To be fair to Saxton it felt rushed and unplanned.

Vince seems like the type of man who would argue with his shoes.

Are these the same people that thought Matt Striker was a terrible commentator?
There are a few weak aspects in the WWE.. But the commentary team is at the tippy top of the list of major problems with the product.. I honestly believe that the commentary team over the past decade has played a GIANT part in killing "pro-wrestling" for the sake of their "sports entertainment". There's a part of me that wished Lawler hadn't fully recovered from his heart attack just so I wouldn't ever have to listen to him call a match ever again. You got Michael Cole that MAKES UP names to call moves that already have names.. JBL rambles on about nothing, and when he says something relevant it's inaccurate.
The commentary team is awful. God awful.

The best was when cena made his open challenge. Saxon shouts, "here comes Rusev" right before Ambrose's music hit. It seemed very awkward to me. I could only imagine if he said, "Here comes Ambrose." Poor Vince would have had a stroke. Nerves got the best of him there, I think. And on Renee, I really enjoy her work...and her looks, but I'm not sure how I feel about her on commentary..

Rene is not there to be a commentator. She's there to hold a mic for interviews and look pretty. She doesnt have the wrestling knowledge to tell a story, which is what an announcer *should* do. Love Rene to death and hope she has a lengthy career but she doesnt need to be behind the table, especially just because she's female.
WWE has never really developed a great announcer before. Vince McMahon, Jim Ross, Gorilla Monsoon...they were all guys that just had "it". The guy they've tried to groom to fill those rolls over the years like Michael Cole, Kevin Kelly, Scott Stanford, Byron Saxton etc just really havent gotten the "it" factor do be a play by play guy. Color guys are easy to find but finding that guy who can tell a story just isnt as easy.

Saxton failed so bad out there. He sounded like a robot being fed lines, along with the long periods of silence. It made the show feel very amateur.

Have they never seen Smackdown? He's pretty terrible on there, too.

My favorite part of his commentary was after Cena gave the open challenge. Right after, Saxton yelled something along the line of "Oh my Gawd, it's Russev!". The thing is nothing happened for a couple beats, and the Ambrose's music hit.
Russev didn't come out until three or four segments later...

If you would of given me that opportunity, you would of thought a young WCW Jim Ross was sitting there. It would of been chaos and move after move would of been called right down to the last drop toe hold. Hell if you would of given me some coffee I might of done some professor Tenay rambling about careers.

I don't know what's going on with commntary. Cole was ING incredible during the Smackdown Six era. And in shoot interviews he seems to really have a grasp of what fans really wants, but always makes the point that he's not in total control of what he gets to say or what he can talk about. Commentary is a gimmick too. Maybe Vince thought calling moves is too "professional sport-like" so he wants them to ramble on about nonsense. And with Saxton, isn't it obvious they wanted to play up the "our colleague got demolished" thing so much? They really wanted to play it up like Owen as just died. I wouldn't argue against Saxton at all. Then again, I don't watch WWE television at all besides NXT so my opinion isn't really that valuable.
