The Barrett, HHH, and Austin torsos would have all been better.
I may still get it, but we'll see.

Triple H's torso would've been the worst choice.

I concur. Great idea for a figure, bad execution on MDT's part. For shame!

If there was a less cut version of E33 Batista's torso, I wonder how that would fare for this era of Hogan. Wow, is this a custom?

It works for me, IMO.

I don't see a problem with it personally especially given the time period it's based on. To each their own though.

I think the DM body looks way better, but that's just me.
His frame of the figure does match the time-period when he looked like that, so it's pretty accurate.

It needed to be much thinner/less-bulky than his DM figure... I'm surprised they didn't go with the E34 torso though - that seemed pretty perfect.

After reading through the other thread about the Hogan parts disparity and then this one I got to work cobbling together a Hogan figure. I used Rick Rude lower body with Bulldog boots, a Rock torso, papa shango shoulders (as I think one of the keys to a good Hogan figure is smaller shoulders, as Hogan never did have wide shoulders, and besides the larger Rock shoulders just didn't look right), Roman reigns arms with the tattoos stripped off and wrist tape painted on. Threw on an e34 head and there you go. Had a sort of 2002-ish feel so I added a leg brace. Oddly enough, when I put the e34 head on the Rock torso, I couldn't even tell a difference in the skin tone so I won't even have to paint this one later on.
Also after reading the suggestion about the HHH torso, I threw one of those together with Dolph Ziggler hips and upper legs and DM Hogan calves, boots, and head. The DM head doesn't fit quite right on the torso but close enough. While not a terrible choice, Hogan never had the V-Shape that that torso has and he was never that defined, even when he was juiced to the gills.
I don't have a HOF Hogan yet (and after seeing good pics of it I'm not sure I really want one other than to part it out), so I don't know how that head would look on the figure I made. From the pics it looks like one of the reasons it looks too skinny is the head is too big for that torso.
Out of all the torsos Mattel has made, I think the Rock/Austin torso is the best choice for, at the least, a Hollywood Hogan era figure. If there was a way to shrink down the Kane torso I'd go with that one.
Sorry for the sh*tty pictures, I took them with my tablet. I'll try to get some better ones when I find my camera.

Now I really wish the HOF Hogan had this torso. Too bad there aren't any existing figures in HH's skin tone. (L3 Bulldog's close but a shade lighter.)

Hogan has been pretty tanned during his career. If you look at pics of him and Rock from WM18 he's darker than Rock.

Honestly, it works. And based on the time period, it is pretty much not that off although it could be wider.

l would say that the majority of Mattel Elite figures are too skinny/small. It's the opposite problem we had with Jakks where everyone was too big. We still haven't been able to find that middle ground.

I don't know guys. I didn't care for the figure in pictures, but I just got one in hand and I think it captures the look of Hogan from WM9 pretty well. Glad I own it!

I don't own the figure yet, but it doesn't look too horribly bad from what I've seen. I guess I'll just have to wait until I have him in hand to decide whether or not I like it. Regardless, he'll still be a welcomed edition to my collection.

when was Hogan that ripped? Certainly not at WM 9!
