Okay, I'll bite. Is there a backstory to any of these title changes? When is this set? Starting in January 2002. And no. A little more information could be given here. It would help people understand this diary better as some may think you're just running with real life 2002. Just dropping that in here.

Starting in January 2002. And no. A little more information could be given here. It would help people understand this diary better as some may think you're just running with real life 2002. Just dropping that in here. My first episode of Raw will be coming out later. Hopefully that gives you a better idea of what's going on.

January 7, 2002 | Dunkin' Donuts Center | Providence, RI The fireworks are set off, and the first Raw of 2002 is officially underway. JR and the King welcome us to not only Raw, but 2002, and announce our main event for the evening - The Rock vs the current Undisputed WWF Champion, Chris Jericho. The familiar sound of The Rock's entrance theme is blasted through the arena to a huge pop from the fans. Rocky grabs a microphone, and begins to address Chris Jericho. Rock proclaims that he is finally going to beat that blond candy ass all over the arena, but not before he's interrupted by Jericho himself, who, from the top of the ramp, claims that The Rock is all talk, and that he doesn't stand a chance in the ring against him. Jericho then says that The Rock will never be the man his mother is, which makes The Rock mad. Rocky sprints down the ramp, and he's met by Jericho, and the two exchange punches. They brawl all the way down to the ring, until General Manager, Ric Flair walks down the ramp, with security in tow, and has the two separated. Flair now proclaims that their match is now a No Disqualifications match. - Commercial Break - Kevin Kelly is backstage with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Kelly asks Austin's thoughts headed into his match with Taz later on in the evening. Austin says that he's going to cuss, kick ass, and drink beer. Lance Storm vs ChristianA very nice match between two talented young men. Christian would attempt to take out the arms of Storm, preventing him from utilising his submission based moveset. Christian did everything thinkable. He locked Storm in the armbar, stomped on the arm, and even sent him shoulder first into the steel steps, however, it was not enough to keep Storm down, as he would lock in the sharpshooter and get the win. - Commercial Break - We're back in the arena, and Bradshaw and Faarooq are backstage in Ric Flair's office, trying to get spots in the Royal Rumble, but they're interrupted by D-Lo Brown, then Crash Holly, then Goldust, and finally Tommy Dreamer. Flair says that the six men will be competing in a six man tag team match on Raw, with the winning team all getting spots in the Royal Rumble, and that that match is next. The APA and Tommy Dreamer vs D-Lo Brown, Goldust, and Crash HollyThis match was largely dominated by Brown, Goldust and Holly, who kept Dreamer isolated from his partners for the majority of the match. But eventually Dreamer got the tag, and in came Faarooq, who dropped Brown with a heavy right hand, and then sent Goldust and Crash flying off of the apron. D-Lo came running at Faarooq, but Faarooq planted his former stablemate with a huge spinebuster. Faarooq then tagged in Bradshaw, who rocked the now legal Goldust with a massive Clothesline From Hell, which would give his team the win, allowing all three to advance to the Royal Rumble match. The camera cuts backstage first to a shot of William Regal walking to the gorilla position, and then DDP making his way to the curtain. - Commercial Break - Diamond Dallas Page vs William RegalThis was a very even match from start to finish. The two men would exchange right hands throughout, and control shifted back and forth numerous times. The underhanded Regal would try and use every dirty trick in the book that he knew throughout, including eye rakes, using the ropes for leverage, and even an attempted shot at Page using brass knuckles, but it wasn't enough, as DDP managed to hit the Diamond Cutter and get the win. JR and King talk about the Royal Rumble, and how it's a huge event heading into Wrestlemania. They also talk to us about our next match, Rob Van Dam vs The Hurricane. Rob Van Dam vs The HurricaneThis was a tremendous contest based around high-flying. Cross-bodies, missile dropkicks and sentons were just a few of the amazing aerial assaults that were on display here. The Hurricane came very close to winning after making a death-defying leap from the top rope onto the ramp where Van Dam was positioned and then spiking RVD on his head with a DDT, but eventually, Van Dam got the win after hitting a roundhouse kick and then a Five Star Frog Splash. - Commercial Break - Trish Stratus' theme plays and she makes her way to the ring, microphone in hand. She talks about the Royal Rumble, but before she can go any further, she's interrupted by Victoria. Victoria says that she thinks it's about time she gets her opportunity at the Women's Championship. Trish says that she accepts, and she'll fight her at the Royal Rumble. JR and King announce that the match is official. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs TazThis was an incredible match from beginning to end. Austin and Taz, two big, rough bruisers completely decimated each other. Taz launched Austin with suplexes, Austin took Taz down with clothesline. Taz locked in a submission, Austin unleashed the punches. Non stop back and forth, and the fans are it up. Taz thought he had Austin beat when he launched Taz with a dragon suplex and then locked in the Tazzmission, but Austin fought out. Austin hit the Stunner, but Taz kicked out. Austin hit another, but Taz kicked out. It took three Stone Cold Stunners to keep Taz down for the three count, but Austin did it and walked away with the win. Both competitors shook hands after the match, in a huge show of respect. - Commercial Break - JR and King welcome us back, and inform us that our main event of the evening, The Rock vs WWF Undisputed Champion Chris Jericho is next. The Rock vs Chris JerichoThe match began with The Rock making his way to the ring, but he was stopped by Jericho who got in the cheap shot from behind. Jericho then beat Rocky down, sending him into the steps, into the barricade, and through the announce table, but Rock managed to fight back, and unloaded a flurry of punches on Jericho. The brawl went all the way into the crowd, with Rock and Jericho brawling all around the arena. Eventually, Rock sent Jericho over the barricade, but he took too long to celebrate, because when he turned around, "Y2J" clobbered him with a chair shot. Jericho would get an array of weapons from under the ring, including chairs, trash cans, kendo sticks, and even a table. When Jericho got back in the ring, Rock hit him with a spinebuster, and began his own onslaught with weapons. Rock busted the champ wide open with a chair, and signalled that he was looking for the end. Rock set Jericho up for the Rock Bottom, and he sent Jericho through the table with a thunderous Rock Bottom. Rock went for the pin, but Jericho kicked out at 2.9. Rocky picked him up and went for it again, but Jericho countered it into a small package and got the win. The bloody Jericho left the ring with his belt, victorious. "Y2J" kicked off 2002 with an impressive victory.

January 11, 2002 | Dunkin' Donuts Center | Providence, RI The pyro explodes, and Smackdown is underway. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler welcome us, and also announce that in our main event, Kurt Angle will be taking on The Undertaker. Edge vs Hardcore HollyThe vicious, rough housing style of Bob Holly was on display in this match, as for the majority of it, he kept Edge down. Holly hit Edge with everything he had - Punches, kicks, elbows, even headbutts - but throughout the whole match, Edge kept fighting back. Eventually, Holly lifted Edge up for the Alabama Slam, but Edge was able to counter it into the Edgeucution. With Holly dazed, Edge set him up, and hit with the spear, giving him the victory, and momentum headed into the Royal Rumble. The parking lot is shown on the titantron, and a man on a motorcycle is arriving. It's The Undertaker. - Commercial Break - WWF Tag Team Champions, Billy and Chuck, are backstage with Jonathan Coachman. They begin to talk about how they have dominated the tag team division since they won the titles, but they're interrupted by The Hardy Boyz, who say that if Billy and Chuck are truly as dominant as they say they are, they'll face the Hardyz tonight. Billy and Chuck agree to the match, and it's confirmed. Billy Kidman vs The Hurricane vs Scotty 2 HottyThe cruiserweights took center stage here, as Kidman, Hurricane and Scotty battled each other in a thrilling match. From start to finish, this match was 100 miles an hour. Kidman took a huge risk in the middle of the match, hitting a breathtaking Shooting Star Press to the outside on both of his opponents. Hurricane looked to get rid of Scotty to make the match easier for himself by suplexing him on the apron, but he was unsuccessful, as he fell victim to The Worm. Eventually, Kidman would hit a Tornado DDT on The Hurricane, and then another Shooting Star Press to earn himself the win. -Commercial Break - The WWF Slam Of The Week, presented by Snickers, is shown. It shows us a replay from Raw, featuring Chris Jericho stealing a win from The Rock in the main event. Chris Jericho's music hits and he makes his way down the ramp, microphone in hand. He begins to talk about everything he's accomplished in the business, and that there's nothing left to do for him, because he's beaten everybody, and he runs off a list. The Rock. Steve Austin. The Undertaker. Kurt Angle. Taz. DDP. Christian. Kane. Chris Benoit. Edge. The Hurricane. Triple H. Ric Flair. He continues to talk, but he's interrupted by the sound of Rob Van Dam's theme song. RVD says that that was a very impressive list, but he noticed that his name was missing, and he says it's because Jericho can't defeat him. Jericho asks what he's trying to say, and Van Dam says that he's challenging Chris Jericho to a match tonight. Jericho says he accepts, and it's set. Val Venis vs Diamond Dallas PageVal Venis returned after a 7 month hiatus recovering from an ankle injury, but he was immediately met with the tough challenge of DDP. The two big men would exchange strikes, slams, and throws, but neither man would stay down. Venis rocked Page with a big boot, but DDP managed to kick out. After sending him to the mat with a running powerslam, Val went for The Money Shot, but Page countered it into an incredible Diamond Cutter, which gave him the win. A split-screen is shown, featuring both WWF Tag Team Champions Billy and Chuck and The Hardy Boyz making their way to the gorilla position. - Commercial Break - Billy and Chuck vs The Hardy BoyzThe immensely popular Hardyz took on Billy and Chuck, but from the very beginning, they were on the defensive. At a size disadvantage, the Hardyz would try and use their quickness against their larger opponents, and it worked for a while, until Chuck managed to isolate the knee of Jeff and keep him grounded. Billy and Chuck showed great tag team wrestling by working together to take out the knee of Hardy, and keep him from getting to the top rope. Billy got distracted for a second, however, and it would prove to be costly, as Jeff managed to get the tag to his fresher brother, who came in and started cleaning house on the champions. Matt hit the twist of fate, and Jeff was about to go for the Swanton Bomb, but Billy pushed him off the top rope, which distracted Matt, allowing Chuck to roll him up from behind and get the win for his team. RVD is backstage, walking to the gorilla position, when he's stopped by Lillian Garcia. She asks his thoughts headed into his match, and he says he's going to go out there and give it his all against Jericho to prove that he can hang in the main event. Rob Van Dam vs WWF Undisputed Champion Chris JerichoVan Dam came in full steam ahead, and for the majority of this match, he had Jericho's number. Jericho went for his trademark Lionsault, but RVD moved out of the way. Jericho went for Codebreaker, but Van Dam countered it into a powerbomb. Even when Jericho went for the Walls Of Jericho, Van Dam countered it into a pinning combination. RVD hit Jericho with everything he had. Superkick, split-legged moonsault, monkey flip, barricade legdrop, and even went for the Five Star Frog Splash, but that was when the odds would swing in Jericho's favour. Jericho moved out of the way, and kept RVD under control for most of the match, until he was distracted by somebody at the top of the stage, who turned out to be none other than The Rock. Jericho's attention shifted to Rock, and that momentary distraction would cost him, as RVD would roll him up to get a huge win over the Undisputed Champion. Jericho was beside himself. - Commercial Break - Kurt Angle vs The UndertakerAngle and Undertaker, quite simply, destroyed each other. From the get go, these two were brawling and going at it. Angle and Taker brawled all the way to the outside of the ring, where eventually, Angle got the upper hand by sending Taker into the barricade shoulder first. Angle would then bring Taker back into the ring, and use his submission based offence to decimate The Undertaker. Angle primarily went to work on the long, tree trunk like legs of The Undertaker, first locking him in a Boston Crab, then a Figure Four, and even a sharpshooter, all to soften up the legs for Kurt's dreaded Ankle Lock. Angle would let Taker get up and go for the Angle Slam, but Undertaker countered it, and hit Kurt with a big boot, that sent him flying to the mat. Taker picked Angle up and got in position for Old School, but Kurt swept the leg of The Undertaker, which sent him crashing to the mat. Angle would then lock The Undertaker in the Ankle Lock, trying to end the match. Taker, writhing and screaming in pain, tried his hardest to reach the ropes, but Kurt dragged him back into the middle of the ring, and grapevined him. Taker seemed like he was fading, but using all the strength he had, made it to the ropes. Both men slowly made their way to their feet, and began exchanging strikes. Angle would kick the knee of Undertaker, sending him down on one knee, which would prompt Kurt to set up for the Angle Slam. Taker made it back to his feet, but from seemingly out of nowhere, Taker hit Angle with the Tombstone, and get the win, which had to give him a lot of confidence headed into the Royal Rumble.

You've got an okay start to your diary, and it looks like it has quite a bit of potential, but it is a little confusing since you've moved title changes and the Brand Extension up a few months. A little backstory wouldn't have hurt. Still I'm interested to see where you take 2002.

January 14, 2002 | CenturyLink Arena, Boise, ID The pyro explodes, and The King and JR welcome us to another edition of WWF Raw. An irate Chris Jericho, microphone in hand, storms to the ring, declaring that he got screwed on Smackdown. He claims RVD took the easy way out, by rolling Jericho up while he was still distracted. He begins to call Van Dam a coward, and says that the win was a fluke. Van Dam's music hits and he comes out, but before Jericho can say anything, RVD says that Jericho is just bitter because he found somebody he couldn't beat. Jericho says that he can beat him, and he challenges him to a match. Van Dam says that he already knows he can beat Jericho, and he'll only face him again under the circumstances that if he wins, he gets a title shot at the Royal Rumble. Jericho says he's smarter than that, and he knows better than to trust Van Dam because he believes he's a cheater. Van Dam says that it's a real shame, Jericho asks him what's a shame, and Van Dam says it's a shame that the Undisputed Champion, the man that represents this company is such a little bitch. Van Dam's music hits and he leaves, while the angry Jericho can be seen yelling. - Commercial Break - Val Venis vs DDP vs Christian - #1 Contender's Match for the WWF Intercontinental ChampionshipSurprisingly, Christian, the smallest man in the match, had the upper hand for most of it. Before the match started, and before Page even mad his way to the ring, Christian took Venis out from behind while he was still removing his towel. Christian put the boots to him on the outside, and sent him flying over the announce table, and into JR and King. Page came running down the ring and him and Christian began brawling, until they finally got in the ring and the match began. Christian kept DDP down, hitting him with stomps, elbows, punches, and anything he could think of. Page fought back after a while, sending Christian down with a clothesline, but Christian managed to fight back himself, and sent DDP crashing to the outside. While Christian was celebrating, Venis came in and rolled him up, Christian rolled through and went for the Killswitch, but Venis got out of it and pulled off a huge spinebuster to Christian. Val saw his opportunity and climbed to the top, and hit The Money Shot, but as he went for the pin, DDP broke it up, and when Venis rose to his feet, sent him crashing back down with the Diamond Chtter for the win. The IC Champion, William Regal, who was on commentary, had a face off with Page after the match. - Commercial Break - Kevin Kelly is backstage, and he walks up to Chris Jericho, who's still angry from the earlier events of the evening involving him and RVD. Jericho says that nobody makes an ass out of Chris Jericho, and that one way or another, he will get his revenge on Rob Van Dam. The Hardy Boyz vs The DudleyzThe Hardyz fought with all they had. Being outmuscled by both Dudleyz from the start, they used their speed and quickness advantage to swing things in their favour. They kept Bubba over in the Hardyz corner of the ring, and did a great job of cutting the ring in half. Eventually the sheer mass of Bubba Dudley caught up with them, as he would drop Jeff with a Bubba Bomb, and manage to tag in D-Von, who simply overpowered both of The Hardyz. Matt managed to get some offence in, hitting a Twist Of Fate/Stunner, which had D-Von rocking, practically out on his feet. Jeff called for his brother to hit the Swanton, but Bubba sent Matt outside the ring with a shot from behind. Bubba played possum, and as Jeff came off the top rope, the Dudleyz caught them in the 3D and got the win. - Commercial Break - Ric Flair, the Raw General Manager's music hits. He comes to the ring and grabs a microphone. He says that after doing some thinking, he has determined that in order to find out who will gain the coveted number thirty spot in the Royal Rumble, there will be a fifteen man battle royal and that it will be happening right now. But, before he leaves, Flair also says that the person who gets eliminated last will be forced to enter at the number one position. Flair leaves. Fifteen man battle royal to determine the number 30 and number one entrants in the Royal Rumble - Hardcore Holly vs Steven Richards vs Al Snow vs Billy Kidman vs Raven vs Maven vs The Hurricane vs Lance Storm vs Kane vs Scotty 2 Hotty vs Spike Dudley vs Crash Holly vs Booker T vs Edge vs TazAs the match began, everybody focused on one task, getting rid of the biggest man in the match, Kane. After everybody being cagey at first, Crash Holly ran towards him, but Kane sent him flying straight over the top rope for our first elimination. After that, everybody came after Kane, and Kane knocked off almost everybody, except for Taz. Kane tried to knock Taz down, but Taz remained stood up. This angered Kane, and he ran for Taz, but Taz caught him and launched him with a huge belly to belly suplex, knocking the big man for a loot. After this, everybody went after each other, and after fighting for a while, Booker T eliminated Al Snow and Maven eliminated The Hurricane. By now, Kane had risen back to his feet, and set his attention on Taz, who was trying to eliminate Edge in the corner. Kane went over to Taz, and tried the elimination, but Edge saw his chance, and tried to flip both Kane and Taz over, but he failed. Both men were now hanging from the top rope by their hands, and they began kicking each other to try and gain the respective elimination. Eventually they both skinned the cat and got back in the ring. As Kane turned around, he was met by Scotty 2 Hotty, who he easily eliminated, then Raven, who he again eliminated, then Lance Storm, who he also eliminated. Finally, Spike Dudley came running at Kane, but Kane picked him up with a gorilla press, and sent flying to the outside onto Storm, Scotty, and Raven. As Hardcore Holly and Billy Kidman were both trying to eliminate each other, Steven Richards came up from behind and managed to eliminate both of them at the same time. Now, Taz, Edge, Booker T, and Maven were all trying to eliminate Kane. They have him on the ropes, and they're inches away from eliminating him, but as they're about to, Kane overpowers all of them, sending them flying across the ring. While Kane is still getting his bearings against the ropes, Richards sees his opportunity, and hits Kane with a standing dropkick, that eliminates the big man. Stevie can't believe he actually managed to eliminate Kane, but while he's celebrating, Booker comes up from behind and sends him over the ropes, eliminating Stevie too, which brings the match down to the final four - Booker, Maven, Taz, and Edge. Maven, the youngest man in the match, goes after Taz, but Taz catches him, and goes for a belly to belly to the outside, but Maven manages to get out. Maven tries to get Taz out by going for a hurricanrana, and gets him over the ropes, but Taz manages to get out and hang onto the ropes, which causes Maven to fall the to the ground and eliminate himself. Now, Booker, Edge and Taz all stare down, knowing what the winner will gain. Booker immediately takes out Edge with the scissors kick, momentarily leaving just him and Taz. Booker runs after the human suplex machine, but Taz manages to use Booker's momentum against him, turn around, and send him flying with a German Suplex. Taz maintains his grip, and hits another. Taz goes for a third, but Booker gets out and sends Taz over the top. Booker thinks he's eliminated Taz, but Taz grabs him and pulls him out onto the apron with him. Booker and Taz are now brawling on the apron, and "The Human Suplex Machine" goes for a suplex from the apron, but Booker fights out, and manages to kick Taz in the leg. Taz falls down to one knee, and Booker takes advantage, kicking Taz in the head and eliminating him. Booker thinks he's won, but he celebrated too early, as when he turns around, he's met by a spear from Edge, which gives Edge the win and the number 30 spot, and Booker the number one spot. Edge celebrates in the ring, as Booker T is beside himself at ringside. - Commercial Break - Rob Van Dam is backstage in his locker room, as he stands up, Chris Jericho runs in and attacks him from behind, punches and kicks him, and then sends him flying into a locker. Jericho then begins to yell and call Van Dam a "stupid son of a bitch". He then says that he'll never get another match against him again, and leaves. Stone Cold Steve Austin, in his ring gear, makes his way down to the ring and begins to talk. He says that he's ready for a fight, and issues an open challenge to anybody in the back. He's met by The Undertaker, who says that he's accepting the challenge. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The UndertakerUndertaker tried as hard as he could to use his size against Austin, but it just didn't work. Every time he sent "The Bionic Redneck" down, he got straight back up and got in The Undertaker's face. Undertaker went for the strikes, but Austin blocked them and fired away a flurry of his own punches. Undertaker went running towards Stone Cold, but he lowbridged the ropes and sent Taker flying over the top rope. Austin and Undertaker began brawling on the outside, and Undertaker sent Stone Cold flying into the ring steps shoulder first, which gave him the upper hand as we cut to a commercial break. - Commercial Break - As we returned, Undertaker had Austin in the ring, trapped in an armbar. Throughout the break, we were told that Taker looked to go to work and focus on the now injured shoulder of Austin. Stone Cold got back to his feet, and connected with punches to the Undertaker, but Taker took him down with a clothesline, and went back to work on the shoulder again. After a while, Austin reached the ropes and managed to rise to his feet again, and hit the Undertaker with punches, and sent him to the mat. Austin ran into the ropes and hit his signature elbow, but as Undertaker got up, he hit Austin with a big boot which damn near knocked him out. Undertaker was calling for Austin to get back to his feet so he could hit the choke slam, but when Austin got back up, he hit The Undertaker with a stunner, sending Taker flying across the ring. Austin went for the cover, but only got 2.9, as Taker kicked out. He called for Taker to get up, and The Undertaker rose to his feet. He went after Austin, but he missed and knocked out the referee. He turned around and hit the chokeslam on Austin and went for the cover, but there was no ref. As Taker got up in confusion and called for another ref, it gave Austin enough time to get back up and rise to his feet. Undertaker went for Austin, but Austin rolled him up with the small package, but both referees counted three, which caused a debate between the two as to who is the rightful winner of the match. The first referee, Nick Patrick, raised the hand of the Austin as the winner, but the second referee, Charles Robinson, raised the hand of Undertaker as the winner. Raw closed with Austin and Undertaker in each other's faces, arguing over who won.

WWF Monday Night RAW: Monday 7th January 2002…Okay, first show of the year. Made known for the return of Triple H to the WWF after being out injured back in May 2001. However it seems like you have alternated history in 2001 and this confuses a lot of things because there is no backstory given. You really should have this to give depth to the storylines that are ongoing. Wrong logo for the time period, by the way. The Rock opening up the show to address Chris Jericho was expected, and I liked the interactions between the two men building to a No-Disqualification main event with the WWF Undisputed Championship at stake. General Manager Ric Flair? This is an example of why you need more of a backstory than “so here’s the roster, here are the champions, let’s do it”, especially with being in the middle of build for two pay-per-views. Lance Storm beating Christian was fine, although who is the heel in this one? Probably was a fun match, though. The sharpshooter being the finish was an interesting decision, there. The midcarders of the Attitude Era (and Tommy Dreamer) competing for a shot in the Royal Rumble match – alright, the APA were better off winning here. Strange that Tommy Dreamer wound up on that team, too. D-Lo Brown in 1998 had a great potential in one day being a main event star: but that was four years ago, and he’s been given a lot of embarrassing angles and uninteresting storylines, so it’s too late now. Goldust in 1996 was similar – but in 2002 he was unmotivated in the ring and didn’t really get good until later this year. Crash Holly in 2002 is an afterthought – so the right team won here if we’re talking relevant stars. Diamond Dallas Page defeating William Regal was good, although DDP’s run in 2002 was short-lived yet eventful. I wouldn’t mind him getting a midcard title run – although I am surprised to see Regal lose here when 2002 he had a great character. Rob Van Dam beating the Hurricane made perfect sense, I think Hurricane was still the heel at this point, too. How did Mighty Molly get a shot at the WWF Women’s Championship? I’m cool with it because Molly is one of the best female workers you have and will probably help a developing Trish Stratus as champion – but it’s kind of random. Also, that graphic is really big and should be shrunk down a good bit. Another note is the layout – it’s very basic and could use some fine-tuning: bold, underlines, a better font (stemming from my hatred for Verdana). Stone Cold Steve Austin should have wiped the floor with Tazz, really. Tazz probably benefitted, but the fact that Austin didn’t just Stunner Tazz in this match makes him look weak. And lastly, Chris Jericho beats the Rock in a WWF Undisputed Championship No-Disqualification main event: which wasn’t highlighted. It was a decent write-up, but the stipulations should have been listed there. Overall, this was a base show and showed the reader what you can do: however, and I cannot stress this enough – the lack of backstory really hurt this. Additionally there should have been more backstage segments between matches, because this was really a long in-ring presentation unfitting for the Attitude Era even by 2002. Along with this, the booking decisions as noted earlier should be tidied. One other thing, it appears that only three storylines were presented here, with three matches set up for the Royal Rumble in a few weeks. No Triple H either…try to think long-term booking plans in future. Not the worst start, but a lot to work on nonetheless. It’s refreshing to see an old-school diary on the boards, so I’m hoping this lasts. Expect a SmackDown! reply some other time.

January 18, 2002 | CenturyLink Arena, Boise, ID The pyro goes off and we are welcomed to yet another edition of WWF Smackdown. Chris Jericho's theme song hits, and he makes his way down to the ring, microphone in hand. He says that on Monday Night Raw, he outsmarted Rob Van Dam, and made him look like the fool that he is. Jericho then goes on to state that on behalf of WWF Medical Staff, he regrettably has to announce that Rob Van Dam sustained a head injury on Raw, and will unfortunately not be able to compete for 3 weeks, which means that he has no chance of facing Jericho at the Royal Rumble. Before he can go any further, The Rock's music hits, and he comes down to the ring. Rock says that Jericho better be prepared for their match later in the evening, and Jericho, looking confused, asks him "what match?", to which Rock tells him that there is indeed a match later on in the main event, and it'll be Rocky vs Jericho in the main event. Jericho says he's ready, and he's gonna make Rock look like a fool again, to which Rock replies "The Rock would make you look like a fool, but judging by those pink tights.. I don't need to." Rock leaves the ring, and Jericho looks at him in disapproval. - Commercial Break - Diamond Dallas Page vs Hardcore HollyDDP looked to prepare for his match against WWF Intercontinental Champion William Regal at the Royal Rumble by taking on the smashmouth style of Hardcore Holly, but taking him on was no easy task. Holly started off things quick by taking Holly down and raining the strikes down on DDP's head. Holly then decided to take out the arm of Page, by tying his arm in the ropes, and locking on the armbar. Holly kept page down by repeatedly working on the arm and trying to prevent DDP from being able to use the Diamond Cutter, and Page was visibly affected, holding his arm for most of the match. Page managed to get some offence in on Holly, hitting him with clubbing shots to the back, and dropping him in his head with a DDT. Holly kicked out and brought the offence back to Page again, pulling off a delayed vertical suplex. DDP after a while managed to swing things back in his favour. Holly had him on the apron, but Page pulled him down, causing him to hit his throat on the ropes. However, as DDP was getting back in the ring and the referee was checking on Holly, William Regal, who was sat at ringside, clobbered Page with a shot with the brass knuckles right to the side of the head, which allowed Holly to get the pin and steel a win from DDP. Booker T is backstage with Jonathan Coachman. The Coach asks Booker what his thoughts are after he was eliminated last in the Battle Royal on Raw, causing him to gain the #1 entry into the Royal Rumble match. Booker says that he will give congratulations where they're in order - "Edge did surprise me and get the win in that match. But he got lucky. And come the Royal Rumble, I'm gonna outlast all 28 other men until it's just me and Edge. If he can last that long..". Stone Cold's music hits and he makes his way down to the ring, grabs a microphone, and begins to talk. He says that since they're was no clear winner this past Monday night on Raw, he wants The Undertaker to come down to the ring and face him again. But this time, with no referee, no wrestling, no pins, no submissions, just a good old fashioned street fight to see who's the better man. The Undertaker's music hits and Taker comes sprinting down the ramp, and Austin meets him there. The two men begin to exchange strikes, until Taker sends Austin over the barricade with a stiff uppercut. Taker climbs over too, but he's met with Austin, who hits Taker with punches of his own. Stone Cold sends Taker crashing into a wall with a hard Irish whip. The two men, now deep into the crowd, begin raining punches down on each other again. Undertaker hits Austin with a big boot which sends him crashing back over the barricade and onto the floor. Taker drags Austin through a curtain next to the entranceway, which leads them to the backstage area. Taker pulls Austin over to a car, and attempts to slam him onto it, but Austin fights back, and sends Undertaker face first into the hood of the car. Austin begins to kick Undertaker in the the face while he's grounded, and goes to grab a chair, but before he can, security come running in to try and separate the two men, and they succeed for a while, until both men break free and start brawling again. Even more security come out and they separate them. Vince McMahon then runs down, accompanied by police officers. McMahon instructs them to have both Austin and Undertaker arrested, and they both get handcuffed, put into separate police cars, and taken away. Vince McMahon's music hits and he walks down the ramp with a purpose and grabs a microphone. He announces that what happened moments ago was despicable and that as long as he is alive and breathing, will never happen again. He also says that he will not sit back and watch his show descend into anarchy, and both Austin and Undertaker have been arrested and will be punished for their actions. McMahon leaves. - Commercial Break - Kurt Angle vs TazAfter impressing a lot of people in recent weeks, Taz was given the opportunity to take on Kurt Angle on Smackdown, and he did no fooling around. Almost immediately after the bell rang, Angle sprinted towards Taz, and Taz caught him, and sent him launching across the ring with a belly to belly. Angle came at him again, and once again, Taz threw him with a belly to belly. Angle went after him yet again, and Taz threw him once again. Angle rolled to the outside, looking confused. But, before he could get back in the ring, he was met by Taz, who went for a German on the outside, but Angle countered it, and sent Taz face first into the ring post. This gave Angle time to get back into the ring and recover. After Taz got back in, Angle kept him grounded, utilising leg submissions and other attacks on the legs to soften up the huge legs of Taz for the ankle lock. After a while, Taz managed catch Angle with some punches and pick him up for a straight vertical suplex. Angle got back up and Taz went for him, but Angle managed to duck the clothesline attempt, and trip Taz down into position for the ankle lock. Taz was writhing in pain, and he eventually managed to get to the ropes. After he got back up, Kurt went for the Angle Slam, but Taz managed to lock in the Tazzmission. Angle was fighting and clawing with everything he had to get to the ropes, but Taz just would not let him go. Taz then fell to the mat and grapevined Angle, trapping him in the middle of the ring, causing him to tap out, and to give Taz the win. Vince McMahon is backstage, and he's seen by Ric Flair. Flair criticises McMahon's way of running things on Smackdown, saying that things like the brawl between Stone Cold and The Undertaker shouldn't happen. McMahon gets in Flair's face and tells him that if he doesn't like his way of running things, then that's just too damn bad, and he walks off. Mighty Molly vs VictoriaTo prepare for her match at the Royal Rumble, Molly challenged Victoria to a match, which she agreed to. Molly, the more experienced of the two, was in control from the start, wearing down Victoria with a plethora of offensive moves. Victoria fought back, but she was completely dominated by Molly, who spiked Victoria on her head with a DDT and got the win. Trish Stratus, the Women's Champion, observed the match from the stage, and her and her challenger, Molly, stared each other down. The WWF Slam Of The Week, presented by Snickers, is shown, and it gives us a recap of Edge winning the battle royal to gain the right to be the 30th entrant into the Royal Rumble. - Commercial Break - The Rock vs Chris JerichoIn a rematch from the first Raw of the year, Chris Jericho and The Rock clashed again, but this time, in a regular match. Rocky got control at first, sending Jericho to the mat with a clothesline, but Jericho managed to eventually get some offence of his own in, and swung the match in his favour by driving The Rock shoulder first into the turnbuckle. Realising his opponent was weakened, Jericho went after the arm of Rocky, and locked in an armbar, but The Rock made it to the ropes. Jericho then went for the Lionsault, but Rock got the knees up, and then unloaded on Jericho with his signature strikes, making the champion groggy, Rock took Jericho down with a spinebuster, and set up for the People's Elbow, but Jericho got up and pushed The Rock, which inadvertently caused him to take out the referee, Jericho then hit Rock with a low blow, and began to celebrate, before locking on the Walls Of Jericho. Jericho however realised there was no referee, but before he could turn around, Rob Van Dam's music hit, and Jericho turned his attention to the entrance way. The Rock, now back to his feet, saw the opportunity, and took it, sending Jericho down with a huge Rock Bottom. Rock managed to get the win, and Jericho was incensed. Jericho looked at the stage, and there was Rob Van Dam at the top of stage, looking at Jericho and laughing at him. Jericho started to throw a temper tantrum, and SmackDown closed with Jericho screaming in the ring.

January 21, 2002 | Delta Center, Salt Lake City, UT The pyro goes off, and JR and The King welcome us to another edition of WWF Monday Night Raw. Raw opens up with an irate Chris Jericho storming his way to the ring. He claims that he's "had it" and he tells Rob Van Dam to "get his ass out here". Van Dam's music hits and he makes his way to the ring. He grabs a mic, but before he can say a word, Jericho once again begins talking. He says that "nobody embarrasses Chris Jericho", and that Van Dam won't get away with what he did. Van Dam says that if Jericho is so mad, he'll try and prove that he's better than RVD by beating him at the Royal Rumble. Jericho, still angry tells Van Dam that if he wants him at the Rumble, then he's got him, and it's official. Van Dam smiles and leaves the ring. - Commercial Break - Kevin Kelly, mic in hand, runs after Chris Jericho backstage, and asks him what his thoughts are after just granting Rob Van Dam a shot at the WWF Undisputed Championship at the Royal Rumble. Jericho looks at him for a few seconds, then yells and pushes him away. Christian vs MavenThis match was largely dominated by Christian, who use sly, underhanded tactics to gain the advantage numerous times. Just as it seemed that Maven was about to go on the offensive, Christian would either poke him in the eye or using the ropes for leverage when he'd go for a pin. Maven however did get in some offense towards the end, hitting Christian with a flying clothesline and then rocking him with a big boot, but Christian would eventually hit the Unprettier and get the win. Kevin Kelly is backstage with William Regal. He asks Regal for his thoughts headed into his match against DDP at the Royal Rumble. Regal says that he's going to make sure that Page never gets his filthy paws on Regal's Intercontinental Championship, and he can rest assured that afterwards, Regal will still be the champion. Regal is about to leave, but before he does, DDP appears and asks him why he's being so negative. Regal says that he thinks that Page looks like a big idiot when he walks around with that huge smile on his face. Regal shakes his head, and Page says that he will beat Regal, and he will become the Intercontinental Champion, and that that's a good thing. DDP leaves. - Commercial Break - The Hurricane vs Val VenisThis could be described as a mismatch. The cruiserweight, Hurricane, was largely outweighed by his opponent, the 265lb Val Venis. Regardless, Hurricane used his quickness to his advantage, sticking and moving with kicks. Eventually, Hurricane wore Venis down enough to force Val to roll to the outside, and Hurricane then took to the skies with a flying cross body from the top rope and to the outside, on top of Venis. Hurricane got up, sent Val back into the ring, and went for the cover, but Val got the kick out. Hurricane got complacent after a while and telegraphed a missile dropkick, and that was just enough for Venis to capitalise and hit him with a DDT. Val then went to the top and hit The Money Shot for the win. Trish Stratus is backstage in the locker room preparing for her match later in the evening, and Mighty Molly walks in. Molly tells her that she hopes she's ready for the Royal Rumble, because Molly is going to give her everything she's got. Stratus looks Molly in the eye and tells her that she hopes she's ready, because she's the WWF Women's Champion for a reason. The two women get in each other's faces, and Molly leaves. A limousine is shown in the parking lot. The door opens, and Mr. McMahon appears from inside. Lance Storm vs Steven RichardsAfter a strong showing in the Battle Royal last week, Stevie looked to continue to gain more momentum headed into the Royal Rumble by defeating Lance Storm, but, as Storm would go on to prove, that is no easy task. Storm, the submission specialist, wore Stevie down with an array of different holds. Richards gave as good as he got, however, matching Lance move for move. As the match progressed, Storm began to favour his head, and Stevie looked at it like it was a bullseye, hitting Lance with numerous strikes and driving him head first into the turnbuckle. Storm however wouldn't stay down, and was about to set up for a sharpshooter, but Stevie rolled him up and got the win, which had to feel good headed into the Royal Rumble match. The Dudley Boys, The Hardyz, and The APA are in Ric Flair's office, trying to get an opportunity at Billy and Chuck's Tag Team championships. After about 10 seconds of everybody in the room yelling at him, Flair had enough, and he yelled "ALRIGHT!". Flair then proclaimed that there was going to be a Triple Threat tag team match next, featuring The Hardyz, The Dudley Boys, and The APA to decide who will go on to face Billy and Chuck for the WWF Tag Team Championships at the Royal Rumble. All teams seemed to be happy with that match, and they left, to Flair's visible relief. - Commercial Break - Triple Threat tag team match to determine the #1 Contender's for the WWF World Tag Team Championships - The Hardyz vs The Dudley Boyz vs The APAThe match began with Matt Hardy and Faarooq in the ring, and at first, Matt was completely overpowered by the big 270lb Faarooq, but he managed to use his quickness to his advantage, and got the tag to his brother Jeff. Jeff hit climbed to the top and hit the Whisper In The Wind on Faarooq, but he only got a 2 count, and Faarooq tagged Bradshaw. As the smallest team in the match, The Hardyz were at a clear disadvantage the whole time, but that didn't seem to phase them. Jeff caught Bradshaw with a running dropkick, and he then spread the legs of Bradshaw and came down with both feet into the midsection. He went for the cover, but it was broken up by Faarooq. Jeff picked up Bradshaw, but he caught Hardy with shots to the midsection, and then picked Hardy up and sent him back down again with a huge powerslam, he went for the pin, but Hardy kicked out at 2. Bradshaw bought Hardy to his feet and went for an Irish whip into the ropes, but Jeff countered it and sent Bradshaw into the ropes himself. However, unbeknownst to Hardy, D-Von Dudley got the blind tag on Faarooq, and as Hardy turned around and ran for Bradshaw, he was almost decapitated from a big boot by D-Von. D-Von then sent Hardy into the corner, and came crashing into him with a Stinger Splash. He went for another, but Hardy moved and managed to tag in Matt. Matt got down on his hands and knees, and Jeff ran up him and hit D-Von with a leg drop in the corner. Cover by Matt, but a kick out by D-Von. Hardy picked D-Von up and went for the Side Effect, but D-Von got out of it and hit Hardy in the head with elbows. D-Von went for something, but Matt ducked, and actually hit the Side Effect this time. He went for the cover, but D-Von's tag team partner, Bubba Ray, pulled Hardy out of the ring before referee Charles Robinson could count to 3. Hardy and Bubba began brawling on the outside, and they were soon joined by The APA and D-Von, however, during the brawl, nobody noticed Jeff Hardy, who was on the top rope, and came soaring down to take out everybody. - Commercial Break - As we returned from the commercial break, the legal men in the match were Faarooq and Bubba Ray. We're shown a replay of what happened during the commercial break, which shows us Jeff Hardy getting thrown across the ring and dominated by Bubba Ray. Faarooq however was on the offensive, and had Bubba trapped in the middle of the ring in a sleeper. Bubba Ray managed to to get back to his feet and push Faarooq away, giving himself enough time to recover and tag in D-Von. D-Von came running in and clotheslines Faarooq, and then hit him with a spinebuster and went for the cover, but referee Charles Robinson did not count the pin to D-Von's surprise. As D-Von rose to his feet and turned around, he was rocked by a Clothesline From Hell by Bradshaw. As it turned out, Bradshaw got the blind tag on Faarooq while D-Von's back was turned. Bradshaw went for the cover, but it was broken up by Jeff Hardy. Matt Hardy then tagged himself in, and hit the Twist Of Fate on Bradshaw. Matt then tagged in Jeff, who came off the top with a Swanton. He went for the cover, but Bubba Ray pulled him off. Matt Hardy ran after Bubba, but Bubba turned him around and hit the Bubba Bomb, momentarily taking Hardy out of the picture. Bubba bought Jeff to his feet, D-Von got up, and they hit the 3D and managed to get the win and advance to the Royal Rumble to take on Billy and Chuck for the World Tag Team Championships. Stone Cold Steve Austin is backstage, and he's stopped by Kevin Kelly, but before he can get a word in, The Undertaker walks up and gets in his face. Austin asks "what the hell do you want?", and Undertaker looks him in the eyes and says "You know damn well what I want. If I have to get arrested again, then so be it. Undertaker takes his jacket off, Austin takes off his vest, and they square up for a fistfight, but before it starts, General Manager Ric Flair runs it puts a stop to it. Flair says that if either man so much as lays a finger on the other, he will be suspended without pay. Flair then calls for security, and close to 25 security men come in to make sure The Undertaker and Austin don't get a chance to hit each other. The security men lead Taker and Austin their separate ways, and Flair walks off, but he bumps into Mr McMahon. Flair looks at McMahon and says that that's how you handle a situation like that. Flair leaves as McMahon looks at him in disgust. Main Event - Rob Van Dam vs Kurt AngleThe submission specialist, Kurt Angle, made a point of going after the legs of Van Dam from the beginning of this match. Angle looked to wear down the educated feet of RVD, to not only take away the majority of Van Dam's offence, but to also soften it up for the Ankle Lock. Kurt did a good job for the early parts of the match, making sure Van Dam didn't get a chance to attack. However, it only worked for a while, because Kurt got too cocky, and Van Dam caught him with a roundhouse kick which damn near knocked him out. Van Dam went for the cover, but Angle got the shoulder up. RVD hit a split-legged moonsault in the corner, crushing the sternum of Kurt. Van Dam got up, and bought Kurt to his feet, but that would prove to be a mistake, as Angle grabbed him and threw him across the ring with a belly to belly. Angle would then look to wear down the legs of Van Dam, once again utilising submissions. Angle kept RVD grounded for a while, but he fought back, and hit Angle with numerous kicks, and finally a spin kick to the side of the head, that sent Angle to the mat. Van Dam called for the 5 Star Frog Splash, and he went to the top, but Chris Jericho sprinted down the ramp, and pushed RVD off of the top rope, Van Dam landed on his feet, and looked at Jericho in anger, but that momentary distraction was just enough time for Angle to get the rollup on Van Dam and steal the win from him. Jericho and Van Dam stared each other down, and Jericho smiled, because he knew that he had now gotten one over on Van Dam.

The Rock's show. Smackdown. Pink tights jokes? Classic Rock. Big main event set considering it headlined the actual 2002 Royal Rumble. Interference was a big thing during this era but I'm not too keen on DDP losing before a title shot. Edge/Booker can be a solid feud...as long as it ain't over shampoo. Major brawl between Steve Austin and the Undertaker. I expect this to spill over into the Rumble match, where both guys are high up on the favorites to win list. Absolutely stunned to see Tazz go over Kurt Angle. It seems like you want to push Tazz, but I think he was past his usefulness as someone to push, especially over Angle. I adored the Mighty Molly character. Rock beating Chris Jericho due to RVD is fine, but I feel like this may lead to Rocky getting a title shot in the near future. Really cool edition of Smackdown with one baffling booking decision.
Raw time! So, these are some quick promo write ups. I don't mind but some members might. RVD/Jericho at the Rumble should be good. The Rumble is a good place for someone like RVD to get a title shot. I thought it said Kelly Kelly not Kevin Kelly. I was like "she's only 12 years old at this point!" Christian over Maven works. Maven was still kind of known at this point so I'd like to see him involved in a European or Hardcore Title picture for a bit. I kind of want to see DDP win the Intercontinental Title. HE GOT HIS HURRI-POWERS BITCH. Oh, but he lost. Val Venis was just returning if I recall so the win makes sense. Molly/Trish was always good. Stevie over Lance Storm? Boo. I dug the write up for the Triple Threat Tag Team match. Lengthy but not overly long. Dudley Boyz was the best booking decision. I wish Undertaker and Steve Austin had better matches together. Sweet main event. Part of me is disappointed that RVD lost with a title shot coming up but the Jericho interference made it work better. Fun. I'm looking forward to the Royal Rumble.

January 25, 2002 | Delta Center, Salt Lake City, UT We are welcomed to another edition of Friday Night Smackdown by The King and Michael Cole. They tell us that it's the last stop before the Royal Rumble. They also inform us of our main event, Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle vs Rob Van Dam and a partner of his choosing. Maven vs EdgeWe got things underway almost immediately, as the newcomer and winner of Tough Enough, Maven, took on the number 30 entrant in the Royal Rumble match, Edge. Edge and Maven spent most of the match mat wrestling, exchanging holds for the early parts of the match. Edge got the upper hand after a while, and managed to hit the Edgeucution, but he only got two, as Maven was able to kick out. Maven took it to Edge, catching him with an impressive standing dropkick and then a clothesline, but after he pulled off the clothesline, he started to try and rally the crowd, but that's where the inexperience of Maven came into play, because when he turned around, he got ripped in half with a spear by Edge, which would give Edge the win. Chris Jericho is backstage, and looks very pleased with himself. He grabs his belts, and appears to be walking towards the entranceway. - Commercial Break - Chris Jericho's theme plays and he walks down the ramp, gets in the ring, and begins to talk. He says that he finally made Rob Van Dam look like a fool in front of everybody, and that he's in his head. Jericho goes on to say that tonight, he will put an end to Rob Van Dam, and that RVD will be so humiliated, that he won't even show up at the Royal Rumble. But before he can go any further, Van Dam's theme hits, and he appears at the top of the stage and walks down to the ring. He says that even though Jericho did outsmart him on Raw, he's still focused on winning the Undisputed Championship at the Royal Rumble, and nothing is going to stop him from getting it. Jericho then says that Van Dam is living in a fantasy land, and that he's nothing compared to Chris Jericho. Jericho then says that he understands Van Dam may be a former ECW Champion, but let's face it, that place was a joke, and he then says that him and Kurt Angle will "get rid" of Van Dam in the main event, because Van Dam doesn't even have a partner. RVD replies, and says that he does have a partner, and that Jericho will find out exactly who he is later on. Jericho looks confused, and Van Dam leaves. Ric Flair is shown making his way towards a skybox. As he enters the skybox, Vince McMahon is there to greet him. The Hurricane vs Billy KidmanThe cruiserweights took center stage, as Billy Kidman met The Hurricane. Kidman was all go right out of the gate, hitting Hurricane with a standing dropkick immediately after the bell rung. After he got Hurricane to the ground, he looked to wear him down with holds such as rear chinlocks, armbars, and scissor holds. Kidman had the advantage until The Hurricane came off the ropes with a springboard clothesline, and then pulled off a Hurricanrana. Hurricane looked like he had the match won for a while, but ultimately, Kidman was the one who would steal the win after managing to get The Hurricane down and come off the top rope with a death-defying Shooting Star Press. - Commercial Break - Kane vs TestTest, who is no small man himself, may have been at a mismatch for the first time in his career here against Kane. Test looked to take out the long legs of the big 7ft Kane by kicking him in the knee and chop blocking him. Test got Kane down on his back, and then began to stomp and drop elbows on the knee of Kane. Test did a good job of keeping Kane down for the majority of the match, and he almost got the win after a big boot nearly knocked Kane out. But, it takes a hell of a lot to keep Kane down, as Test would find out when Kane got back in Test's face and chokeslammed him right into the mat. Kane got the pin and the win over Test, which has to make him a favourite in the Royal Rumble. However, after the match finished and Kane was about to set the corner pyro off, he was inexplicably attacked by Lance Storm of all people, who was pushed away by the Big Red Machine, but after he got rid of Storm, Christian came running in from the crowd, and attacked Kane from behind. After Christian started, Test would get up and join in, and finally Storm would attack Kane again and now all 3 men were unloading on Kane for seemingly no reason. Christian and Storm picked Kane up, and Test ran at him and dropped him with a big boot. Christian went under the ring, pulled out a Canadian flag, and then used it to cover the body of Kane. Storm, Test, and Christian stood over a beaten down Kane with their arms raised in the air, with no explanation as to why they attacked Kane. Backstage, Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle are talking tactics in Jericho's locker room. Jericho says that he will take out Van Dam's partner, and Angle can take out Van Dam. Angle says that sounds just fine, because he's already beaten Van Dam once, so it should present no problem. They both agree and Angle leaves Victoria vs JazzVictoria took on the physically impressive Jazz, and to the surprise of most people, she actually managed to get the better of her much stronger opponent for most of the match. Whenever Jazz would go for her, she'd move out of the way and use her quickness to her advantage. Victoria felt like she had worn Jazz down sufficiently, and she went for the Widow's Peak, but Jazz fought her way out of it, and planted Victoria in the canvas with a pump-handle slam for the win, which moved her up in terms of the next contender for Trish Stratus' WWF Women's Championship. - Commercial Break - The Rock is shown entering the building backstage. The Hardyz vs The APAThese two teams came up short this past Monday night on Raw, and both looked to climb their way back up the ladder by defeating the other. The more experienced APA cut the ring in half to make sure that Jeff Hardy could not make it to his brother Matt to get the tag. Every time it looked like Hardy was mounting some sort of offence, Bradshaw and Faarooq would stop him in his tracks. The big bruiser Bradshaw did damage to Hardy's midsection, first clubbing him numerous times in the ribs, then dropping him across his knee with a back breaker, then almost breaking Jeff in half with a shoulder gut buster. Hardy fought valiantly, however, and the heart of Hardy showed as he managed to kick Faarooq in the head, and that bought him just enough time to let him crawl over to Matt and make the tag. The freshest man in the match, Matt danced rings around Faarooq and Bradshaw, dropping Faarooq right on his neck with the Side Effect. Hardy then grabbed Faarooq and set him up for the Twist Of Fate, but as he was calling for it, Bradshaw came from seemingly out of nowhere and almost decapitated Hardy with a vicious Clothesline From Hell. Bradshaw went for the pin, but Jeff Hardy came off the top rope with a Swanton Bomb to break it up. But, as Hardy rose to his feet, Faarooq would grab him and send him straight back down with a spinebuster. Faarooq went for the pin, but Matt Hardy broke it up at 2.9. Faarooq got up and tried to hit Matt with a spinebuster, but Hardy got out of it and managed to take Faarooq out with the Twist Of Fate. Matt tagged in Jeff, who was now on the outside, who hit the Swanton Bomb and got the pin and the win. The WWF Slam Of The Week, presented by Snickers, is shown, and it gives us a recap of how Chris Jericho cost Rob Van Dam the main event this past week on Raw. Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle both make their way to the ring. Jericho grabs a microphone, and begins to talk. He says that if Van Dam's partner is so great, he'll come out here right now and the match will begin. Van Dam's theme music hits, and he comes out on the stage with a microphone of his own. Van Dam says that his partner is somebody that both Jericho and Angle are familiar with, and that he dislikes both of them just as much as Van Dam does. Van Dam then introduces him by saying "Ladies and Gentleman, my tag team partner!:". The Rock walks out and points at Jericho and Angle. They both run down the ramp, and the match begins. Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle vs Rob Van Dam and The RockVan Dam and Rock ambushed Jericho and Angle from the very beginning, sprinting down the ramp and unloading with strikes on both men before the match had even started Rocky sent Angle flying out of the ring with a huge uppercut, and Van Dam hit a wheel kick on Jericho, sending him to the mat. Finally, the referee came down and the match was able to begin. Rock and Jericho would start the match off, with Rocky getting the upper hand after exchanging holds for a while. With Jericho down on his ass, Rock tagged in Van Dam, who was clearly eager to get his hands on Jericho, but before he had a chance to even touch Jericho, "Y2J" tagged in Kurt Angle. Angle went running after RVD, but Van Dam caught him in a side headlock takeover, and the two men grappled on the mat for a while. As they both rose to their feet, Van Dam still had the upper hand, that was however until he went into the ropes and Jericho caught him with a well placed kick right to the spine. That momentary distraction caused Van Dam to turn around, but that would prove to be costly, as Angle would come up behind him and throw him with a German Suplex, however Angle maintained his grip, got up, and threw Van Dam again. For a third time, he popped his hips and sent Van Dam over his head, but this time he released his grip and sent Van Dam halfway across the ring. Angle got up and slapped a rear chinlock on RVD, keeping the highflier grounded. When he could tell Van Dam was worn down, Jericho called for the tag, and Angle bought him into the match. Jericho bought the stomps down on RVD, repeatedly kicking him right in the chest. Jericho then jumped into the second rope and did further damage to the sternum of Van Dam, this time coming down on top of him with a Lionsault. Jericho went for the cover, but RVD kicked out at two. Jericho then locked in a body scissors, wrapping his legs tightly around the guy of Van Dam. Jericho then mocked Van Dam, copying his signature taunt, but yelling "Y2J" instead of "RVD". While he still had his legs around RVD, Jericho tagged in Angle, and Kurt came in and dropped a number of elbows on the lower leg of Van Dam, to weaken his ankle for the dreaded Ankle Lock. By this point, Jericho had left the ring, and Angle had the upper hand on RVD. Kurt called for him to get up so Angle could hit the Angle Slam, but as he went for it, Van Dam managed to wiggle himself free and catch Kurt with a kick to the head. The weakened RVD was trying to crawl to get the tag to The Rock, but before he could reach him, the now legal Chris Jericho ran in and went for the Walls Of Jericho, but Van Dam kicked him off before he could lock it in. RVD then rose to his feet and tried to walk to Rock, but he was stopped by the now legal Kurt Angle, who spun him around to face him. Van Dam went for a kick to the stomach of Angle, but Kurt caught his foot, so RVD tried for an Enziguiri, but Angle ducked it, and now Van Dam was on his belly, and Angle had him by the foot, which could only mean one thing - the Ankle Lock. Kurt dragged Van Dam into the center of the ring and began to wrench on the ankle, seemingly trying to snap it in two. Van Dam tried to power himself over to Rock, but just as it looked like he was about to get the tag, Angle pulled him back over to the middle of the ring and grapevined the leg. Kurt was pulling and pulling, and it was visibly affecting Van Dam, who had a look of pain etched on his face. While the referee was focused on Van Dam, Angle reached his arms out to Jericho, and "Y2J" pulled on them to give Kurt some extra leverage. However, the referee saw it, and Angle was forced to break the hold. Van Dam slowly made it to his feet, and before Angle could lock in the Ankle Lock again, RVD hit him in the head with a roundhouse kick, and jumped across the ring to tag in The Rock. Rocky came running in and began cleaning house on both Angle and Jericho, Rock clothesline Jericho to the outside, and planted Angle with a spinebuster, and removed his elbow pad, signalling for the People's Elbow. Rock ran the ropes twice, then slowed down, and dropped an elbow to the heart of Angle to pull off "the most electrifying move in all of sports entertainment". Rock called for Angle to get back to his feet so he could hit the Rock Bottom, but Jericho came in from behind with a shot to the back of the head. Jericho, who was now legal after tagging Angle, then grabbed the legs of The Rock and trapped him in the Walls Of Jericho in the center of the ring. Rock used all his strength, however, and made it to the ropes. As he got to his feet, Kurt Angle came running towards him, but Rock had the wherewithal to low-bridge the ropes and send Angle flying to the outside. As Jericho turned around, Rock saw the opportunity and went for the Rock Bottom, but Jericho wisely elbowed him in the side of the head to stop it. Jericho came running after Rocky and went for something, but Rock moved and sent Jericho flying into the ropes, and as he came back, Rock grabbed him and drove him into the mat with the Rock Bottom. Van Dam, who now appeared to be healed, called for the tag, and Rocky tagged him in. RVD went to the top, and came flying down with the 5 Star Frog Splash. He made the cover, and he managed to get a huge pinball victory over the WWF Undisputed Champion, which had to make Jericho worried headed into the Royal Rumble. Van Dam and Rock celebrated in the ring, as Jericho and Angle were both on the ramp, with Angle laid out, and Jericho sat up. Smackdown closed with the image of The Rock raising the arm of Rob Van Dam in the air, as he stared down Jericho, who was looking worried on the entrance ramp.
