As most of you I chat with on here know, I'm pretty passionate about filmmaking, and love what I do. I've been Directing Features for about 3 years now (in Pre-Pro on my 4th one) and I just found my first Feature up for pre-sale tonight... www.amazon.com/Aftermath-Maggie-Dye/dp/B00RZXWWFQ/ref=sr_1_6?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1427426048&sr=1-6&keywords=tomcat+releasingNow this is in no way a sales pitch, because admittedly unless you're a horror/thriller fan, or low budget fan, you probably wont dig it, but I went through so much making this movie. I was on set when they found out my mom was going to die. I was in Cali for AFM, when she did pass, and I got that phone call. 2012 was the worst year of my life, and I still managed to get this movie done. And now seeing it on Amazon, up for pre-order...it's just a really incredible feeling of success. It means nothing in the grand scheme of anything towards my career, etc, other than a learning tool...but within the confines of this project, to see that it's gotten this far, with Int'l Distribution, is a stellar feeling for this particular project. And if you're curious, here's the trailer, and I'll link the IMDb page below: www.imdb.com/title/tt2584642/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_7

Damn man that looks better than low budget imo Appreciate that. We ended up making the movie on about 5 grand (this included 3k in equipment)...we started shooting on HDV, and my camera crapped out after about 30% of shooting, so I had to borrow a friend's 60D, and learn DSLR on the fly as we finished. It was low budget through, and through lol -- even sold my car, and donated plasma to raise money for it. I was going to get this damn movie done. It could be on Troll 2 level. I didn't care. It was getting done.

Awesome stuff man. Congrats. I'm working on my fourth feature as well. Been in pre production for about a year, but I'm hoping to start shooting this May/June.
Love me some low budget films.

Very nice. I'm hoping to start rolling in May, as well. Doing a Feature retelling of Poe's "Cask of Amantillado". Pretty excited, but it's taking a whole lot to go to such a dark place. Not the most fun, at times.

Congrats, and sorry about your mom. Appreciated, and thank you. It's unfortunately part of life. She was definitely my biggest supporter in my career choice, and I was bummed that she didn't actually get to see my first Feature completed, but -- it was a major reason I felt compelled to finish it, at the very least.

I'm not being nosey but after reading how much you out into this do you get a cut out of buys from this?

Badass trailer. That's awesome you were able to finish the film after everything you've been through. I've been doing film for a few years now and love it. Always wanted to take part in a horror movie. Awesome. I look forward to hearing that you got it done. Best feeling in the world is calling "That's a Wrap". And Aftermath certainly has horror elements, and that's what they're selling it as, so that's what I say it is, but -- there's action, thriller, drama to it as well. Personally, I don't say that I've done a legit 'HORROR' movie yet. Aftermath is more thriller, in my eyes. But zombies are big right now, easy to sell for distribution purposes, and horror remains the cheapest/"easiest" genre to make. So -- zombies it was lol. I will say though, that zombies are not the only monsters hinted at in the movie. I had intended, and still do, on creating an entire Universe. With a number of different monsters in there. I play an enslaved werewolf in this one, and the main villains are actually Reptilians (really interesting conspiracy theory fodder if you have time to look it up)....but yeah, I had intentions of including vampires, and all sorts of things. Basically when the zombie outbreak in this film dropped the human population enough, these monsters that had been relegated to the shadows, out of simply being outnumbered, are sort of able to come out of hiding in the sequels. This doesn't give anything away for the movie, just expands on some of the characters in it, and why it's hard for me to be like "It's a horror movie!" even though that's what it sells as.

I'm not being nosey but after reading how much you out into this do you get a cut out of buys from this?Questions are fine. I have to tread lightly with my answers, though, so forgive me. Basically 'yes' is the short answer. The longer answer that I can/will publicly discuss is -- this movie was originally intended to be a web series, not a Feature. When the Distribution company heard the concept and the plans, they were like "If you make it a Feature, we'll Distribute it. Done deal." -- so who's going to turn that down? The fact is, there's a LOT that goes into distributing a movie (Right now I know it's coming out here, and has sold in Germany, so far) -- and at this level, the distribution company has costs they have to incur. Once that happens, yes, I do start to see a certain amount. My third Feature I just finished filming this Winter, Alien Harvest, is for the same distribution company, but I was hired outright to do it, so as soon as the movie is turned in, with all the other stuff, I get paid 'x' amount. Honestly, it's not a lot, and it's not glamorous, but it's enough to survive in IN doing what I love, without having to get a "real" job, as it were. Plus I do stuff like music videos, commercials, act in others' projects, etc, on the side.

Amazing stuff Robert; seriously mate - well done! Perseverance pays off and this is the proof right here, I respect your moxie...and like you, my Mum passes away not too long ago (late 2011) in the midst of changing circumstances in life... Thanks again for sharing, and again, great work!

I wanted to mention, as a couple of you have said that you're interested in pre-ordering...(again, I don't expect anyone too, but thank all of you)...
The trailers/clips Amazon has on their page are not from my film. The trailer for mine is the one linked here on the thread. The clips on Amazon are from various other 'Aftermath' projects. I've contacted the Distributor, as I've had to explain this a couple times now.
I just wanted to clarify, so nobody felt mislead by me. I have absolutely 0 to do with Distribution/Amazon, or the like.
