I really want a ring to display my figures in. I am considering getting the ASR, but I will have to do a considerable amount of customizing because I want the late 80's WWF ring with the blue posts, red whit and blue ropes and I want to get a custom Saturday Night's Main Event skirt. ANYHOW, I see a few people have done amazing jobs making their own ring.
So, My dilemma is this...should I buy the ASR and customize the heck out of it, or should I try and build my own? Where do I go for plans on building one and what do people use to build them? I think I could build one if I had a game plan, I just wouldn't know where to begin. Thoughts?

What I did was I got one of the Mattel basic spring rings for around $15. I then took off the plastic canvas of the ring so I just had the posts and ring apron. I cut the ring apron base into four equal parts and secured them with a metal plate across and secured that with some bolts, so it was now about 18 in by 18 in. I had a thick piece of wood laying around and cut that to the size for the canvas. I just took a plain white T-shirt and folded that around and stapled it to the bottom of my new canvas. I then just popped that in (there are already supports in the ring to hold this up that Mattel uses to hold their plastic canvas on). Make some custom ring skirts or order them and you should be good. Should end up costing around $30 max. Any questions just let me know

Be careful when tackling building your own. The cost may outweigh the cost of buying the ASR and cage!

I may get the combo when it is available and sell off the parts for the modern ASR and keep the 80s looking parts. Might be the best and most economical way to do it. unpuckadox photos aren't showing

sorry I cant get them to work I guess. But as long as you do some price research you will be good. But if you want the real clean clean crisp look just buy and sell the other parts.
