I've been in China for the past 3 weeks and just got back to the US yesterday. I went to work to pick up packages I had sent there while I was out of the country (Razor, Paige, WM Taker, WM Kane, and WM31 Hogan). I also needed to do some shopping so I stopped by Target on the way home and checked the figures as I always do. I was surprised to see E34 Cena (about 3 of them), Rusev, and Barret on the pegs. I was bummed there was no Hogan since he was who I really wanted, but decided to get Rusev as well since I thought he'd be hard to come by. So I put him in my basket.
For some reason I decided I wanted to look at the figure closer and see the podium, so I take another look. Rusev's waist was swivled at a 90 degree turn which looked weird in the packaging. Then I noticed he wasn't pushed into the plastic all the way and the podium and medal was missing. Even the cardboard sticker on the front that lists the included accessories was gone. I look on the back and see some dirty scotch tape over where clean tape should be. Some rat b*stard bought the figure, took out all evidence of the accessories, returned it, and I almost bought the thing. If you can't afford to buy two figures for the accessories, you don't deserve to collect, you thieving, broke piece of garbage. People are the worst.

Mattel should really consider in remaking packages. It's awesome to repack for display but too many thieves out there. I prefer the usual packages McFarlane uses.

I have seen a few in parts, all at the same Target. Usually they are replaced with a basic and added accessories minus belts of course.

Yea but the worst is when you buy a figure and they instantly snap because the joints aren't loose. I've had this problem on many figures, no way to tell until you open it

I saw a Vince/Punk 2 pack a few days ago that had the Vince stolen and a BP30 Ambrose put in its place. Those 2 figs are very similar looking at least from the head down.

This happens a lot and is nothing new. I'm also a marvel legends collector and happens all the time with them. People put in older figures, or replacing the accessories with ones they didn't come with. the stores don't know any better. Until the stores start catching up this will never end. Always take a close look at what you're buying. I've seen a couple elite figures being replaced by basics before I just don't buy them. People can be jerks.

I almost got burned by a Rusev smudge today! Seriously the paint was so bad the R looked like it was smeared into the other letters on his trunks. Pitiful QC Mattel
Only one they had to which sucked

I've said it before, and no doubt I'll say it again:
Blister packaging is the only suitable packaging to prevent returns like this.

I went back there again today. It's still there and I didn't notice last time, but they put a basic Rusev in the elite packaging. It's the first time I've seen a repack in the Seattle area. Makes me hate humanity.

I hate when people do that, wish they put those people in plastic package. That reminds me of the SNL Mr. Belvedere skit where Tim Meadows gets put in a giant jar.

I've said it before, and no doubt I'll say it again: Blister packaging is the only suitable packaging to prevent returns like this. Not true. Target will still accept return with vusable damadge. However, it won't make it back to the shelf, it would be put in the back for reverse logistics and sent back to the manufacturer. BUT, Mattel would call them out on being wrong in sending back , for example, a Jakks figure in Mattel packaging, and not refund their money. This would result in various outcomes. -That retailer stops caring these figures in stores and only has online options. - That retailer begins a class on identifiying a false return and points out profits lost due to these. - The retailer drops the figure line all together. - The retailer refuses returns for these products. Thats the best way to go here. All retailers should refuse the ability to return these items, instead, you would have to go through the Manufacturer for a refund/replacment. Then, there is no screwing the system. Pictures must be provided, or product must be sent in the mail. I inderstand there are QC issues with everything, but, I can say I have only returned one figure to a store, and that was a Test/Stacy Keibler AD 2-pack at KB Toys because he had 2 left hands. Out of 26 years, thats one return on toys. Its obvious tve returns has been most profitable from scammers.
