What's so ridiculous about a Superman punch? It's an actual MMA technique used very often. Yeeaaaaah, no. The WWE Roman Reigns Superman Punch is nothing like the MMA Superman Punch. In MMA it is done from very close range and the only reason it looks like it does is because it is supposed to be a deceptive move, but it RARELY works. It usually ends up looking like this when guys try it: In real fighting, if somebody came running across the ring and did that high of a jumping punch, their opponent is going to move and then pummel the crap out of him. I know wrestling moves are kayfabe and a lot of time the guy is either laying there or standing there waiting for you to do a move that would never work in real life....but the "Superman punch" has gotta be the worst right now. To be fair, if anyone tried a wrestling move during a real fight, they're gonna get their ass kicked. You think in a real fight someone is going to helplessly rest on your shoulders while you prepare for an F5? To nit pick the superman punch because it wouldn't work in a real fight is rather silly considering the hundreds of other moves out there.

I don't like reigns, but I have never liked the guy they were pushing.
I wasn't a Stone Cold fan when he was on top, I wasn't a Rock fan when he was on top, I wasn't a Cena guy, or a Hogan guy...
Im a fan of the Bray Wyatts, and Road Doggs, and Stings. Cool characters with cool attire, not some jabroni in underwear. That being said Daniel Bryan, Punk, and Dolph are very entertaining.
You could argue he wears different gear, but it just reminds me of 1999 big boss man. He's related to these guys and those guys, so of course he gets a push.

either way, it turned out actually the best it could for reigns. looked good against lesnar overall, with the rocky vs apollo gimmick of getting beat up but making it the full fight, and wasn't the one to take the title off lesnar. also sets him up for a program for the championship automatically.
i wonder if mr heyman devised this, but that's a huge assumption on my part.

So I just finished watching the entire match, again, because of this thread. I hate to sound corny, but I think that moment, when he said that, is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in wrestling. Because it isn't Seth Rollins saying it; Colby Lopez is saying it. A guy who has climbed up from the lowest indie ranks to win the world title at WrestleMania. Shawn Michaels' boyhood dream is shared by many, and for another guy it just happened. I'm honestly very happy for him. As for Reigns, look I know it's fake and all but that looked like he took a shoot ass kicking for the good of the show, and that deserves respect. Nobody wanted him to win, he didn't, can we go back to liking the guy now? He may not have been doing Asai moonsaults out there but he played his role perfectly. If I wasn't a fan before, I am now. Well said. I agree

I just watched it back, and you can clearly hear him say it. Also just quickly made this. You can see the moment where he tucks his head in close and thanks him. This has me wondering though. Does this mean the original plan was Reigns to win but he gave it up for Seth?Of course the original plan was for Roman to win -- but he didn't give up anything.

I give him tons of props for last night. He went out and, even though he wasn't leaving with the belt, took shots from Brock and hit him hard back. Give him more build through the summer while he chases and the belt and it will be loads better than just putting the belt on him last night. Wait a minute... Kev says something actually positive about Roman Reigns?! What has the world come to... Am I the only one who still isn't sold on Reigns? Out of the Pre-Mania "non-believers" so to speak, only Kev is even close to it.

Am I the only one who still isn't sold on Reigns? Just not sure how much more the man can do to prove he's worth a spot at the top, honestly. He had a great WRESTLING match with D Bry. He had a hard hitting brawl with Brock Lesnar. His mic work is improving, albeit slowly. He has the look, and certainly has the athleticism. I mean, some people will just never be down with him. Ever. And that's alright, the great thing is, you're allowed to cheer/boo whoever you want, but I think that my point is -- Roman Reigns has done more than his fair share, in the small amount of time he's had (mostly because of injury) to prove he belongs, at this point. If his match with D-Bry was considered "great" then the level of match quality has gone down tremendously. It was Reigns best singles match, but considering he hasn't had many its not saying much. And D-Bry is still the best performer on the roster and it was an average match for him compared to his other matches. And his match with Brock was a hard hitting brawl considering Brock did 95% of the beat down. Reigns took a bunch of suplexs and literally only did his superman punch and spear. Not really showing off much of a move set. I like Roman. I think he can be a top guy. But there's no denying he was shoved into this position far too soon. He needs to be given time in the midcard. Let him have a dominant run with the IC or US Title. Let him develop his mic skills and ring-set. He wasn't allowed to do any of this, was exposed and lost the support of casual fans.

I think the whole 'charging of the fist' thing he does is stupid. The punching the floor like he's ing superman is stupid. 'I can. I will.' is stupid. His performance at 'Mania was subpar. He didn't even sell that well in my opinion. This is not a Reigns thread, but seeing as the discussion leant towards Reigns at 'Mania I'm sharing my thoughts. On topic though, I checked this earlier on and it's very cool of him. Nice touch. Haven't seen the Taker/Wyatt one yet but will have to see it again.

I dont have a problem with people not liking him.I'm mostly talking about the people that claim "We Don't hate him,we boo him because we don't want him in that spot at mania" well now he's not in that spot anymore so where do we go from here with him.

I'm still not sold on Reigns. He didnt do jackcrap at Mania. Rollins did more in that match in 2 mins than Reigns did the entire match.
WWE continues to put him in tag matches, which is telling me that they dont have enough faith in him to hold his own in singles matches. He is only good for the hot tag where he can do his little routine. Daniel Bryan got a decent match out of him but that was because Daniel Bryan can make a piece of wood look good in the ring, Just like Brock was responsible for the Mania match being any good.
This is what happens when you give a green rookie a megapush. You cant be a top star having to rely so heavily on tag partners and good ring generals to make yourself look good.

I think it's awesome. You know Rollins, Ambrose, and Reigns are tight so it was probably a great moment for the two of them. Rollins will end up returning the favor at Summerslam so it'll all work out.
