Fall down seven times, stand up eight - Japanese Proverb
It's a nice sunny day with a slight breeze to keep the weather from being so hot.
I came to visit my mother's grave, it's been too long since I've last been out here.
I brought Grady along because she was like a 2nd mother to him as well.
Grady was respectful enough to give me time alone and have a little privacy.
"I'm sorry I haven't visited in a while mom," I start my one sided conversation.
"I've been really busy. I'm a professional wrestler now," I let out a little laugh as the words roll off my tongue.
"Yeah, me, you're baby boy, who would've thought," I smile, picturing my mother's face.
"I promise I'm gonna come more often and bring you some flowers," I say full of guilt over my prolonged absence.
I don't say too much over the next few minutes, just sit in silence and reflect on memories I have with her.
I hear footsteps approaching, I know Grady is now ready to join me.
"She was always so nice to me," he says as he approaches.
"I miss her so much," I say fighting back tears.
"You and me both," Grady adds.
"I wish she could see me now..." I trail off, trying to regain my composure.
"She was always proud of you," he says patting me on my back.
"It kills me knowing when I have kids, they won't get to know their grandma," I can't help the tears at this point.
"No they won't, but they'll have one hell of a dad," he's attempting to cheer me up "I hope you realize that."
"Thanks Grady, I appreciate you being here with me today," I tell him.
"You don't have to thank me, champ." He says,"I loved her too."
"Yeah, well either way, I needed somebody by my side with everything that's been going on," I assure him of my appreciation.
"We better get going, I gotta get to work," he says as he leaves me to say goodbye.
Later In The Day
I hate hospitals. Always have, always will.
I never liked them to begin with, and then when I lost my mom that just made everything worse. I hate everything about them. But I got to be here for Sean. He changed my life for the better, it's the least I can do to be by his side.
If he wasn't in this coma, he'd be by my side at End Game when I finally go toe to toe with Thornstowe. But I'm used to this adversity, adversity strengthens the strong and weakens the weak. A heart unbroken hasn't lived.
After this morning with Grady at my mom's grave I realized that there's nothing I can't overcome. You can knock me down but you wont knock me out. In my life I've faced poverty, grief and bullying, just to name a few, and couldn't none of that keep me down. I'll be damned if I stay down now!
No matter how many times life knocks me down, I will get back up, stand tall and dust myself off. I will not let anything stop me or get in the way of my success. I do it for my mother resting in heaven and I do it for the kids sitting in the crowd cheering me on. They mean the world to me and I feel like it is my responsibility to set a good example for all of them cheering me on.
I've never been more ready than anything in my life and at End Game, I'm gonna leave it in the ring.
Time to be the hero that I never had.
