like Elite 34 or whatever is any better than the TNA ones? I mean yeah it's got a boa and changeable 2 rubber shirts I guess but it doesn't have lips lips and it's price is a lot more than the TNA ones originally were for the same or better articulation... It just seems like there's a lot of excitement about the new Hogan Mattels as if he's never had a modern action figure before or something. Is there something I'm missing?

I tried asking about the lack of lips on Mattel figures in the Mattel forum once and just got some sort of veiled insults I think telling me to ask Goldust...

I definitely think the TNA headsculpt is better by a lot, but his scale doesn't fit into most of our collections. I wish the TNA head was sized to fit on the Mattel body. People can say Mattel and Jakks use the same company to scan the wrestlers, but something seems off at times with Mattel.

The TNA scan is nice, but as pointed out, doesn't come close to fitting a Mattel version which is too bad.

People can say Mattel and Jakks use the same company to scan the wrestlers, but something seems off at times with Mattel. That excuse about the same company doing the scans has worn so thin from Mattel supporters. I am a HUGE Mattel fan, I have tons, but I'm not blind. Mattel would have marginally less detailed scans due to the size decrease, but their scans look massively different. The paint apps certainly contribute, but Mattel's emphasis, even when using the same cleanup artists, is pseudo-realism over realism, a little more stylism over detail. Doeant make one inherently better than the other, just down to your preference, really. The reason for the excitement is because we will have something in the same scale and style as all of our other Mattels. I will say, comparing the Wrestlemania 31 basic to the deluxe impact figures, that the Mattel one is very leggy. Mattel augments height by way of legs. Jakks may use a universal height for everyone, but the proportionate length of the arms to the torso and legs looks better. I like Jakks' scan a little better as well. Both are cool, though. I say, why can't I have both and enjoy them for different reasons. So many on here treat Mattel as if they are the only thing they're allowed to like.

I'm not a fan of the Mattel Hogan's so I'm going with TNA Jakks on this one.

From what I can gather the only thing Mattel Elites clearly beat Jakks Deluxe Impact in in general is accessories... The Jakks figures are more accurate and sturdier and bigger. I get a C.M. Punk Mattel Elite and open it and the thing feels tiny and like the axle connecting the legs inside the pelvis is gonna fall apart and the legs will fall off or something...

I think people who collect mattel were so hungry for anything hogan there standards are blurred especially the headsculpt though I think the latest Hulk rules with boa is pretty decent head but the DM was brutal almost greasy and sleazy hulk hogan and the freaky hair and holes in the head is a joke and they didnt even remove the head holes on a basic ? and the rubber shirts ? Yeah I hate the Mattel hogan other than for fodder parts Oh and they even screwed up the color of the gold chain ? I like the TNA heads but my Favorite hogan is Jakks CS series 8 Brother

I've said it before, the CS8 Hogan restarted my wrestling collection, lol.

Its strange most here use the Thunderlips Hogan head for a mid 80s Hulkster ? I think it looks horrible but I think the CS8 is the best and then the TNA Bandanna one .

I love the Mattel Hogan stuff so far(hotly anticipating the WM9 Hogan) but I also LOVE the Jakks TNA ones as well. the Immortal version is a pretty sweet figure....as is the wrestling attire and 2 pack version that came with Abyss.

Ive said this before. the mattel hogans all are letdowns. the jakks hogans are all better, period. the kids on here love the mattel stuff because half em arent even old enough to remember jakks let alone anything else. just because theyre new doesnt mean a damn overall. the tna hogan with the black shirt and pants is one of the best hogan figures made. i have dozens of hogans but ive yet to see a mattel version thats worth my money

The body is perfect. However, the headsculpts are crap. The upcoming one they're using on the American Made Exclusive is garbage too. Jakks Hogan heads are better because they spent the time to perfect the headsculpts. There's more than two colors to a head, and there's definition to it. Comparing Headsculpts: Jakks TNA: to Mattel WWE:

I like both, but the Jakks heads are miles better than Mattel. Hogan's American Made fig looks like somebody just blew into his ear...

While I will say I am not a fan of the new American Made Mattel scan I do like the overall look of the Mattel WMH Hogan better than any mass released Hogan figure released by LJN, OSFTM, Toy Biz, Jakks and Mattel. While it's a basic I think it captures Hogan all round look the best. I do think Jakks street clothes Hogan's look better overall than Mattel's street clothes Hogan figures.
But to think Jakks figures in general are better than Mattel's is crazy. I took out two of my favorite Jericho figures yesterday. One was his first TTL and the other was his R3 in green and both suffered from gorilla arms. Which made me go back and look at more from both series and all TTL's with elbow joints and most R3's had arms that almost reached their knees. And R3 figures with Angles legs had their knee joints in their shins. But back in the day I thought they were great. RA's some had out of scale heads. And all had thunder thighs and almost the same height/build across the board. But I loved them back in the day as well and I still have my CS displayed. DA's I was one of the few who like them back in the day except for the extra large balloon arms. And I still have the CSDA displayed. But 85%-90% of the board hated the DA figures, because their heads were to large, they were to tall, to thin and very loose...so I find it kind of funny how some are saying Jakks DA/DI figures are all around better than Mattel's Elite styled figures. Every company has had good figures and bad figures.
