I'm a huge Tom Hardy fan and also a fan of the old Max Max movies with Gibson.
Is this new movie a remake, a reboot or does it actually tie into the others?

I want to see this on Mon or Tues when I'm off work.
Good questions. I'm curious also.
I just assumed it was a reboot.

It ties into the other ones! Nicely as well.
Check it out! It's a direct sequel, there will be more to come.
This one was 5/5 for sure. Hands down and Hardy KILLED IT. ERADICATED IT.

You sit down and for 2 straight hours your mind is just annihilated, then you leave...wanting more.

I loved Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. I didn't have high expectations for this but I'm really glad to hear this is better than expected.

Best movie I've seen in awhile.
It was perfect.
This movie deserves to sell more tickets than Avengers 2.

It is both a sequel and a reboot. This was a nearly perfect action movie. The fact that it's almost all practical stunts, which is a huge surprise these days. But anyone who's seen the originals know this is something that George Miller excels at. Tom Hardy was great as Max, but the true star was Charlize Theron and she knocked it out of the park. All of the characters were great and it's impressive to see so much character detail without a lot of dialogue or exposition, the physical portrayals telling so much more than words could have. I don't want to give too much away, as a lot of people haven't seen it yet. But this is a movie that must be seen in a theatre. The scale is awe inspiring on the big screen. Please go this weekend and get as many people as possible to go with you. This movie needs to be successful so we can have more!

Oh I absolutely plan on seeing it soon. Was just curious how it ties into the others with Hardy playing Max and all.
I GUESS I'll just have to see it hahaha.

He's got his coat and interceptor for one thing. Also, there's talk of him once being a cop and the fuel shortages. Not a lot from the previous films specifically mentioned, but to be fair, all of the movies are more or less self contained.

These reviews sound great.
The last good action movie I saw in theaters was Dredd.
Bonus points for practical effects over CGI.
I'm gonna go see it Mon or Tues.

It was GOOD but there is something preventing it from being great.....that being? It isn't about Max. Its about Theron's character. Like I say Good movie but it could have been better. IMO its a cleverly disguised remake of the Road Warrior with better effects.
Also its intended to take place between Road Warrior and Thunderdome(Max is meant to be older in Thunderdome) from everything I have read. Its definitely not a reboot......
Knee brace? Check. Interceptor? Check Trademark jacket? check.
Also the dude who plays Immortan Joe is the same dude who played the Toecutter in the original!!
But none of the movies flaws are Hardy's fault. He was absolutely BRILLIANT as Max he totally killed it. IMO it was Miller who misused the character.
Id safely say I'm in the vast minority concerning this opinion but that's cool too!! I will be interested to see how it does at the box office. AOU is still going strong but Pitch Perfect 2(ugh) may just appeal to more folks.

This movie is everything you think Mad Max is about, especially if you've never seen a Mad Max movie.
I have a lot of respect for Miller thanks to this movie. He has really created something special.
The movie doesn't take itself too seriously, and wastes no time overly explaining the world it depicts.
Mad Max is a post apocalyptic movie where people fight in supped up cars. That is exactly what Fury Road delivers.
Little dialogue, all action. And the various cars and characters each have a unique look and character.
The action is filmed perfectly as well. Miller slows down and speeds up the action appropriately so you can always tell exactly what is going on and follow everything.
You don't even need to be able to understand English in order to watch this movie, follow it, and enjoy yourself.

And movies like pitch perfect 2 which are centered on women? Did Charlize Theron being the main character make any difference in the amazingness of the film or plot? This just reeks of blind sexism. I didn't get any sexism out of that post. I just felt like he wished the character development was focused more on Max than on the girl driving the truck.

I just felt like he wished the character development was focused more on Max than on the girl driving the truck. She wasn't just 'the girl driving the truck', though. She was the real catalyst for the story. Max just kind of went along with whatever the hell was rolling around him. I mean, I can see having a gripe with the film being named for him and then having it really be more about the female characters, but they were really bad ass. Charlize in particular gave one of the best heroine portrayals since Ripley in Aliens. Would it make everyone feel better if the movie was called 'Furiosa'? Or do they want an inorganic plotline because the franchise initially started based around Rockatansky?

Saw Mad Max again today, 3 times now, bloody brilliant. And confirmed the next installment will be named MAD MAX: WASTELAND CANNOT WAIT! revealed that the follow-up to Mad Max: Fury Road will be titled Mad Max: The Wasteland. “We’ve got one screenplay and a novella. It happened because with the delays [on Fury Road], and writing all the backstories, they just expanded,” Miller said while explaining how he ended up with a fully mapped out Mad Max trilogy before the first film released, on The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith. The title is interesting because The Wasteland is the name of the world in which the Mad Max films take place. What that means for the plot remains to be seen. Mad Max: Fury Road is now playing in theaters. comicbook.com/2015/05/18/mad-max-fury-road-sequel-will-be-titled-mad-max-the-wasteland/

And movies like pitch perfect 2 which are centered on women? Did Charlize Theron being the main character make any difference in the amazingness of the film or plot? This just reeks of blind sexism. well well....where to start. Ignorance on the level you have just perpetrated shouldn't really be acknowledged or paid any attention to BUT there is NO WAY your gonna call me a sexist(something I feel strongly about) and get away with it. Tell me "where oh where ENLIGHTENED one" did you see me say I didn't like Theron's character? I said the movie was about her character which wasn't a complaint-it surprised me. I didn't like that max was sidelined for the length that he was. And before you get your panties all tightened up or burn your bra I really enjoyed Theron(one of my all time fave actresses) in this movie. Furiosa was a nicely written & original character. The plot was fine IMO.....I said Miller could have used Max more effectively. Now to your next bout of typing rubbish. Where do you get the notion that I dislike all strong female characters? If you knew me like most of the lads here do you would know Aliens is possibly my favourite movie because of Ripley. Black Widow has been a perennial fave of mine in the MCU and I love the movie Haywire because of Gina Carano's character. now don't get excited.......These are only a few examples of my love for "strong females" in the movies. So you will have to explain that particular point to me. I dont expect much though because you haven't a leg to stand on. lastly.....Pitch Perfect 2.....I hated the first one because I hate MUSICALS not WOMEN.....I expect more of the same sh*te from the 2nd one. In short? be a good chap and think before you type.
