People care more about a stupid worthless flag than other human beings. It's sad and disgusting.

I believe in freedom of speech, but only if that speech is something I agree with.

I have several t-shirts of the band Anti-Flag. Who cares.

Do you just wake up every day and say to yourself "How can I go online today and be obnoxious tool and disrespect everyone?" If you're Christian you're a horrible person. If you're patriotic, you're a horrible person. If you do "this" you're a horrible person. If you dont do "that" you're a horrible person. Has there every been a thread that you were in that you didnt go out of your way to personally make some trolling snide remark to piss someone off?

If you value a flag more than a human being then you are a despicable person. A human life is far more valuable than a piece of fabric. The point wasn't about caring more about a flag than a person, it was calling it a stupid, worthless flag. For many, the flag is a reminder of what they love about this country. It's an icon for the ideals of America. Patriotism is not symbiotic with apathy. It is quite possible to both love America (therefore the symbol that represents it), the people that make it up, and the people that make up everywhere. And, for the record, no, I'm not a particularly patriotic person. I just believe the true worth of a person is represented in his/her ability to put themselves in other's shoes.

Well I hate national pride with a passion so I think it's pretty stupid honestly.

I'm not saying you don't, but it came off as disrespectful to him when you called something important to him stupid. If I said gay rights were stupid, you too would be upset. In a situation where you offend someone, you have two options: 1) You cowboy up and apologize, explaining what you really meant. 2) Continue to argue, therefore associating yourself with hate. And hate doesn't convert anyone.

I'd do nothing. The ignorance of the people who don't understand what an upside down flag means is astonishing. It's not disrespectful whatsoever. As someone said before, my generation is full of a bunch of uneducated idiots. I don't shop at Pacsun anymore. So, I'm not going to buy it. I used to before they changed their entire merchandise direction. Frankly, the trends in my generation (well, like 3 years younger than me), are stupid as hell. H&M is way better.

Doesn't matter if it's gay, black, women's or whatever, human rights are far more important than flag worship. I'm sorry, but it's insane that a flag is more important to some people than human rights and that's all I have to say about that. And I will not apologize for my opinion just because someone else doesn't like it.

Absolutely no one argued against you. And no, flags aren't as important as human rights, but I chose that as it's the only thing I know about you. Well, that and you're a conspiracy theorist, so forget about the human rights thing. If someone said "Anyone who believes in conspiracies is a complete moron," you'd be offended. You insinuated, be it on purpose or not, that anyone who has a warm and fuzzy feeling towards a flag is a bad person. All I was trying to do was point out to you that if you want people to see the way you think, you catch more flies with honey. Throwing out insults only hurts your cause. And when you offend someone, you try to see things from their point of view, not just dig your heels in and lower your horns. I have nothing against you. I don't know you, so how could I? All I'm trying to do is help you reach the people you're trying to reach and understand that you are currently acting no better than what you hate. You're telling people they need to change their beliefs without considering, even for a passing second, to try to understand theirs. Just because you're a humanist doesn't make you empathatic. Only an open-mind can do that. The fact is, I actually know more empathetic people that agree with the death penalty than oppose it. And, if you couldn't guess, I oppose it. You want to change the world, you're going about it the wrong way. There's a reason MLK made a bigger impact than Malcolm X.

And I'm not really a conspiracy theorist, if anything I think they're bullsh*t, it's because of personal reasons that cloud my judgement and cause me to be concerned over nothing.

I get the feel of needing to be strong in your beliefs and all. I was like that for a long time. As I got older, I realized all it was doing was causing grief, both my own and to anyone around me. Just try your best to keep a level head and I'm sure you'll be able to have people see your side of the argument. Hell, I didn't think you were wrong in your statement; I just think you went about it wrong. Honestly, I didn't even think anything offensive about the flag line until someone pointed out that it was.

I know PacSun still exists and all, 'cause there's one in my mall, but I didn't know people actually went in there. I just figured a PacSun looks better in the grand scheme of a mall's layout than a vacant storefront.
Do people seriously shop there?

America is the greatest country in the world.
Everyone born here is lucky to be here and everyone else wants to come here because they know it's true.
Our flag stands for basic human rights as well as everything else that is good and cool. If you poop on our flag you're pooping on basic human rights.
Pacsun took a calculated risk selling that shirt. They were trying to tap into the hip, cool, new sentiment that hating on America is fashionable. Things didn't pan out the way they wanted it to.
Lesson learned. Shirts about communism = cool. Shirts against American flag on Memorial Day = not cool.
That is my opinion. I'm probably wrong.
