Hey guys I had the pleasure to interview the creator of WCWA, and my personal friend Obo! Here are a few questions I asked him in the interview!
Q. My first question to you is a very simple one: What should we know you from and what is your feds name?
A) I am known for presenting WCWA, a very exciting indy-styled fed.
Q. WCWA has been such a huge success on the fantasy booking board. How long to you plan to continue WCWA?
A) I've planned a ton of times to close down. Real Deal and hebtheeagle can vouch on this one of how many times I planed to shut WCWA down. Just after the first PPV (very early 2004) I was considering shutting down WCWA and leaving booking all together. After Wrestlemania (early 2005, I think) I was seriously considering shutting down. Results May Vary was supposed to be my "last show", then I decided to go to a "once a month arena show" format, then that got scrapped. Then the next Pay Per View planned was supposed to be the last, WarGames (oMg!!!11! SPo1L3R) but considering I already have up to the PPV after WarGames planned out, that isn't going to happen. WCWA is a phoenix. it can be killed countless times, but it always rises from the dead.
Q. You have written such brillant matches. Out of all of them, which would you say is your favoirte one?
A) I cannot say I have one favorite. I've been doing this booking thing for close to four years and I have written a countless amount of matches. I'll list a few of my favorites. First one would be Gail Kim versus Miss Congeniality (Lita) from 3W Wrestlemania I. Many people wrote that match off going into the show as a crappy comedy match, but that match was incredibly hard hitting. It was the first match on the show, and it really set a standard for what the rest of the show was to present. This match is not up to my current standards, but by that time, it was phenominal. If I can dig up a copy (or anyone else can, should be in the Fantasy Booking archives somewhere) I'll repost it, as a "Greatest Hits and Misses" show. My favorite WCWA match is also a tie. TLC 1 between Reed Flair, Jerrelle Clark, and Jack Evans, and the 90 minute Iron Man match between Kurt Angle and Spanky. TLC 1 was such a mess going in, literally tossed together at the last possible second, but turned out to be a phenominal match, a match that essentially made the Junior Heavyweight division in WCWA. The other match is the legendary 90 minute Iron Man match. The concept alone for this match had some people drawn back. Iron Man matches, even at just 30 minutes, are gruling as hell. How could I write a 90 minute one, and still have it believable that these guys are still alive. But I did and it turned out phenominal, beyond anything that could have been expected.
Q. You have been around for a long time. Who would you say is your favorite?
A) My favorite person to read would really be a three way tie. Loaf, dcw1, and Erik Erna. All three are phenominal writers and all three inspired a lot of what is current day WCWA.
Q. What was one of the best shows you have ever read?
A) The Text Fed Bash. Everyone just put so much effort into their stuff, and seeing BOOK and WF interact was great. Stevie Bear stole the show though with his killer Jericho versus HHH versus Benoit match..
Q. What was your favorite show that you wrote?
A) WCWA When Worlds Collide, featuring the previously mentioned TLC 1, as well as AJ Styles versus Rob Van Dam for the world title in the main event. I think Alex Shelley, Paul London, and Joey Matthews in a three way was in undercard as well.
Here are some questions about WWE:
Q.Who is your favorite WWE superstar?
A) I've never really been one for a single "favorite" star. I really like the Spirit Squad, Paul London, Spanky (Brian Kendrick), Chris Benoit & Fit Finlay. Plus Burchill's pirate thing is always funny.
Q. Are you excited about the new ECW starting up in June?
A) No, not really, because I know it won't be "true" ECW. Raven won't be there, Jerry Lynn won't, Shane Douglas won't. Then you've got WWE adding guys like Kurt Angle, which is just bizarre. It won't be the original ECW, the ECW I loved. WWE's One Night Stand last year failed to provide a true ECW, this year's won't, and their new ECW won't. Shane Douglas' Hardcore Homecoming was about 300x more ECW than any crap WWE has done.
Q. Who is the future of WWE?
A) HHH. He married the boss's kid, so he'll be the past, present, and future until he can't wrestle any more, or divorces Steph. As long as HHH is still around, no one will take his spot. He's the new Hogan, but he's married into the family.
Q. Who is the future of wrestling in general?
A) Chris Hero. He's got the charisma to make fans truly hate him, he's got the work ethic to put on some of the greatest matches of all time, and to add to it, he's a hell of a nice guy.
I hope you guys enjoyed this!
